  1. Got my kit from Peaks. Candle addiction bug bit me!
  2. I use wick pins. Just drop them in and your ready to go. ( I plug the hole in the bottom just in case, found that out the hard way!)
  3. Thanks everyone so much. Just wondering if I was doing something wrong.
  4. I guess I was asking too much to have a square pillar burn self consuming like a round. A shell is normal then? Thanks for the quick feedback!
  5. I have been trying to wick a 3" square pillar. It's made of 4625. I have tried flat braid wick in the 24, 27, 30, 36 and recently stuck a 45 in the thing just to see what it does. I can't seem to find a wick that doesn't blow out the sides @1" down. Is it possible to wick these molds to have a nice burning candle that doesn't blow out or leave a big shell?
  6. I love this place!! This thread kinda makes me feel a little Forrest Gumpish with his box of chocolates. You really never know what you are gonna get:grin2: Is this a record number of replies???
  7. Better believe I will next time. I had already ordered one size wick (of the same kind) and it was .95 cents to ship. Didn't think 3 would more than double the shipping.
  8. I ordered some wick from Alabaster to test with. 3 different types of flat braid, 100 ft each. $3.00 ea. They don't tell you how much shipping is going to be when you order it. I checked my account and they charged me $8 to ship it from Alabama to Georgia. I know it can't weigh that much. No date, no kiss or anything, just bend right over.
  9. I hear that saltpeter has a reputation for diminishing the male sex drive when ingested, better be careful with that stuff.
  10. I guess no one has had any customers buy and exploding candle. How about strange things happening while you test. I know Top has to have a few, since he likes fire and stuff. Maybe people who think they don't need to test their products will get an idea of WHY they need to test before they sell if they have some examples.
  11. Ok, we all know to test, test, test what you make before you even think about giving it away. I myself am still in this process, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience examples to share. There have been some threads here that go into testing because you can burn someone's house down, burn their cat up, have exploding candles, etc. Has anyone ever sold a candle that did this or ever had to take advantage of their liability insurance?
