  1. How does this react to the touch? Is this edible? I am sure it is not, but I think this soap would be a HOT Valentine's Day seller, as well as for X-mas.
  2. Beary Vanilla Bean Santa's 'nilla froth Ruldolph's milkshake
  3. What about Tiki? Or a spin with the word Tiki in it? Tropical Tiki... Sweet Tiki I know Birds of Paradise grow in tropical climates, like in San Diego where I live we have them... Hawaiian Splendor Sweet Paradise San Diego Sunrise Sweet Sunrise Sorry now I am rambling! Good Luck, HTH!!
  4. I am new here, and have spent in 1 month $150.00 on 3 orders from 3 different suppliers, more than that- I bought some cookie cutters for ornies and some bw from Michael's... I want to try HP soap this weekend, so I will spend some more. I fund this hobby by Mystery Shopping, aside from my full time job! I am hoping to find a business to suppliment my pension, when I retire. Good thing I have 15-20 years to test the waters! This is an awesome place to learn and share, BTW!
  5. This reminds me of when I was at CVS and I smell some pretty great container candles from afar. Well, I examined them good and found that: - the wicks were not centered at all - there were some lighter and darker spots like circles ...viewed from the side of the jar. Now, I am a noob and my testers have these same spots, but I am not selling them either!
  6. Glad I am not alone with this soot problem, and again about halfway down the container, I get the black soot. I did a few searches and it may be caused from a wick that is too big...:rolleyes2
  7. I would love to find a doggie soap as well. I have used Tea Tree soap in the past, but I am looking into oatmeal soap... I still have yet to make any soap. But this weekend may be my debut!
  8. I think Candlescience has cheaper shipping than BCN. You may want to check it out! I also found CandleScience to have lower prices...at least on what I was ordering. I still like BCn's fo's etc though. I am in CA and have ordered from both. HTH! :highfive:
  9. Well, good luck to you too! Maybe we can exchange stuff we have accumulated and do not need, or sell it to eachother! I am such a noob here, I have made a few candles, and am looking forward to soapmaking and beyond. Take care! June~
  10. I add 1/2 T of BW to 10 oz of soy. HTH! For 1 lb of sow wax it would be 1 T of BW I also hear stearic acid in soy for tarts helps the scent thrrow and hardens them as well... I am as confused as you are... I am a noob too, yikes! And I am on a soapmaking journey now, to heck with this candlemaking for a few days!
  11. Those looks so great and I bet they smell yummy too!
  12. FWIW: I am new and do not have a scale: I made 2 small 8 oz test candles over the weekend to test 2 different new FO's. For each seperate candle; I took a glass measuring cup and measured 10 oz of the ezsoy. I put it in the pot and added 1/2 T of white beeswax to the ezsoy. I let it heat up to 175F and added 1/2 oz of FO, and stirred like mad off the heat. I let the wax cool to 100 degrees and poured it into 1 8 oz warmed container. Usually I cool to 98F but the beeswax made the pour a bit hotter. JS fo so the throw was not as intense as BCN but Hubbly liked it and he has a better nose than me. HTH!!
  13. How do I get into the classy? I have some fo's I want to sell too. I tried to get in and could not get in!!!TIA!
  14. I like them all, more creative then what I am doing and they look so cool too!
  15. Hello, I just tried out adding some BW to the EZ Soy and I found that I needed to pour a bit sooner from 95 F to 105 F. So is cure time the same- 2 weeks; or is it less time? TIA!
  16. Well, I poured 2 test container candles tonight. Trying the BW in EZ soy I added some BW pellets to EZ soy and am testing a couple new JS Fo's. So far, I like the BW added to the Soy. It pours a bit sooner, but the results are better, IMO! I also bought a new glass container for .97 cents at Walmart. I liked the thick glass and the shape, so I am testing the wick too, and DH says I could do 3 wicks for that jar, we will see!
  17. I bought some from Candle Science, and I am in Ca, shipping was 13.00, and I placed a 40 dollar order. Maybe try tins? I They weight less I think. I found a cool candle container at Walmart for .97 cents, a triangle shape classy and thicker lipped. I just did a test pour in it, so I am not real sure how it will hold up. HTH!
  18. FYI: I placed 2 orders last Sunday. One for 2 Fo's from JS, via UPS to CA. I got them yesterday and shipping was ten bucks. I also placed an order through CandleScience the same day, via UPS; shipping 13 bucks, and I ordered glass containers, and 50 dollars worth of stuff. I will get this shipment Monday.
  19. Hi, I am a noob too. I bought a container kit from BCN with ez soy. The jelly jars were not to my taste, but everything else rocked. I liked ez soy ok, but I tried adding a little BW and it seems to have a creamier surface, and I pour a little bit warmer than 95-98, now I pour at 100-105. I still have not tried adding any dye chips, but I did two test candles tonight and I used JS Vanilla Buttercream Crunch for 1 and Chestnuts and Brown Suger for 1. I think the BW will help, I did a search on the net nd alot of soy users add bw to the soy, around 3%. Have fun!!
  20. I would reccommend totally scrumptous I am a noob but the scent is fab!
  21. I just got my 4 Fo's order from JS. Not overly thrilled- most smelled very bitter, maybe I got the candle nose though! At first I thought the FO's were very "layered and complex" so maybe I am just to much of a noob to figure the layers out! Anyways, let me know what is going on here!!! Here are my picks 1-4: Totally Scrumptous- nice orange scent Blueberry Cheesecake- kinda smell the berries tied were Chestnuts and Brown Sugar and Vanilla Buttercream Crunch- they smelled the same to me... So far, I prefer BCN's Creme Brulee and Verbana Berry over these 4 scents.
  22. Those are very classy! I like them alot!
  23. Try adding dark blue for a more intense black, voilet would work too; I did that for hairdos anyways, FWIW>
  24. At 4.95 per oz at BCN, it seems expensive to use. Isn't this just a shimmery eyeshadow type of thing???
  25. Thanks, I will test over 3.5 hours. Right wick for burn time, good to know. The cold/hot throw are fine. Not cracking or frosting either, I guess I just liked to light the candle and then blow it out to smell the cold throw again! Total noob! Thanks again!
