  1. I poured 4 candles..same wax...same container..same wick..different fragrances. Three of them burned good and basically the same, but one tunneled. These are LX28 in a 12oz metro jar with 100% blue grass soy and I thought the lightest scent was the one that tunneled. What causes this? Thanks, Lola
  2. top of murrayhill, why does the flame dance in this Jar? Carrie, I wicked it up to a 1212 and burned it for about 5 hours and it is almost out to the edges. Thanks, Lola
  3. I went up to a HTP105 and it is still not a full melt pool??
  4. Yes, it does seem like it starts when the burn gets about half way down the wax. Otherwise the candles burn pretty well. It's frustrating...
  5. The opening is 3" but the widest part of the container is closer to 4". Can too much wick cause smoking? Thanks, Lola
  6. I seem to have a lot of trouble with my wicks smoking (even when I diligently keep them trimmed). I use Bluegrass Soy in an 18oz elevation jar and usually double wick it with two RRD40s. I am beginning to think that the FO is too heavy.I generally use about 6% (300g of wax with 18g of FO). Is this too much FO? Thanks, Lola
  7. I am finding that several of the candles that otherwise burn fine seem to accummulate black soot in the wax from the burn. I know if I put colorant into the candle this will make this less obvious, but what do you think causes this. Most of the time it is when I am double wicking with either RRD40 or LX20 in Bluegrass soy. (18oz elevation jar) Thanks, Lola
  8. I am trying to perfect an 18oz elevation Jar using Bluegrass Soy and a heavy fragrance called Pumpkin Cheesecake. I tried two LX21 wicks but that was still to small. Can anyone recommend what wicks to try for this? Thanks, Lola
  9. I put the wrong wick into some testers and it is too small. I would like to be able to use these tester candles for myself. Is there anyway to get a second wick into the candle? I don't mean to take out the first one, just to put in a second one to get the melt pool all the way to the sides of the container. Thanks, Lola
  10. What happens if you trim a wick too short. I have a 18oz elevation jar candle with a heavy FO. I thought I had trimmed it to 1/4" before I lit it but once it was lit the flame was huge and flickering and smoking (it is double wicked with an RD40). Anyway, I blew it out and trimmed it again and now the flames are too small. Should I take some of the melted wax out? Thanks, Lola
  11. I know Essential Oils are not the best way to fragrance a candle, but if anyone out there has had the least bit of luck using essential oils I would sure be happy to hear about it. I am trying a new jar. It holds about 300g of wax so I am guessing its about 10oz. I have been using an 18oz elevation jar, but I just had to try something with STRAIGHT sides. I use Blue Grass 100% soy wax and started doing my testing in this 10oz Metro Jar with an HP83. (I am putting in 18g of FO which is about 6.5%) The jar is 3" across. If you can suggest the EO's and the wick size I would be forever grateful! Thanks,

Does this wick sound about right? Also, I want to make a candle with Essential Oils. Can someone give me a suggestion on what might work (EO blend, wicks size) for this jar? Thanks, Lola
