  1. Well thats just silly. If your going to play a game make it COD UO now thats worth getting hooked on. I saw both my kids fall to the dark side and play wow and they look like they are in a trance. I never tried it cause I didnt want to get hooked.
  2. I for one am glad to see Dan back in the business. I started with his company almost a decade ago and have seen way too many suppliers close their doors over the past 9 years. I ordered wax, wicks, pottery, fragrance oils and much more from them and without their help I would not have been able to survive as a full time chandler this long. I stuck with Dan from Missy's to Cape Coral which I have to admit was a touch under the overall quality of the Missy's experience but I have no problem ordering from the new company since I feel Cape coral was a just a quick reinvention of Missy's after him and his wife split. The boy that always answered the phone at Cape Coral was a great guy, I hope hes doing well were ever he is. Bruce
  3. Geez, you even had to add the 3" you couldnt just say 11' by 15' ... I guess size DOES matter to some women. Bruce
  4. But they already said they were not going to sell the candles at that same venue if I "re-read" the original post right. Looks to me that the customer didnt ASK for a price break either so that would imply they were willing and expected to pay retail prices. Hence my statement. Bruce
  5. Well, Im from Missouri the "show me" state, so "show me" were I need to move to so I can find those customers that will pay 115.00 a candle and im THERE!
  6. Contract? Thats crazy, they didnt ask for wholesale prices and you have no way to regulate what someone does with your candles after you sell to them at retail prices. For wholesale you can do this but not if someone just walks up and wants to buy a bunch. You can refuse to sell to them the next time, but I see no big deal with it when you get paid retail for your product. They said another venue is where they will be selling them so no conflict there either. Bruce
  7. You might be right Top, maybe hers is diluted with solvent or something. I know my patch eo is thick and dark unlike any fragrance oils I have used. Bruce
  8. Thats weird that your having a problem with the candle burning too fast with that wick. My problem with Patch EO has always been it takes a monster wick to keep it going. Bruce
  9. Just a marketing ploy! It is not a CANDLE its just a way to smell up your house and they use the word candle to help sell it. LED flicker light and it looks like it puffs out scent just like the deals in the restrooms on a timer. It runs on batteries, that should tell you something, you cant heat something with batteries it just takes too much battery power so its not warming the stuff at all. Bruce
  10. I say both if you ask me. After 8 years of making the scented stuff, I still have plenty of scents that I would like to carry but have not found any supplier that could provide me those scents that have the fragrance throw I require. Bruce
  11. Well hell if it didnt work and the seal broke he would atleast have one heck of a water candle! Bruce
  12. Ok new idea! Do what you did the first time since you already had it set up and know how to do it. You said it would hold water with the bathroom sealer so fill up one side with water to keep pressure in that side and then pour the empty side with the wax. With the water on the other side it will keep the wax from going into the water. Wax floats on water so the water will have more pressure on that side than the wax will have since its more weight so that will keep it from leaking! I would use room temp water... or maybe even hot water to keep the wax from setting up too fast. Bruce
  13. Pour a full bucket of wax, repouring as needed to keep it level on top and cut it in half with a band saw. Bruce
  14. If I poured a candle and that happened to me I would say it had too much vybar in it. If its a wax preblend that may but the problem... too much vybar, but if it has enough vybar in it to wrinkle that much it would also "lock up" the scent and you would not get a good smell out of the candle when you burn it. I would not think pouring temp would help you out at all. I can pour anywhere from 160 to 190 and no changes in how the top looks. Test burn your candle and see how the scent goes threw the house and go from there. Bruce
  15. Yes that would be me cracking the geodes. Heres how that goes along with everything.... in MY mind I oked the idea of geodes in my booth because I make candles and incense... the incense go along with meditation which goes along with all the beliefs of crystals... which brings me to living in one of the best areas in the world for collecting geodes!!! Ding Ding Ding. We take unopened geodes along with us to our shows and sell and crack them open for people. Cool stuff I tell ya. I collected over 120 five gallon buckets of geodes last year! Thanks everyone else for your replies to the pics and video. I didnt have to do anything to the video but drag the clip into the program and it did all the other crap to the video all by itself... I thought it was kind of cool and got a kick out of it so I went ahead and posted it. Sorry I dont have much time to answer more questions I leave for the mall at 9 am and get home close to 10 pm so it dont leave me much down time. Bruce
  16. Well here is a picture of a yellow and purple candle I made today and the mushroom that I made from the drippings. I did a video but it only recorded for 3 minutes and used up a whole 256 mb memory stick! lol If I can edit it to a smaller size I will youtube it. I dont get it all cut in that time but a fair chunk of it since the first 30 seconds I dont really start cutting. Bruce I found a way to reduce the size of the video BUT its kind of abstract so your not going to be able to see me carve in real time just a cool video mix of it. Im not going to leave the video up for long so watch it while you can and I will work on the original video to make it smaller if I can find a program on the computer to do it. (it was fun messing with this video) Turn up the volume and jam with me! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xCMZKLXb9E
  17. Vio this is my favorite candle post I made: http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=gallery;action=display;num=1097633594;start=0 Ducky, I dont have 2 kinds of wax and dont use any special additives to make the wax stay soft longer. Its the same wax inside and out. I guess the core candle could be poured with a lower mp wax but no one burns them either way. Bruce
  18. I hate when people say things that are not correct and or misleading to others. #1 There is no heat resistance in the glaze no way no how 100% wrong. The glaze everyone uses is just like floor wax, which is what most carvers used years ago anyway. #2 The glaze doesn't penetrate into the wax... that's why its called glaze it a TOP coat and doesn't pull any color to the surface either. If you wax a car the color of the car looks deeper, same thing. You can peel off the glaze just like a thin plastic coating. Bruce
  19. I'll be at the mall all day Thursday Ducky, pick some colors out and I will cut some wax and let you see what I came up with. It will give me something to do anyway. I might even have time to use the camera and fire up a short video for youtube even? Bruce
  20. I think thats the same link I posted a few months ago. Shes still as slow as she was 3 months ago! lol Bruce
  21. From the top it looks like you used a fish eye lens on the candle so the top seems larger than the bottom which is not good. Straight on shot would work better and a more bland background would work for a web page. Not feeling the edge thing ya got going on either. Would be ok with just a fade edge but the design in the fade is buggin me for some reason. Bruce
  22. Nice to see you posting again! Nice looking candles too! Bruce
  23. I use to know lots of glass blowers and spinners from the old days but never see them in the malls making the stuff anymore. I wonder if the insurance rates are sky high for them because of the big gas tanks they use. Would make it hard to come out ahead. I do see lots of the imported spun glass in the mall at Christmas time but its not the same. There was on older man set up at a mall in KC when I was carving candles that said he wanted to teach me and offered to take my up to MI and take training, but I was just too young and had my plate full with candles, cars and girls (not in that order) so I declined. He had a son that was not interested in learning and he wanted to train someone so the art could be passed on, but I wasn't sure that was all he wanted to try to pass along.... crazy old farts you never know about them. Would have been a fantastic deal if I would have felt right about, but I didn't so that was that. Bruce
  24. I wonder if depending on when you noticed the temp problem you could have hit the outsides of the molds with a heat gun real quick and saved more of them? Bruce
