When I plan for my fragrance list for FR's, I try to choose a nice variety, including: clean, spicy, fruity, flowery, unique and sometimes a bit risque <sp> (i.e., Monkey Farts, Butt Naked, etc.) This has worked very well for me. Good luck and congratulations!

I use Constant Contact now. I pay $20 per month. I find it user friendly. And it has paid for itself over the holiday season. Overall, I am satisfied with it. However, as with almost anything, you get out of it what you put into it. Someone once told me of others when I was on "the search." I have a website and have it submitted monthly to search engines (by someone other than me--who knows what they are doing! LOL) I have tried FGMarket with hits, but not many and no sales from this site. I have also tried "sample" companies (where you send samples and they send out with other samples to potential customers.) It seems to me that the only ones making money on this was the listing enterprises. I have found that many of my hits come from web searches and from links on other sites. I have traded links with other companies similar and different to my products. Also printing your website addy on ALL of your printed documentation, letters, etc. Offline I have tried big ads in the phone books, newspapers, phone book covers, etc. The best response I have ever received was from word of mouth advertising and from my snail mail and email newsletters. Try cutting down on your f/o. Perhaps you don't need as much of that one. Also make sure your wax is getting hot enough to blend the f/o and the wax. Sometimes with "heavier" fragrances you need less oil and more heat. HTH. Good luck.

We've had our business for 8 years. The last two years, our sales had been going down. However, this year our sales are on the rise and much, much better. It does seem that people are still a little hesitant to let go of those $$$'s.

I have bought out many candle maker's businesses. However, I only buy inventory. I don't want their name, website, etc. since I already have my own. And if buying inventory, you will want to look at the products first, then get an itemized list. Be careful with b&b products, as they can go bad--like the oils, etc. I also make sure that I will be able to use a lot of the product--and of that I won't use, I check to see if I can resell it. HTH

I find that most people just ask...well, I don't know why. They really don't seem to want to know. To these people I usually just say that I mix wax, color and scent...That usually satisfies them. For those who are persistent, I will tell them that I don't give out my sources. And I gladly refer them to the book by Betty Oppenheimer: the Candlemaker's Companion. I shipped a BOX via USPS. Someone between two post offices had the nerve to cut open the tape from the bottom, STEAL a pound of f/o, then retape the box. I figured it out when the tape did not match up. The guy at the "receiving" post office said basically too bad. I ship a lot UPS and FedEx now.

My question is WHY would you put something that could be squished or damaged into an envelope? It never ceases to amaze how I receive items sometimes!

Yes...I just finished a show today and people were asking for Christmas Tree and the likes. ...and the temp. was pretty warm today, too. Looks to be a good sellin' season! (I hope, I hope!) LOL

If you are looking for just Mason jars, why not go to your local store, like Walmart, a hardware store, etc. and talk with the section manager and have them order cases for you. That is what I had done due to the too high shipping costs. The problem I ran into was that WM was seasonal. But most of the time they could and did order cases for me as I needed them. Good luck! Sounds like you need to secure your wick to the container. Usually this is done with wick stickums, glue dots, etc. HTH

I use a lower melt point, container wax for wickless. It adheres to the jar nicely and melts quickly for quicker fragrance release. For tarts, I use a higher melt point wax which will release from the metal molds. HTH

THere are a lot of trade/wholesale/gift shows especially in St. Louis and Collinsville or Belleville area. If you are serious about wholesaling, you may want to do one of these shows. They are pricey, but you can get some good business from them Regarding GoDaddy....no experience here. I would rather pay and own my own website. JMHO Best of luck to ya.

I had ordered a case and definitely made my money back plus. However, I found that I was seeing more and more of these roses at shows. No matter what the vendor sold, they had some of these roses. So I sold all of mine before I was stuck with them.

Does anyone know where to get little novelty candles....just made of white wax to be dipped? Or candles attached by a wick? Looking for shapes, not just tapers. TIA.
