  1. Very nice looking hurricane and the picture is great. Do you stick the napkin onto the outside of the hurricane and then overdip with wax? A few months ago I had a plain pillar and some very pretty napkins(serviettes) and painted the candle with Modge Podge and then tried to stick the napkin on. What a mess:tongue2: . The napkin wrinkled everywhere and for the life of me I could not get it to go around the candle evenly and it was a disaster. So just wondering how you do this if you do not mind sharing. thanks:smiley2:
  2. Just want to clarify - I did not make these candles, see www.illuminations.com and oh how I WISH I had these candle holders!
  3. Very nice candle and the label is very cute. Love the extra touch with the pinecones.
  4. Very beautiful candle and like the shimmer effect very much. Is the mould silicone?
  5. Very good looking candle there. Nice and smooth and the colour goes perfectly with the scent. Well done.
  6. Totall agree with julwid above, wish I could find the time to try all these projects - a little less time spent reading the posts on this board might be a start - lol. Thanks for sharing how you made these and I think they are really beautiful.
  7. Love the candle, very pretty and different. Just a thought though, have you ever tried them with a sprinkling of wax "chocolate" shavings on top on the marshmallows? Although I guess when it started to melt, the choc colour would ruin the white foam - just rambling now. I also like your idea of the recipes, cards, that you include with your candles. Must take a lot of work, but I as you say customers come back to see what you are doing next and keeps them interested.:smiley2:
  8. Very nice job on those candles, and for a good cause too. Like the printed message around the bottom of the candle.
  9. Not sure if I am allowed to post pics here from commercial websites, but just wanted to share pics of these stunning reindeer candle holders. The round candles on the right look embossed on the surface (on the left is a xmas ornament), and was wondering if anyone had embossed the outside of a candle before? As these are factory produced, maybe the moulds have this design on the inside?
  10. I use wick pins and use pre-tabbed primed wicks, do you thread through an unprimed wick? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I have been thinking of wicking my moulds before I pour with either flat braid or square braid, but then I would have a lot of wick pins just lying around.
  11. Would you mind sharing how you would make tarts with cookie cutters. Do you pour a reallly thick layer of scented wax onto a cookie sheet/tray and then just cut out the shapes?
  12. Thanks for all your replies. I am waiting for a Peak´s order and I ordered Honey/Vanilla liquid dye so will try that. Gonna try the other suggestions too, now I just have to drag myself away from this forum and go and experiment!!l
  13. Feel a bit embarrassed asking this but I was wondering how do you get a nice rich cream colour for paraffin wax. I want to make some heart pillars and our local florist has a lot of cream in at the moment. My DH suggested a teeny tiny touch of brown (have yet to try this), but would appreciate hearing your suggestions. Thanks.
  14. Congratulations Natasha on the great site. As others mentioned above very classy and easy to use. Love your products, such a wonderful choice and the photography is great. Well done! Sarah
  15. Hi all, I am wondering if there is a scientific explanation for why a flame flickers so much when it is burning inside the shell of a candle. I am absolutely sure that there is no draft, because I have another candle burning next to this one and the flame is not flickering. I am testing LX wicks and even though I like the larger sizes they create a huge flame which freaks me out. I am burning an LX18 in a 3" diameter candle and it has left a shell, and now that the flame is inside the shell it is flickering all the time. Sorry for the long question.
  16. Really love this effect and the scent suites them perfectly. I hope you manage to duplicate this technique as it would be geat to see these in different colours.
  17. Here is a good link, go down the page a bit and there is an answer to your question. http://www.candlecauldron.com/burningquestion.html
  18. Hi Marika. Very lovely decorations and catchy warning. Like this idea very much, just another thing to go into my book of "to try someday":rolleyes2 Sorry, this is a silly question - are these actually scented Gingerbread and where did you get the scent from. I ask because I have been trying to get a good Gingerbread scent - I scented a candle "Gingerbread Cookies" the other day and had to throw the whole lot away because it just turned my stomach.UGH!
  19. Lovely basket and I think your cupcakes look great. Make sure nobody eats them!
  20. Those are gorgeous, lovely colours and the rustic effect is very good. They must smell awesome.
  21. Hi Sara, yes I trim the wicks before relighting them. Last night after relighting one, I just left it and the flame seemed to settle down after a while.
  22. I would like to know how long is it necessary to wait between test burns. I usually test burn my pillars for 3 to 4 hours and then wait maybe two hours before relighting. Is this long enough, or can I relight once the melt pool has hardened? I also notice that once I have relit the candle within 15 minutes I have to blow out the flame, trim and relight because the flame is large. Should I maybe leave it and see if it settles down once the melt pool has widened a bit?
  23. That looks like a good burn. I would be interested to know what it looks like after a few more burns. Please post pics. Thanks.
  24. Hi Carrie, I see this a lot about hugging a candle, but before I joined this board never even knew of this technique. I don´t expect many customers know about it or quite frankly want to be bothered with hugging a candle, so I am just asking if it is not better to leave a candle alone and see how it burns without the hugging technique. Would like to know your thoughts on the matter.
  25. All your candles look great. I especially like the jar candles - the colours are fantastic, they look like jewels.
