  1. One more question if I may. When adding glycerin to the NaOH portion, do you discount water the same amount?
  2. :embarasse Thank you SOOOOOOOO MUCH! (And yes...I DO over think some things...well everything.) :embarasse
  3. Yes, thank you TallTayl for sharing your knowledge and expertise! I read on B&B about saponifying the stearic acid separately with KOH but for the life of me I can't wrap my MS rattle brain around how to do that. I have soapmaker. Assume I want a 60:40 ratio. Would I create two separate recipes? One for the KOH portion and the other for the NaOH portion? If so, would I use the liquid or cream soap calculator for the KOH portion or the normal NaOH calculator? Then hot process both portions separately and when they finish cooking blend them together? (I hope my questions makes sense)
  4. Actually, looking at those boxes again, they're not deep enough. I need something at least 5x5 and 1.25 inches deep.
  5. JMHO, but perhaps she saw big lawyer fees coming in her future if she was going to fight to keep it...
  6. Thanks SuzyK, those would work, but...the plastic tops...my brand is pretty eco-concious...I'm conflicted. LOL
  7. I'm making 50 of these little guys..Swarovski Crystal Christmas Spiders for a big show on Nov 30. Last year I made smaller ones and put them in Christmas take out boxes. The "Legend" needs to fit in the packaging too. They're about 4 inches wide and won't fit in the take out boxes. I'm having a creativity block about how to package these little guys. They come in different colors too, so they either need to be visible in the packaging, or I hang them, and when someone picks one, I put it in the packaging then. They're kinda expensive to make so I need to keep the packaging costs down as much as possible. Any ideas oh fellow craft ones?
  8. The news was also posted on The Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild Facebook Page.
  9. IIRC, yes, I did add the 2 together and then made my solution. No SF and no water discount. Hope you have better luck than I did. I'm just too impatient, LOL. Keep us posted!
  10. I thought the high stearic property is for stable lather so it stays on the face. This foam has been on this brush for 15 minutes.
  11. After reading the Badger and Blade forum, I tried starting at 60 KOH and 40 NAOH. After 5 recipes, I still I ended up with a soft soap. Having said that, I didn't HP it either, so maybe that's where I went wrong. I gave up and just created a CP recipe with stearic at 20.
  12. IMO, if you're looking for a pine Christmas tree scent (not a fir Christmas tree scent) that doesn't smell like Pinesol, Moonworks Pinion rocks!
  13. I haven't put it in C-3 yet, but I just soaped it. All I have to say is... OH EM GEEE! Hat's off to Rhonda! I grew up in the Midwest where we had 30 ft pine trees, complete with pine cones that as a child I could create a fort under...and THIS FO took me RIGHT back to my childhood. It's not Pinesol-y at ALL. It's very authentic!
  14. I had done it once before. This time with LOTS more color than the 1st time. http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?109769-quot-Dirty-Hippie-Soap-quot
  15. I made a "Feed Your Face" soap with Hemp Milk. (I added other goodies as well; banana, mango, carrots.) I used full milk instead of water, just like how I make my coconut milk soap. I left it unscented. It's a VERY creamy soap.
  16. It IS? Wow...I wonder how much the formulation changed.
  17. One thing to keep in mind is that dogs will lick the lather, so if using EO's, be sure they won't be harmful if ingested. Tea tree and pennyroyal can be extremely toxic if ingested and should only used in soap for healthy medium-sized and larger dogs. Dogs with pre-existing medical conditions and smaller breeds of dogs may be more sensitive to products with tea tree and pennyroyal so I personally avoid them altogether. The other thing to remember is that their sense of smell is at least 10 times better than ours. Once you have your recipe formulation, you may want to run it's ingredients by a holistic vet.
  18. For my nose, the strongest vanilla (and I've tested a LOT) has been CS Very Vanilla. I have some pillars I made 3 years ago that I can still just walk by (unlit) and can still smell vanilla. It's a shame it's not soap safe.
  19. Thanks everyone! The orange, yellow and green are TKB neons, and the blue and pink neons are from NG.
  20. This time with MUCH more color. Like the last one, just a straight Patch. You may wanna put on sunglasses.
  21. I was cleaning out the storage room and ran across about 10 oz of Greenleaf's Maduro FO that I had transferred to an amber glass bottle ages ago. It's still strong! Does anyone remember if this oil was body safe? My gut tells me probably no, but it would be awesome if it was....
  22. Or anyone who sells to the guys market, for a shaving soap, which would you prefer; Bay Rum EO, Scent Works (Lebermuth) Bay Rum Scent Works Green Irish Tweed (Creed type) Sweetcakes Silver Mountain Water (Creed type) Sweetcakes Fleurissimo (Creed type) Sweetcakes Green Irish Tweed (Creed type) Or something else? Cuz I'm lost....
