  1. Well if you know me... not really my first time at taper candles but my first time at flower tapers. Not my best picture since I used a camera phone... YIKES! You get the idea anyway. Hand made and the wick is only an inch long so no worries about flying flaming calla lilies. Scented candles very slow right now so being very creative with lots of new ideas and products.. even if my wife moved out and left me a couple months ago ( after 29 years). Wasn't a big surprise because of whats been going on the past few years but it is kinda strange to come home on a friday to a note and all her stuff gone along with the 9 year old. Damn facebook and those old boyfriends! Been at the mall since Nov of last year and just packed up on Easter so outdoor shows here I come! Almost single, professional wick dipper at your service! Bruce
  2. Love those colors! Been a few years since I messed with soaps... so how long has charcoal been used as color for Cold Process? I don't seem to remember it being an option about 4 years ago. Bruce
  3. Very nice soap. Never seen better. Now i want to take out all my supplies and make soap! Bruce
  4. You girls are a bunch of pervs! I make lots of stuff that's interesting to me but not quite ready to be released to the general population. lol I think you might have one of those items also. I just put them on a shelf and keep looking at them to see what else I can do to improve them. I have lots of shelves of crazy things I have made over the past 32 years. Why not just do a water candle using a 2 inch core candle? Would be faster than building up all those layers. Keep plugging away. Bruce
  5. This is so weird! We collect geode rocks from a famous local area in the midwest and some of those geodes have kaolin powder (along with calcite crystals) in them. Some have an ounce or more. Wouldnt that be cool to use this in home-made soaps.... self collected Kaolin from 350 million year old hollow rocks! Bruce
  6. Im a fan of the 4x your money but I also give quantity discounts that could bring my profit down to the 3x range... but it puts more cash in my pocket. Bruce
  7. I say take some new photos of your jar candles. It looks like your using a fish-eye lens or maybe just taking the pictures too close. The jars and labels look "bowed" and "distorted". I design and print all my labels also and it is a money saver. I have over 200 scents and each of those has its own picture (which I try to take myself) for the label. Wouldn't have it any other way. I like to keep my hands on everything. That way there is only one person to praise..... or blame. Bruce
  8. I would have to say that a wax used for candle carving would be great. Most are around 140mp and have qualities that keep the way pliable while warm. Bruce
  9. Same one but cheaper depending on shipping to where you live. http://www.candlewic.com/store/Product.aspx?q=c27,p279&title=Fluted-Base-Former Bruce
  10. Well lookie what you have been up to! Super job on the candles!
  11. Hey good lookin how have you been! Nice to see you around Sabrina. Nice candles! Bruce
  12. Well hi there Donita! Now if we only had Garf back... Nice candle there girl. Im putting my thinking cap on this year because the regular scented stuff is selling very slow. I'm going to have to cut some wax and get creative to continue this candle making business. Bruce
  13. You know I think CandleWic has a deal on pouring pots every now and then where they are like 4 bucks each with a 75.00 purchase or something like that. That what you were thinking about Dust or just full of shit like you said. lol
  14. I want to play too! Old post of mine: http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41285&highlight=flat+twisted
  15. Well heck I wick all my shrooms! That's my standard! Bruce
  16. So you sell soy blend candles which are good for the environment but then you go out and burn your supply boxes? Can't they take them at a local recycle center?
  17. You have to have a well organized production area to crank out that many candles a day. I have done about 450 candles a day but it takes time to wick, print top and bottom labels cut them out, glue them on, ect so when all is said and done the work week ends up with about 1200 to 1500 wide mouth half pint candles being poured and processed. 1200 a week is an easy amount to do if its planned out. Over that, on a steady basis would have to have lots of space and a nice size commercial wax melter. For one person, you have to be sure quality doesn't suffer as the production goes up. That's a huge problem that many growing companies end up with and many times never notice it until it's too late. Bruce
  18. Those colors go with that scent perfect. Too bad we have never been able to get that scent wicked right... darn hippie smells! Bruce
  19. Man that's sweet, I don't want to make pillars but looking at those makes me want to 2nd guess my decision. Bruce
  20. Hey girl I think you almost have those things figured out! lol Very nice work! Bruce
  21. I third the BNL version from BCN. We also name it stress relief and get 2 product names from one bottle of oil. Bruce
  22. Your correct, I just thought most of the new ones had never thought of it as percent of total candle weight. Bruce
  23. I'm going to throw in my anal view of fragrance percents into the mix. If you add 6 percent of oil to any amount of wax the end candle will only contain 5.66 percent fragrance oil. If you have 5 lbs of wax (80oz) x 6% = 4.8oz oil. your end candles will weigh 84.8 oz (the amount of wax plus the weight of oil. ) 4.8 divided by the total weight of 84.8 is 5.66% So your end candle are not 6% fragrance oil. Just a little info that some of you might have not take into consideration. Bruce
  24. Dan told me we was going to get the old 123sp in sometime down the road .. but is working on a new blend right now that might blow them all away....
