  1. Your display looks awesome! I couldn't help but noticed the banner in the front and the way it was tied. Did you find it was too low for the customers to take a peek or getting caught on the lines? We hang our sign behind us and still get a good visual from the distance. Just my 2 cents. Love your jars!
  2. I've signed up for four Christmas shows this year and am trying to get a general idea how much to stock up. I live in a city of over 120,000 people. One of the shows had over 11,000 customers over 2 days last year. The other three are in smaller community halls. Basically I have votives 8 oz mason jars tarts tealights room sprays grubby cans (this involves alot of work) I can't even begin to tell you how many fragrances I have on hand but I'm trying to eliminate them down to about 5-6 scents for each category (Xmas,Bakery,Floral,Woods/Nature & Aroma) Although candles are my main feature I also have handcrafted items which will be added as well but those I'm not too worried about. How much do you normally stock and what would you recommend? This would help me greatly for my next order of supplies. :0)
  3. You guys honestly think they will hit their $10 million sales target in the first year? That's whopping alot of candles. I bet there's one called Candle in the Wind! At least they're donating part of the sales to charities so that's good.
  4. They're one of my main suppliers for oils if not the main. Their oils are awesome and throw great in soy. My topsellers are: Creme Brulee Sage & Citrus Nag Champa Pink Sugar (amazing cold throw!) Warm Vanilla Sugar Soothing Lavender Fresh Cut Roses (many rave reviews about this one) Gardenia Monkey Farts Love Spell I could go on but this is just to give you a start. Loren is excellent to deal with. He's been steadily adding more new scents which I'm trying right now and so far it's been good! Good luck!
  5. Thanks for all tips! I pretty much had it figured out using Word and going through Column feature. Aside from trying to figure out the spacing for each column, it turned out fine. It took me awhile but the text box feature Lori, that sounds alot more simple and quicker than fighting with the indent spacing for each column (the words kept disappearing if I type too far to the next column so I had to keep adjusting the indent back and forth. Also it wouldn't center properly when I hit the center button so I had to do that manually. I'm going to try the text box next time. It sounds like it would save alot of headaches! Shannon
  6. You know what I DO have Microsoft Works,LOL! My computer is fairly new and I'm still trying to figure out the new programs on it. I don't even know what all we have,oh the things I learn everyday! Thanks a bunch you guys, I really appreciate it.
  7. I'm working on Microsoft Word and I know there must be a way to do the three fold pamplet layout but I can't find it! Can any of you shed some light on this and point me in the right direction? Geez I feel like a dummy right now.:embarasse Shannon
  8. How about 'Appeeling Banana' or 'Banana Cabana' or 'Sunny Johnny' Come on you guys, I'm sure you can do better!!
  9. Sorry Jenny, I jumped the gun when I saw the first post. I will check out the newest thread. These late nights are killing me......snoring. Didn't mean to add fuel to this heated debate, LOL!! By the way you must not have drank that pot of coffee like I told you, OMG quit hanging around here and get in that hospital, LOL!! Shannon
  10. I too would love to find out as well. I've done extensive research on the webhosting sites but am leary to commit to any of them for fear of choosing the 'wrong one'. I too have a domain with godaddy and I did purchased their 'website tonight program' designed to have your 'website up and running by tonight'......well it's been over 150 nights and I only got the home page done! So what does that tell ya? Either I'm a complete idiot or their program is just too complicated. Even my brother tried to help me with very little success (he's the one the did the home page, lol) and he's actually a computer whiz! I'm not trying to 'bash' Godaddy but I find it's not working for me and it's been frustrating not getting my website up and running while I'm paying every month. They do have a 24 hour customer service and I have emailed them and gotten replies but it's still too complicated for me. So far I've looked at DIY stores,Create a Shoppe,EZ Shoppes, U Maintain-It and WAHM Shoppes. I've emailed one of them about their service 3 days ago and have yet to receive a reply. Do any of you have webhosting with any of these services especially the last 4? I know alot about DIY but would like to know about the others before I make a decision. Shannon
  11. I voted 1 A and straight fonts for two reasons. The 1 A is simple and not too cluttered and the straight font keeps it separated from your logo especially for scents. Try to visualize what the customer will be looking at. I feel if all the fonts are the same they would get confused as to what is the scent name and what is the company logo, my 2 cents! Beautiful elegant label by the way! Shannon
  12. You guys are probably going to kick my butt here because I know there are some threads regarding where are the best places to buy salts from but I'm going ask anyway! It's midnight now, I'm tired,I did a quick search on bath salts, didn't find what I'm looking for yet so I'm doing it the easy way,LOL! Here goes: WHERE are the best places to buy wholesale salts? I'm trying to find epsom & dead sea salts. I'm very new at this bath salt making so I'm trying to keep my costs down. Thanks for any advice! Shannon:confused:
  13. I don't get it.I just checked their website and now they're offering everything from DVD's to patio furnitures. What does this have to do with 'fragrance soy candles'?? Their link is 'sweetcupcakecandles.com', shouldn't they focus on candles and candle related products? Beats me. Shannon:confused:
  14. We (my DH & I) usually have a votive for each scent lined up in the front of the table display with a scent label so the customers can smell them. That way they not taking votives out of their display boxes and marking them up when they put them back. We would pick out the scents they want and individually wrap them and bag them (with practice you can be very fast, lol!). I always throw in my business card, info sheet about my products and an event flyer if I have one. Always have a price sheet for all your products in a visible spot . I think it's also important to invest in a big business sign so people can see from the distance and come to your booth. My DH made a 6ft wooden sign out of a thin plywood, stained it,stencilled the lettering on and finished it off with a trim. It looks beautiful and very light too. Like they say "if you build it they will come" LOL!! What a great thread, I learned quite a few new things too! Shannon
  15. THANKS for the reviews! I've been waiting for someone to get the oils and post some comments. I don't get my order til this week sometime so you can tell I'm alittle anxious,LOL!! Shannon
  16. Here's mine. It's been under construction for months now because I can't figure out my crappy 'easy set up'. So far I just have the Main Page. I'm seriously considering switching hosting site. I'm also stuck with the free ad above my graphic, god I hate that! Everyone's sites look great! Shannon
  17. Oh my gosh! I'm in the exact same boat! I got my domain through Go Daddy, purchased their so called 'easy setup website' and it's been sitting ducks for MONTHS because I can't figure out the darn thing!! So far I've managed to get the home page done, LOL!! I haven't switched to any other DIY websites because I thought you would have to pay a fee for leaving. Now I'm willing to do just that to get my website up and running! Let me know how it turned out for you! Yeah I'll GO alright DADDY!! Shannon
  18. I've been using Eco Soy CB Advanced as well as Eco Soy PB for about a year. I find that out of all the fragrance oils I bought, I had maybe 2 or 3 that were weaker than others. I only added alittle more the next time to solve the problem. I get my oils from Bittercreek and The Candle Source. I find the soy wax really hold their oils. They certainly do make beautiful candles! I just received a large order of small mason jars and I can't wait to try them out! Shannon
  19. Hi, I have a yard of unprimed HTP 73 that I've bought awhile ago but never used it as I usually order the pretabbed wicks. Due to an oversight on my stock supply I've run out of the pretabbed wicks and am waiting for the new order. While I'm waiting I thought I'd try priming the wick to continue on with my candle making. My question is what wax do you prime it with or does it matter? I will be using them for soy candles if that helps any. Thanks for any info! Shannon:confused:
  20. Anyone received the new scents yet? I'm just dying to know what they're like while I'm waiting for mine. I'm from Canada so my waiting game is longer than most of you. Ok I admit..... I'm truly an addict, hee hee!! Shannon:D
  21. I just placed a huge order too! I just love Loren's oils!! These I haven't tried yet but ordered: Black Magic The Great Pumpkin Candy Corn Butter Cream Christmas Rumball Cinnamon & Sandlewood Relaxation Bedford Falls Cinnamon Rolls with Vanilla Icing And of course my all time favorites which I can't keep well stocked!: Cream Brulee Sage & Citrus Pomegrante Warm Vanilla Sugar Pink Sugar Clove I also order the room/spray base after I decided from another post. Whoever gets the new fragrances first, PLEASE let us know what they're like!! I'm dying to know! Ok I'm think I'm turning into an addict Shannon
  22. All his new fragrances are in today! I'm placing my order right away. Just though I'd let you guys know! Shannon:yay:
  23. Has anyone tried the body/room spray base from The Candle Source? I'm thinking about ordering some. Shannon
  24. From what I noticed during the past shows, some people take MUCH longer than others while trying to decide on a scent that they like when there are too many choices. They go back and forth along the table sniffing the candles only to buy one votive!I've lost potential customers who were standing behind them waiting and then walked away. I've had over 25 -30 scents and now I'm considering narrowing them down to make it simpler for the customers. I like the idea of categorizing them by bakery, spicey, floral, etc. Yes it can be overwhelming especially at Christmas. People are going to crowd around your booth so you want to make it quick for them when deciding on scents and purchasing. I would make a list of all of the fragrances that you carry should they ask about them. I guess it all comes down to how spacious your booth is going to be to allow that many scents and people going through. My 2 cents. Shannon
