  1. Ok, I fell for it. :embarasse I saw the thread title and thought, "Oh NO! What could anyone have to rant about when it comes to Candlescience?" You got me, Dave.
  2. Does anyone have a suggestion for a strong and straight mango that sticks in CP soap? TIA!
  3. I've seen articles and videos showing images printed on tissue paper being heat transferred onto paraffin candles. Wondering if anyone has tried it with palm or soy pillars?
  4. Have any of you tested Sweetcakes Coconut Fragrance in CP soap? The description says: A tropical treat -- coconut underscored with tart, juicy pineapple. NOTE: Will not discolor cold-process or melt-and-pour soap, as so very many coconut fragrances do. The will not discolor part intrigues me.
  5. I've ordered from oils, butters and lye from them and been pleased. Can't speak to FO's but got some very nice EO Blends.
  6. I hadn't really even noticed that checkbox until last week and thought I'd try it. It would have reduced my coconut milk by 3.5 oz. At the last minute I chickened out and went back to the way I always did it. Glad I did.
  7. I use Outright which is also online, I link all my business accounts, as well as Etsy and Paypal. It automatically categorizes and tracks income and expense transactions, and gives me reports on sales, customers, profit, and taxes. When it's tax time, I just print my Schedules C worksheet. Done. I love love love it. http://outright.com/learn-more/how-it-works/
  8. I did order one and like 8-GRAN-ONES said, some recipes you to let it set longer in the mold, and I used the mineral oil trick like Barbara suggested. I really love it. I just need another one.
  9. THANK you, Carrie! IMO, not much point in being around if you can't have fun!
  10. For those of you using the Soapmaker software, when entering your additives like FO'S into your recipes, do you check the box to adjust water?
  11. March was National Multiple Sclerosis Education and Awareness Month. I made this hand-stitched MS Awareness Bracelet. I wanted to make a stylish piece of jewelry for MSers, caregivers and family members that reflects the ever changing nature of MS. That's why I chose the AB crystals. The drop charm features the traditions MS colors of orange and black. I'm not a fan of orange and wrote what was intended to be a light-hearted blog post about MSers like me being stuck with it as an awareness color. (I learned that some people have no sense of humor about the color orange. :rolleyes2 Who knew?) If you have a sense of humor, you can read it here. What Do Feral Cats, Motorcycle Safety and MS Have in Common? Did I go too far?
  12. I only use 5% castor. I noticed adding avocado oil to my coconut milk recipe really helped with lather.
  13. So I made another loaf today, same recipe minus the Jasmine oil. Used real EO's and it soaped like a dream.
  14. Show off... j/k ...they are stunning, Scented!
  15. Yikes! Glad it didn't overflow! I haven't played with any alcohol (in soaping ) yet. Have been thinking about beer...
  16. So...today I had that first soaping experience where your jaw drops and you go "Woah!" I had to glop the mashed potato-like batter into the mold. So here's what was different in this recipe. I ordered my PKO from Essential Wholesale instead of Liberty Naturals. ( I noticed it was much harder than the PKO from Liberty. It didn't "scoop" our of the jar...I had to break off chunks. Is that usual from PKO to be hard like that? The other new thing was a Now Jasmine oil which is a actually a blend of synthetic and true essential oil. Any guesses as to the acceleration culprit?
  17. My oven is brand new, so apparently I just left it on too long. Thanks so much for the link! That really helped.
  18. So I did a facial soap, no scent, with carrot puree and thought I'd try CPOP. The top looks like it has a matte "fuzzy" finish. Can I assume I left the 170 over on for too long (1 hour) and that caused these tiny bubbles in the top? How can you tell when your soap has reached full gel? (If I'm going to gel, I normally wrap and don't peak so don't know if I would recognize it.)
  19. So I played with 4 themes; citrus, floral, woodsy and ocean, took 10 sniffies to them and from those, they settled on these three; Jasmine Patchouli (floral) Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Rosewood (Woodsy) And Lime, Litsea, Peppermint and Bergamot (Citrus?)
