  1. Try Sams club, I get my lids from there and they do not have writing on them. They are back by the foil and food service items.
  2. Which one of these companies has the stronger marshmallow in your opinion? I have so many marshmallows on my endless hunt for thee one and am tempted to try these from the above suppliers. Anyone have any imput before I order?
  3. Well I must be the black sheep here because I would not replace the candle until I got it back and inspected it. I would ask her ship it at HER cost and reimburst her if it was defective. If you are confident in your product and you know for a fact that everything you did was correct then there should be no problem with the product. You said you have been doing this for 3 years, how many have complained about something like this? Or better yet has this ever happened to you during your extensive testing where you think wick drowing after 10 mins. may be possible with that particular formulation? How do you know she just didn't follow your burning instructions and let it tunnel and now wants you to replace it. Or just wants to see if she can get another one for free, the worst your going to say is no and if you send her another one no questions asked than it only cost her an email. Some people make stuff like this their hobby. Just see how much they can get for nothing. On the other side she may really have a defective candle... but you will not know until you see it. You can't fix something or prevent it from happeing agian until you get it back. Good customer service does not mean you just replace things on a customers word. You have a right to get the product back to see what went wrong if you are expected to refund or replace an item. You need to make sure #1 if there really is an issue and #2 fix it so it never happens again to someone else.
  4. Maybe they want you to send it back because UPS would not honor the claim if they failed to pack it correctly. Even if the box is smashed, any shipping company will try to say it was the shippers fault if there was not 3 inches of padding. Having the UPS inspector come out to your home should be enough. The replacement money comes from UPS insurance for the damaged box, not out of candlewic's pocket. It sounds like they screwed up. I wouldn't threaten them with a chargeback thou, I would be nice and calm about it. Whatever the size of your order regardless, if there was that much damage they can't just send you out replacements at their cost with out getting the product back. In a perfect world they should just take your word for it and make the customer happy by fixing your issue. Unfortunatly we don't so I understand that you are very mad at not getting your stuff that you paid for and can't use. I would sit tight and let them handle it, they have been around forever and will fix it. It will just take a little time.
  5. GB is a 6 pallet min. But if you can swing it you will save a ton of money. The last time I spoke to Jason it was only 32 cents a pound if you buy direct. You could sell at least half of it at a fraction of what everyone else is charging and still make money for your time. That is all you would have to do is slap a sticker on the box. What if you did a co op for it? Then you wouldn't have to put out your own money? You would most likely be looking at least $3,000 investment.
  6. I wouldn't waste your money on either. I bought both and Millcreek smells like Warm Vanilla sugar and Tenn smells like peppermint and something weird. I have tried every donut scent from almost every supplier and none even smell close to a real donut. Just my opinion.
  7. I always wondered why a few gas stations up here say "use your credit card at no extra charge" I always thought duh there is no extra fee for using your credit card anywhere. At least I have never come across it. Unless you use debit with cash back at a store, and that is only if your bank is charging the fee not the merchant. Just chalk it up to the cost of doing business. Alot of people don't carry cash anymore myself included.
  8. Is this RA that charges 250? I thought I heard this before too. Why would anyone pay that if the majority of the manufactures will dupe what ever you want for free, and send you samples until they get it right for free? Heck put that $250 towards the 25-35 min they all carry anyway. I use or have used all of the the companies OP mentioned and I have had good luck with all of them. I will say that Bellaire is my favorite and yes they dupe.
  9. Candlelady, Thank you very much for your input, however I did google what I was looking for before posting here. As most of us do use search engines as well as the handy dandy search feature on this forum. Owning and operating a candle business for over 10 years now I think I have done plenty of "Leg Work". Geeze, I wouldn't want to ask other candlemakers a question on a candle forum again, I just might be considered stupid and lazy. But thank you for your response to this post just the same. I am sure you did not intentionally mean to come off condescending and rude.
  10. If the burn is good and the scent throw is good I would leave it alone. Most people don't care about small amounts of mushrooming. If they are huge blooms then maybe try a smaller wick.
  11. .25 cents each!!!! Wow! You can try Uline.com they are way cheaper than a 25 cents a bag.
  12. I need the 1 pound and half pound kraft bag with window. Does anyone know a supplier that has both in 500-1000+ wholesale of each. I have seen alot of sites that offer them but they are way to expensive, anymore than 10 cents a bag is too much. The supplier I used to get them from has gone out of business.
  13. I have one from Home Depot. I love mine because I can control the temp. I crank high for cleaning my molds and pour pots and I keep it at low to smooth out the tops of my candles. The one I used to use was from the craft store. Just a plain on/off setting type. That worked just fine for smoothing out the tops of candles, it just took longer. I would go to the craft store or your local HD or Lowes first before buying one off ebay. :highfive:
  14. This is one of the reasons why I stopped doing shows. I used to love them until I ran into the type of people just like you just did. Rude people taking pictures, jerks asking you for your secrets etc and people that were more interested in chatting and taking up space than buying. I always made great money at shows, but when the price of gas went up I saw a huge difference in what I brought home compared to years past. Just not worth it to me anymore.

  16. Oregon trails has "thee" Pumpkin scent according to my testers. It is called Ol South or southern Pumpkin Pie. I sent it to testers along with about 15 other pumpkin scents and that one won hands down for being the most pumpkin-ey. Raves left and right over that one, and it was super strong and pure pumpkin no spice. I personally didn't like it. I like spice with my pumpkin but I guess it is not always what I care for. It is what the customer likes and what sells. HTH Oh and I used soy and cotton wicks : )
  17. I would contact the company they were purchased from. That sounds weird that they melted. I am sure they would want them back to see what happened.
  18. I went to bed bath and beyond today and found this neat little whipper thing called an Areolatte. It looks kind of cheezy but works really good! I made a few jar candles with it just playing around and it stirs and mixes super fast. I think this just be my new favorite gadget. By the way they let me use that $5.00 off cupon so was only $14.99 normally $19.99:yay: Just thought I would share.
  19. Thanks to everyone that responded. I sent an email a few hours ago and I am waiting for a response. I don't know Doneens personal email. If anyone does would you mind PMing it to me. I just sent the email to General and Damaged on the web site list of emails.
  20. I placed an order with BCS and it arrived in a good time frame, however one of the oils spilled all over the rest of my order. I really think they could have secured the bottles better; most suppliers use tape, or have a some type of seal. These were just screwed on. I called to let them know what happened and I was told to weigh and measure the contents etc and wait for a return call to see how they wanted to handle it. I am not one to complain but I kind of think the situation could have been handled a little better. I was very nice about it and told them that the rest of the order was salvageable. I personally think that they should have at least offered to send me a replacement for the estimated amount I was missing. I was nice enough not to bitch and complain about it getting all over bag of wicks and the other bottles of oil. I have to take the time to clean everything off. I could have demanded the whole shipment me returned and replaced. I just think it’s crazy for me to have to measure and weigh, wait for a phone call and now go and clean everything that was affected by the spill. All for what??? for a whopping $1.30 they offered to refund me. I know more was missing then that but at this point I don't even care! I will not be buying from them again. First and last order. I am just more annoyed than anything.
  21. Good luck with that one. :rolleyes2 I have tried every marshmallow on the face of the earth and none are "strong". The most authentic was NG but very light. If you find one that is please pm me where you got it:yay:
  22. If you are sick of the drama with a company that makes an oil you need, send the oil to Alpha and have it copied. Since some of these suppliers started raising there prices through the roof I have had some duped and you can't tell the difference at all. Scent throw hot and cold is the same if not better, and I am spending LESS THAN HALF of what I was paying! They offer a 5 pound min and they will send you samples for free until they get it right. Too much competition out there for these suppliers to charge outragous admin & handling fee. You just have to call them on it and let them know that you don't need them as much as they think you do. Wax.. you are screwed. Unless you can do 20 thousand pounds a year you just have to find a place you can pick it up or never have less that 10 cases shipped to you at a time. I always did 10 - 20 cases and had it shipped to my business address. Pallets are cheaper, you can do a pallet of wax from NC to NY for $100.00 and for about $20.00 more to a residence.
  23. Now with what Vicky pointed out about their shopping cart, I will call them tomorrow to see what they say the correct "actual" rate is. Thanks:grin2: In general I really think businesses should offer a better shipping rate for smaller orders. That is the first thing I look at when trying a new supplier. If you are going to gouge me for shipping then you can keep your product, I can have it duped if it is that good! God I just hate postage profiteering! I am sure most suppliers ship way more volume than I do and even I can ship a 1.5 lb package FedEx or UPS for less than $11.00 to CA from NY. I also hate any "handling fee" per order to cover supplies --- please give me a break, especially if you are shipping in a free box from USPS and using shredded newspaper to pack the order. Tacky! If you are an online business, just exactly how did you think your products were going to reach the customer? Figure it into the cost of the product like everyone else. You are making money, just not so obnoxious about it. And last but not least to my small rant about postage… “Insurance”. I will gladly pay for insurance for USPS. But when I do, please do ship it uninsured with some bogus story that you insure parcels through your business. You basically are taking the chance and pocketing the money. My husband thought that was a good idea when I was complaining about it. He thought why should the post office make additional money? It’s not like they give it back if the package arrives in tact. So figure out all the additional money they make on us ”insuring” that they do there job. I guess in a way it is smart. You are building up your own damage fund with the excess insurance dollars. But… exactly how do you prove the items were damaged if you had a claim. I guess you rely on the customer’s word…… I think I would trust the postmaster first. But if that is the risk people are willing to take so be it. Just something about knowing I paid for something and didn’t really get it is still stealing to me. Anyway, no specific rant was about this company, just in general stuff that gets on my nerves that I have experienced.
  24. Do they charge some crazy handleing fee or something? I just tried to order 1 pound of fragrance and the shopping cart said $13.20 UPS ground for shipping. Geeze! Talk about postage profiteering! I am only in NY not Japan! Sorry don't need it that bad!
