  1. http://www.candleandsoapstuff.com/Suppliers_by_State.html This list isn't totally complete, but it might help. What state are you? Others here can recommend.
  2. When I was researching the therapeutic values of bath salts, I read that the Dead Sea salts and epsom salts have documented value. The Pacific, Caribbean, etc. value isn't documented except that many people like the affect on the bath water. There is a lot of material on the value of the Dead Sea salt out there.
  3. Maybe that's what I need. My last 2 trips to the gulf stream netted next to nothing! I always thought that the squid was so stinky and the fact that we usually bottom fish that they wouldn't pick up on any human smell. I wouldn't have thought that those fishes had ever smelled humans anyway? Who knew?
  4. Thanks for clearing that point for me. I wasn't sure. I made a few and have burned 2 of them. Each with different types of crusts. Both burned completely--gel and embeds--without melting a bit of the crust. I wasn't sure if this was how it was sposed to work!
  5. That's pretty much how I do mine. The one thing that I really have problems with are lattice-type crusts. I find those hard to properly place wicks with. That's why I'm thinking of trying 3 wicks with those. I previously thought that 3 would be too much. I'm going to give that a try if I have some 51z wicks around here. Thanks!
  6. I was previously satisfied with wicking for a 5 in pie, but now that I got some suggestions of other options I want to try those. I did a search on this topic for wicking suggestions for the 3 in pies. I just got some supplies for these and made a few with the 104 wicks. They burned ok, but the crust never melted. Is the crust supposed to melt? You folks that make the 3 inch pies--how are you wicking them? I love these littles pies.
  7. Interesting. I've used 2 wicks before in a 5 in but never 3. Will give that a try.
  8. Could you post a website addy? I would like to take a look.
  9. Thanks. I had a feeling that was what I should be doing but wasn't sure! This helps a lot--especially with my 16 oz apoth jar fight!
  10. Question about your suggestion--how do you insert the wick when cooled to test? I have sooo many badly wicked candles and need to know this!
  11. I have also drooled over these the past couple of days. I would love to buy some from you! Will you sell??
  12. I read, read, and read more. Haven't seen this question yet. For the very thick creams, whipped body butter, scrubs, etc. that are packaged in jars, what kind of jars are best? When looking at the suppliers' websites, there are so many to choose. What I'm really confused about are the double-walled jars. Is this just an extra luxury, or are there some products that really NEED to be in double-walled jars? I get confused over whether some things are simply a personal preference for looks, or if there is a serious reason to use particular containers. I am amazed after pricing some of the containers and wonder how much of the cost of some of my more high-dollar cosmetic purchases are just for the container. The "anti-aging" products are much more elegantly packaged than anything else. I feel that this is because women in my age group (mid 50's) are more apt to spend more on the "fountain of youth." At any rate, could someone please tell me about the double-walled jars? Didn't mean to ramble so.
  13. I have read through each post in this thread several times and want to make this!! However, for the oil, could I use a combo of sweet almond and grapeseed oil? Or should I just stick to one of these? Those are the only 2 oils I have on hand right now.
  14. I am so glad to read this thread. I just got some Peaks' AH from the classies here and love it oob. Was wondering what the fave application is for it. I have cb135, j223, and 6006. Does anyone have a wick suggestion for this scent in these waxes in a 16 oz apoth jar?
  15. What size is that banner you have? He has a lot of options to choose from!
  16. I think your packaging is perfect! I wouldn't be able to resist!
  17. See post #2 above. She is also a member of this board. If you are looking for something on her site that you don't see, email her. She also has some sales listed on ebay.
  18. I'm leaning in that same direction. I've also got 31 yrs of teaching high school and college level, and it drives me nuts to see this kind of copy. One of my courses was keyboarding and another was business document writing. I finally had to leave the profession when I was forced to pass anyone and everyone. No standards. Just a pulse!
  19. I use the medium density gel. I color it a bit depending on what "type" of pie I'm doing--i.e. red for cherry and strawberry. Then, of course, scent appropriately with a gel SAFE scent. The first couple I made I got the gel from Michael's. Later I started ordering larger quantities through suppliers. I don't make embeds. I buy them. I don't know why you can't access the classies. Someone else will have to help with that.
  20. I began by buying the tins on ebay, and I have also bought from the classies here. I was told a while back that I should be able to get them at Walmart or the Dollar General, but none of those here carried them. I did find them at a kitchenware dealer who has a permanent setup at the flea market. However, that is too close to Myrtle Bch, and I don't like to go into the main area during tourist season. If you have a restaurant supply nearby, you might find them there. You might want to put an ISO ad in the classies here. As far as embeds, I buy mine from Laura at www.tropicalbreezecandles.com because she does a wonderful job. Also, I absolutely do not have room for any more waxes, molds, etc. here!
  21. When I order from RE I blink and it's here!
  22. lol. I have enough ugly ass soap to bathe in to last me forever!! I also have a ton of really crappily wicked candles that I use on the warmer. Even though I smoke, my non-smoking friends say they no longer smell it here! I've also spent thousands of $$ on stuff, and you can't even move around here without stepping over boxes and bags. No cooking food in the kitchen, either. It's all take out and delivery!! Get used to it.
  23. I started with stuff from Michaels. Got bored and unhappy with it pretty fast. Then I went the ebay route. Got some good stuff and info, but also a lot of crap and crappy info. I have learned a whole lot from spending a lot of hours on this forum reading, reading, reading. I hope that I'm now making better decisions! This place is a gold mine of info from EXPERIENCED and conscientous people.
  24. You will LOVE everything you get from her!
  25. Have any of you tried this base? If so, how did you like it?
