  1. I haven't made any yet. but the water crystals are used to make smelly jellys out of. air fresheners. you mix them with water, fo and food color. they swell up and soak up the water.
  2. I also got one of the $2.50 coffee mug warmer ( silver & black) and mine don't even keep my coffee warm. didn't know there were 2 brands, will have to check for the rival ones, would they be around the coffee pots ?
  3. Kycandle , just got a new peach scent in. vickey has a special going on with the new scent now, $2 for 2 ounces. till the 8th. i haven't tried it yet.
  4. I put mine in the small zip lock tart bags, or the tie string ones, these are make for tarts, some shrink wrap them.
  5. i like these little container from walmart also , i like the larger ones too because i can bag up some of my tarts and put them in there and whaen some one wants them i just have to get them out. i can stand up 10 bags easy in it. i think they are a shoe box, but they too have the #5 on them
  6. so sorry for your loss, the candle is beautiful and a very thoughtful thing for you to do for your mom.
  7. Wow! congrats. your stuff looks good so i can see how you could sell that much. if everybody in my county came i couldn't sell that amount LOL! i'm sure a big populated area would make a difference.
  8. those are pretty, the colors are perfect, great labels too.
  9. I was surprise to see . wine bottle containers at my local family dollar store, they were close to the pretty hat box'es of different size. they were just tall round box with a lid and rope to carry it, pictures and wording on outside , something about friends & wine . different themes. also had wine charms. i'm thinking of getting one for my daughter inlaw and putting a nice bottle of wine in it ,
  10. I use Peak's honey brown , turns out just like the color (tan) in a apple pie with cinnamon.
  11. My local family dollar store has beautiful boxe's, i call them hat box they are 3 different size, round with lid and beautiful design on them i got one and put tarts, warmer and a christmas teddybear knick-knack in it, with a couple holly flowwers in it, they had about 3 different design ones. and before that i got basket at dollar general store , they were red & green with a christmas tree on them. all of them started at $2 . today family dollar still had some of the box'es but none of the prettty basket with the lineing like they had sat.
  12. Fern , the wax is in round pieces, like it had been in a long tube about 1' 1/2 round. then sliced. he gets this stuff by the truck load for about 5 cents a lb because it has a little lint in it, how it got there or why i don't know, but the wax isn't snow white like the wax i buy is before or after melt. i'm going have to set this aside right now and fool with it only when i have time which isn't much right now:rolleyes2 thanks for your help , i'm going look up about stearic & vybar to see what they are suppose to do.
  13. The wax is real hard, its not soft like the preblend parsoy wax i use. i think i just need the vybar to make it blend with the fo, but i always heard to add stearic also. maybe the stearic makes it stick to the container. this wax will pop right out of a tart mold or like the other night i put some in glass measureing cup, when got cool i just turned cup over and it poppped out.
  14. Thanks to a nice lady ( ashlie) i have me some vybar & stearic. but i don't know how much to add to a pound of wax. and i know you going ask the name of this wax LOL! but i don't know . the man that gave it to me just said for container candles it needed additives. he gets it real cheap some where but its good wax, just have to be filter out. to make tarts i don't have to have the additives but i don't like it for tarts, they have no shine , plus have a sink place, needs repoured. so i'll stick to my parsoy for those. any suggestion at how much to start with ?0
  15. I'm second guessing my self to Goosebay, i have doubt about some of my scents now. Grandson came over lastnight , got cool in his bedroom so had to turn heater on ... he came in here a little while later and said grannie those bears are killing me LOL! i dipped them a few days ago they look real pretty but i can't smell them, he put them out on to the table in dinning room, then my dh asked me this morning was i going let him take to the people at bingo place to sell, i told him no because i couldn't smell them strong like i like for things to be, he says i'm crazy! they have plenty scent in them LOL! creme brulee is what people wants the most and now i;m afraid they don't smell good, i know those i put in the jars did when i made them a couple weeks ago , but maybe its just me but they don't smell as strong. does anyone think the plastic in the lid might suck up the fo out of them:rolleyes2
  16. I hate this when it happens, i have sniffed coffee and everything to try to smell some scents, i can't smell anything with vanilla in it. i have 3 snowman jar full of crembrulee and to me they don't smell strong now like i think they should and i have been worring my self sick at the thought that maybe they not. and these are for other people that ordered them.
  17. another good tip, don't answer your pretty white phone without making sure you didn't get any on yours hands, just because you rushed to finish pouring & putting lid back on the bottle, just because its your son on caller id that is away from home, thats no reason to end up with red dots on the green & white floor, even if it does look a lot like christmas decor, and please don't get a ho;d of that long cord and pull it out of your way why you keeping doing the candle thing as you talksanta chee
  18. You are going have fun, i enjoyed the bears i done yesterday but i gooffed , by not putting a strong scent in them, next time i will use cinnamon or red hotssanta roll they are not as hard to make as i had thought they would be. and the bears i had was from american greeting cards, but i had paid only a dollar for them , they were well made. still pretty to sit around for the holidays.
  19. If i may butt in here on your post, i need to know where evryone gets their votive holders to fit the standard 2 oz size votives, the ones i got at walmart are bigger than the votive i made one time, and i always heard it needs to fit tight in the holder. the one i made from the 2 oz mold wasn't tight at bottom nor went all the way to the bottom of the holder because the top is a little bigger on the votive.
  20. Fern , i'm so glad you took time to "stop and smell the rose's" today. the little things in life are the best , sometimes the best things in life are free, you don't have to pay, earn or work for them... you just got to make memories to have them. they are pricless. every christmas the smell of oranges brings back the memory of my dad, no matter how hard times was back when i was a little girl , my dad would make sure us kids had a big fat orange.
  21. looks good but will the scent from the votives settle on the candies ? you got to give the customer, what they want. right now i'm making tarts all in the color mauve , 4 bags of tarts different scents but the color mauve LOL!
  22. thank you both. i did it like you two said. my scale is just a small one. so i put a large plastic drinking cup on it, then brought it back to zero and poured wax till the scale showed 8 ounces. after hearing me saying bad things about my scale tonight santa 's helper has put that on his list for mesanta wink
  23. How many ounces is 1/2 lb wax once it's melted ? i was going to make some mauve color tarts for a lady ( she says the scent don't matter) she still wants them mauve colored. but i din't want to do a whole lb of wax in each of the 4 scents she wants because they will be mauve, so i got this idea of just using like 1/2 lb for each scent and got this bright ideal of melting 2 lbs at once, which i don't normally do. now i realize i don't know how much to pour out into my pour pot to mix the fo & color into:cry2: i'm not good at all that math anyway, i usually melt 1 lb wax and add 1 1/2 ounces of fo. can anyone help me or am i'm going have to let my wax cool and start back over:rolleyes2 santa emba
  24. pretty wrap paper, but you got to untie one so we can see what goodies are inside:yay:
