  1. I also live in out in the country ( small community) small town and only sell by word of mouth not in stores. i sell mine $2.50 a bag, 6 tarts to a bag. i still make money off these, the standard tart mold dont hold a full oz and even those places like yankee is selling them for over a $1 each, i wouldn't do it. because not only would i not sell any around here.( big city probably could) but i personaly wouldn't pay $1 for a tart thats does'nt weight a oz, the foiled lined cups from kycandle will hold more and i have bought them from people just to test a scent. for $1 . so much depends on where you live, round here the big shots that does have lots of money wants the big name things LOL! i have some party lites tarts that a lady was selling in her store, i keep them in a bag for when people comes by house to pick up their order or hubby takes order to them, i let them see the party lites to see which they would preferr LOL! they are amazed at how pretty & stronger throw mine have even cold. plus the little thin hearts are so disformed and thin . i do no travel in my sell, nor to stores, nor set up at craft shows, so i can sell at this price and still come out at least $6 ahead from tarts made from one LB of wax, plus most people buy more than one bag, most buys from 4-6 0r 8 bags at a time, then i will hear from them the next month. so i think you have to consider how much it cost you to make & sell tarts to know what to charge from them and where you live. this ist a hobby for me that i don't want to get so busy at, that i don't have time for all the other things in my life.
  2. Becky at JS , is very helpful, but for some reason the fo's i order from JS , don't always do well in my parsoy wax, out about 30 samples i think i have 3 scents thats was strong and have customers for. mojito cocktail, chestnuts & brownsugar , hyacinth chula orchid and country clothes line. i just ordered 6 2oz samples , butterscotch candy, 2 different coconuts, buttercreme hazelnut, mai tai cocktail and fruit slices , only the fruit slices had a little throw and i can't keep buying scents for some reason don't work for me or in my wax. it could be something i'm doing or my wax. because lots have raved about their good scent throw with js.
  3. same here, no color because the oil its self makes my wax a little creamy / off white color.
  4. I know bigger bottles , shipping is cheaper or same but i don't like to get 16 oz bottles to start with and wouldn't you know it, this one lady is one that likes snuggle baby besides me , i'm always afraid that the oils will go bad before i use them up . i sell only tarts and baskets with them & warmers but it only by word of mouth, i don't do shows & etc.. just hobby thing, last couple weeks i got orders for about 55 bags of tarts, this week i might not get any, so i don't keep a bunch made up. just do another batch once my jar is empty unless i need more to fill an order. i made some ky's mixed berries up the other night and the heat or something has made the oil go bad, i got a 8oz bottle and made a couple of batches from it, made up a new batch the other night and the tarts didn't smell good at all like they did from the other batches. so i'm thinking the heat ruined the oil, this was my second bottle because the mixed berries sold good.
  5. I use parsoy for my tarts and after they cool , i put them in fridge for a few mins, then take out and they fall out on their own or i tilt them and tap lightly on table, i don't have wax left in mine, just on bottom ...outside. i'm not to steady of a pourer LOL! i still spill/over flow a little some of them. for this problem i turn them upside down on paper towels that i have laid over newpaper, then i use my heat gun on them, the wax melts and runs down into towels.
  6. Thanks, you both are right, peaks could be completly different than snuggle baby and thats what they want , ,grrrrrrr this shipping is killing me, last order was over $8 for shipping 2 scents, 8oz & a 2 oz bottle.
  7. I have a order for snuggle baby , which i get from ky candle. but since i'm ordering another bottle of amish Harvest from peaks, i thought i would save on shipping and just buy peaks baby scent. but i don't know if its as good as the snuggle baby has anyone used them both ? thanks
  8. I got it and made tarts out of it, it was ok but still not the smell of the hot toddy candle i had smell at the library one day, that candle had more maple, caramel & rum in it.
  9. They look great..don't know how else you wanted them to look, they are so pretty, i would love to have them sitting on a mirrored tray...on my coffe table in my livingroom those are my livingroom colors. i don't make pillars but i like them sitting around and i do burn them some.
  10. Pretty, love those deep bright colors, reminds me of a beautiful sunset
  11. Thanks Chris...that's what i get for rushing and not checking what i typed LOL!
  12. I done a search for this little 3"square libby jar i got at dollar store today, but no matter what i put in , it says nothing found . yet i'm sure someone has mentioned these little square jars of Libby"s:undecided
  13. yes you still need labels, the wax does get hot, as well as the dish or warmer its self. plus some people truely don't know how to melt them. i buy my tart warning labels from ky-candle. some people makes their own. i bag my tarts 6 to a bag... so i put a label on bag. unless they are for my kids ,
  14. i use ky-tart/votive wax, 1-1/2 oz fo most time to 1lb & 3 oz wax , gives me 24 nice smooth tarts that pops right out mold. i let them cool then put in fridge for about 5 mins then they pop out easy. melt fast and has a good scent throw, plus ky candle is close to me.
  15. Now if i could make a pillar look good as this one ...i would be making them. its looks perfect burning. thank you for posting your pictures, i'm am thinking about making some pillars for myself and son's wedding but haven't been brave enough to try them.
  16. i use the plastic box at walmart with the 5 on bottom also but i use the glass jars from dollar store more. they are $2 and hold 24 tarts and thats all i make at a time of one scent. and they look pretty sitting there. but if you sell a lot and go to shows i would go for the big shoe boxes. i also use a rubber band on my boxes because they don't seem to close tight, this might not matter but i just feel better with the lid tight. Hth
  17. Thanks, the other ones i made i used the rock salt is why i used it again and the salt didn't melt. but i have been wanting to try some with the vermiculite mixed with the corn cob, so i'll look for that over the weekend, my other ones did dry good, just wish i could remember if it took a long time or not to dry. should have kept notes but i wasn't planing on making them again. LOL! i will add more corn cob if they don't dry out in a couple of days. it might be the humidity, its high here.
  18. Its been awhile since i was fooling with these but hubby wants some to take to men at his new job site. says he can sell a lot for me and these truckers needs them LOL! he takes care of their trucks ( lube, oil, grease & etc..) at a coal/strip mines job, i say you have to be in the country to understand his job, anyway i make up 3 different scents with some fo's i got and realized they were manly scents, colonge. i do not like them in tarts , but i think they would smell nice in a sachet , hanging in a truck. mountain lake & frosted snow drops are smelling good in the mix. i use the ratio of bitter creek instructions, 2 cups of corncob to 1 oz of fo, except i done 1 cup salt, 1 cup corncob . its been 5 days and they are still oily looking . how long should i wait before adding a little more corn cob ? don't want to do it too soon, it might make the smell weaker if i have too much. i use the last of the mix i had in a jar, i had left from the first time i was making these, just for family cars. so i can't remember how long it took for the fo's to soak into the corn cob & salt mixture.:rolleyes2 ooops! sorry its so long.
  19. they will eat the apples off your plastic plate mats too, if you sit bottle down on an uncovered area:laugh2: ask me how i know:laugh2:
  20. LOL! i knew it would eat thru plastic by now, the plastic is to keep wax smears off my scale, my wax is in granules, so when i dropped a few drops they would smear when i tried to wipe them off, now i keep old new papers under it then just turn the scale over to get off wax. i keep paper towel close by, for those time i do spill a little FO.
  21. you think thats bad! i put the oil in my tray on my first small scale i had got from walmart, talk about a messs:laugh2: i now use a metal votive cup, zero out my now bigger & better scale, pour oil into cup on my scale that is in a clear bag, stick around here you will live and learn from other's mistakes:rolleyes2
  22. I would say its to late, so i would just remelt wax and start again. i made one for my son's birthday... had to do it about 3 times to get it placed the way i wanted to, i learnt to measure my picture with the mold first, so after i printed it out it would sit on bottom with no show at top, i allowed extra copy paper at bottom. these are something i'll do only for special days, like my daughter's birthday is coming up, going (try) to do one for her.
  23. Have you tried putting your tarts in the fridge for a few mins ? i do mine and they pop right out. i use the standard fluted tart mold, at christmas i had some jello molds that looked like a santa, bell, tree and snowman i made some tarts in to put in baskets i was doing just for decor. but other than that i stick to reg tart molds. i had some thin candy molds in shape of stars , but it was more trouble than it was worth to fill them up, not very deep. i use parsoy for tarts/ votives wax.
  24. I like it, but why your email addy? lot of people don't have puters or fool with them, wouldn't your phone # be better ? or is that something you going put on later. i sell tarts and baskets only to people that know me or my family so i don't need my # on them plus i always put a scent list in with them. but i also keep my label plain and simple, just my name and tarts, plus a rose.
  25. I looked on search but didn't come up with anything, i'm putting a sachet in a basket i'm doing just for looks but wanted warning label & instructions on where to place it and such, i just use these for my self , so never did make any labels for them, i don't worry about the oil on these because they have been in jar for a few months and is dry but still have a strong scent.
