  1. That looks pretty good and you have some nice mottling going on there. I'll bet that it smells really good too. I love coffee scents. Keep up the good work and keep posting. eta: pam is cooking spray - veggie oil based I like silicone spray better...it can be found in auto parts stores or in the auto parts section of walmart or k-mart here in the states. Either one will help though. I guess it's just a matter of preference. Rustics seem to me to be harder to get out than plain solids.
  2. Try the *daylight* flourescent bulbs from walmart - they come in a 2 pack. 100 watts were the strongest that I could find...actually uses about 23 watts. They don't get very hot at all. They come in a light blue package and have *daylight* written in the corner.
  3. Beautimus!!! and hopefully a great solution with the fuel jars..w.t.g. Pam and Stella. :smiley2:
  4. I really like both of these, very creative. :smiley2: Is the glacier made from high melt point wax, like a hurricane wax?
  5. Those are very pretty and I like the jars too.
  6. Cool - looks like a psychedelic tropical plant... Love the pearl!
  7. Those are beauts. The ones that look like lighthouses are my favs.
  8. Nice looking candles. The muffin looks pretty realistic. :smiley2:
  9. No doubt that Grumpy Girl is a really good photographer, but so are you. Your candles/lables and photo are all Very Nice!
  10. I use 3 with spigots that I installed as per instructions. Be sure that after you finish your pour and empty your pot, to use your heat gun to ensure that all of the wax is completely out of the spigot. Sometimes a little bit of wax can set inside and when you start the next pour you will have a little dab that can contaminate the next pour..
  11. Just looking at those blisters, they seem to me to be some variation of finger nailing. While they aren't identical to fingernails, I suspect that the two aren't unrelated.
  12. Click the green button on the left of the page "Techniques and Ideas" for a draped layer technique. 4625 has vybar in it which makes it less desirable for rustics. The best wax for rustics is a fully refined straight paraffin = a wax that doesn't have additives preblended in it like the 4625. IGIs' 1343 or Candlewics' 4045 are 2 of the most popular choices for making rustics.
  13. Hi Mike, If, you decide to double wick the 16 ounce apoth. (Like I *finally*did), I just want to let you know, that I have not regretted for one moment, my purchase of one of these: http://candlescience.com/equipment/ez-wick-setter-multi/
  14. Those are very pretty! Try adding about 3 tablespoons of stearic per pound at 185 degrees to mix and then pour around 150 degrees and see if you get the rustic frosting that you're looking for...:smiley2:
  15. Those are some neat little melties.. As far as packing goes, I might wait until the weather cools a bit before shipping them as samples with the jewelry or ship on mondays so that there is less chance of sitting in a hot warehouse or on a hot truck over the weekend. (so they won't become melted melties.. ) Sounds and looks like you're having fun with these.. Keep up the good work and keep posting. eta: That's a nice photo too!
  16. Hi Debbie, Last november Trish hosted a co-op for pillar sleeves. Here's the link. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37729&highlight=pillar+sleeves Here is the supplier link: http://www.packcoinc.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=27 I looked for the pillar sleeves on the website just now, but didn't find anything listed specifically as such. In a couple of more days you will become a full member with 30 days and you will be able to use the PM (personal message) feature. You can then pm Trish and she can likely answer your question much better than I. Trish is A-1 top of the line person and I'm sure that she will glady help to answer your question.
  17. This is a pretty good site for ideas. Someone here at candletech shared this with me about a year ago and for the life of me, I can't remember who it was.....anyway, the credit goes to her. Light box/tent that's not too difficult to make: http://www.pbase.com/wlhuber/light_box_light_tent Basics of photography: http://www.pbase.com/wlhuber/the_basics The author's galleries: http://www.pbase.com/wlhuber/root Hope some of this may help...
