  1. The more I read the regs, it appears that in FL if you want to sell anything other than "True Soap" in the Bath & Body category of hand crafts, you CAN'T work out of your kitchen.
  2. I think you may be right. The green tint is almost gone this morning.
  3. Anyone have any experience or opinions on the "Extra strong 1/4" thick high quality silicone liner good for hot or cold process?" Will the soap stick to it at first?
  4. So I made a 3lb batch of lavender patchouli EO's, no color added, wrapped it up and left it for 24 hours, and it appears I got a partial gel. But my question is...why is it green? Is it from the EO's? Recipe is light olive, coconut, palm, palm kernel, avocado and castor. And coconut milk. I also soaped at RT. Maybe I shouldn't have allowed it to gel?
  5. Thanks again for the compliments, everyone, and yes, it's as addictive as FO's.
  6. A cosmetic manufacturer permit is required for any person that manufactures or repackages cosmetics in Florida. The fee is $800 for two years plus a one-time pre-permit inspection fee of $150. So simply adding a fragrance to a cosmetic base manufactured by, let's say, WSP, is considered "repackaging and would require a permit. What is a “cosmetic”? A cosmetic is an article, with the exception of soap, that is: (a) intended to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled, or sprayed on; introduced into; or otherwise applied to the human body or any part thereof for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness or altering the appearance; or ( intended for use as a component of any such article. So my question is, are things like bath teas, bath bombs, bath salts that are not intended to be directly placed on the skin considered "cosmetics?"
  7. I agree. I just found it interesting. For "True Soap" it seems there's a difference between labeling regulations and best practices.
  8. Interesting: http://blog.mariegale.com/ingredient-labels-soap/#more-987
  9. You should try it! It's really an easy stitch. Here are a couple of helpful links. Video: http://youtu.be/oiB_PID3sC4 Written instructions http://www.domestic-divaonline.com/Site_1/make-woven-crystal-bracelet.html
  10. Thanks!!!! Like I said, the "vision" has been in my head for a long time. I was very pleased with the outcome! I'm working on a beaded bracelet for my DIL for Mother's Day. In the middle row of beads there are gold letter beads that will spell out the 3 grandkids names separated with an AB crystal. The outside rows will have Swarvski cystals in the colors of their birthstones and gold seed beads. And it will have a gold "Mom" charm having from the clasp.
  11. Candles, soap....and NOW...just what I needed, another addiction My newest addiction is making beaded jewelry. I took a couple of classes to learn some stitches. This set is my latest creation, inspired by a visit to Bora Bora where I saw the most gorgeous black and white pearl jewelry over 20 years ago. (It's been in my head ever since.) 12. Has anyone tried it? I have Peak Coconut Milk which I love, but would love to try to make a "natural" coconut milk soap. Also, does anyone know if the coconut scent from "virgin" coconut oil survive the process? TIA!
  13. Thanks Candybee! Does the straight lemon, and lime and lemongrass hold against the lye monster up by themselves, or do you anchor them with something like benzoin, patch...or maybe some clay?
  14. I landed a private label soap account today for a small boutique. They want a few (3-4) strong essential oil blends (No FO's) that conveys an "island" feel. I will probably do a lime and litsea blend, (doubt it will be very strong.) Besides citrus, anyone else have any ideas? TIA!
  15. Does anyone know if the differences between Lavender (Lavandula Officinalis) and Lavandin (Lavandula Hybrida) are detectable after the lye monster does it's thing in CP soap? From what I read, Lavender is sweeter, more floral, and subtle, while Lavandin has a more camphor and is longer lasting. I like the idea of longer lasting, but not the camphor. :undecided For those of you who have soaped with both, what's your preference?
  16. Wonder if this is new Crisco or old Crisco? Anyone know? PS Speedy healing wished to Barbara!
  17. I have no way of knowing how close I got in my EO blend, but it smells pretty good! I've been playing with it for a week! Top notes of Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Orange & Spearmint, middle notes of Juniper Berry, Lavender, Rosemary, anchored with a base note of Balsam Fir Needle and just a touch of LItsea Cubeba. Now what to call it? Religious Experience? Garden of Eden? Maybe I should wait to see how well it survives the lye monster. I also think I'm going to order some of the Sweetcakes Original Clairol Herbal Essence (type) FO to refresh my memory.
  18. I second all the sources ProudMarineMom listed, there are also some great Youtubers if you just search cold process soap, AND the knowledge/experienced shared on this forum as well!
  19. Has anyone tried it in CP? Or does anyone know of an Herbal Essence dupe or EO blend they'd recommend? I'm going to play around with some EO blends today with fir needle, rosemary, eucalyptus, spearmint and some citrus... All I remeber about that Clairol Herbal Essence shampoo was that the scent was close to a religious experience...
  20. Congress has now allowed the Post Office to default right before they leave for the August break. I use USPS on small shipments, it's more cost effective. Anyone else worried about this?
  21. I don't discount for festivals either. But I have some small freebies with my web addy on them that I give to to browsers so they engage in a conversation with me. Then I sell the quality.
  22. Does anyone know a company selling this type of half box, custom printed that I won't have to give up an arm, leg and first born son for? http://www.flickr.com/photos/pienovonios/7034691151/in/pool-soappackaging
