I've been making candles on and off for over 6 years and just starting to get into making soy candles. I would like to eventually get into making B&B items as well.

  1. I did, I wanted it to be all 1 piece. And yeah I thought of temp. as well. Same train of thought lol, told myself if it can hold boiling water, it will work I haven't made any other's yet, this one was just a trial. If I do commit to the different patterns with the cup and saucer I'll post some pics so y'all can see!
  2. Had the day off yesterday and decided to go on a thrift store marathon. I ended up with a few new pouring pitchers, muffin pans to take a whack at making cupcake candles, a few electric candle warmers if you can belief that, and a few other oddities including teacups and saucers. I made one yesterday and it turned out beautiful. I used EA's Caribbean Escape. I'm thinking about mixing up the saucer patterns with the teacup patterns for an ultra "shabby chic-ish" look lol.
  3. I live near Early American and actually spoke with John right before he made this useful YouTube video on how to test out wicks. I was in there looking for a new wick to try out on some 3" jars I had with soy wax. Being new to soy, I'm glad I met him! He was able to hold my hand through the whole para-to-soy transition lol Here's a clever way to test out new wicks, and keep track of your discoveries http://youtu.be/esnBcoafKNQ
  4. Little late in reply, but I LOVE C3. Excellent scent through if you are looking for it. I used Early American's Caribbean Escape scent 1oz to a half-3/4lb C3 and the scent filled a floor of my house. I'm all about the smells though as a hobbyist. I did dab in less than a tsp of Vybar also. No oil spots at all. Only complaint, is the glass adhesion. There were parts of the container where the wax did not adhere well. I think it may have had something to do with with either the Vybar or my pour temp.
  5. Both 12oz jars, to prove consistency lol... I plan on trying a larger jar, around 16oz to see what happens. Bummer...I was actually hoping for a slight woodsy smell
  6. I'm glad I searched for Wood Wicks before starting my own thread Newbie forum person here, but have been making candles on and off (as a hobby) for over 6 years. I just picked up a pack of medium wood wicks the other day just to give them a shot. I poured the candles for them this morning. I'm excited to start testing them out! Here's one of 2 I'm going to test out. Does anyone know if there is much wood burning smell from the wick itself?
