I add my FO first, right after I put in the pour pot, then add dye. I find that some of the FO's affect the color of the dye. Discovered that the hard way with pink dye and Rose Petals FO. I made the mistake of putting the dye in first and had a very pretty pink, then when I added the FO, it turned it a bright flourescent pink. I have had it do with other FO's and colors as well, but not as bad as the pink one, LOL!

I agree about the wicking. Hawaiiansun I has made several of these and has done some testing. You might PM her and see if she can help, if she doesn't read this thread.

Curing time varies by the type of wax. I don't use and haven't tested that particular wax, so maybe someone else will jump in and help. For scales, you will want preferably a digital scale that will read in tenths of an ounce. I bought mine on ebay, but I think others have bought scales at Walmart and such. Peak has wonderful fragrance oils that do very well in soy, you can't go wrong with almost anything they carry.

Jennie You don't have to add anything to the palm waxes. Sometimes they are a bear to wick. You pour them very hot and let them cool slowly to get the best looking candles. They aren't overacheivers on scent throw, so don't expect them to throw as well, without a little curing time. Sometimes they can change colors as well, why I don't know. I made a candle and added navy blue dye, after it was all said and done, they candle was purple, LOL! It is really better for you to try it for yourself, that's what I always do. That way you know for sure. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla, you may love it. They make very pretty candles.

I agree you should be measuring your FO's by weight. Also, you should buy a wick sampler pack, that way you have several different wicks to test. For a 4" jar, double 104's sound about right, though depending on your FO, you could go up or down a size in your wick. Welcome to the board and happy testing!

Henry please keep us posted on your results. I am still searching for something better than what I have. I have tried the ones with paraffin in them, but am not happy with the smoking I get from them, and in some cases, the throw of certain FO's. I am very curious if this behaves for the most part like the original CB with a better throw.

You can, but you will probably have to wick up on them. They are cooler burning wicks.

I am using 5 watt bulbs for mine. I might get a slab of the 4761 to try. Thanks for the info TeriM, I wish I had thought about that before I got my last order from them, last week. Maybe next time I have to order I will try it.

They are out with a new Ecosoya CB Advanced. I have an e-mail on it at home. It is a reformulated version of the last Ecosoya CB Advanced that was just introduced at the first of the year. My guess it was reformulated due to the poor scent throw. Anyway, it is supposed to be pure soy, without the botanicals. Not sure how they are going to keep the consistency and all of the other good qualities of the other Ecosoya CB Advanced, with a pure soy. When I get home tonight, unless someone posts it before me, I will post the e-mail I received on the new and improved Ecosoya CB Advanced.

I have been thinking about trying IGI-4761, as I can get that locally. Anyone have any opinions on this wax?

Smaller than a regular hurricane. You make them in a silicone mold and insert a lightbulb assembly up inside of it. They ususally are grubby looking, but can also be smooth sided. I have tried the 1343 with microcrystalline, but would like to try a good votive wax that will hold a lot of FO.

I am just getting into these as well. Would also be interested in some recommendations.
