  1. This may be an off the wall question but I am testing new waxes since the J300 has been discontinued. I really am about out of my mind in doing so :rolleyes2 I know that the melt pool is what provides the hot throw but do certain wicks give a certain "kick" to the throw also? I can achieve a full melt pool with about any wick choice, but have you found that a certain wick will increase the scent throw? I have used zinc, cotton, CD, & LX and am mainly testing 50/50 soy blends and haven't found anything yet that I am liking. Thought maybe my wick choice could be the culprit. So slap me if this is a dumb question
  2. I'll try your suggestions and let you know how this journey thru "soy world" goes for me. Thanks!
  3. I received and poured my 464 yesterday and YES my tops look the same as yours only it was when it set up, I haven't popped any wicks in yet to burn it. This is my first attempt at soy and I think I failed miserably pouring it. I heated to 175 added 8% Christmas Cheer from BCN with a combo of red and brown liquid dyes. Poured at 150 and at first I thought I had a great looking candle. But once completely cooled I have the rough, frosted top with frost happening on the sides. I tried hitting with a heat gun a couple times and the lumpy, rough, frosty top and sides come back Cold throw smells great but it looks very bad to me.
  4. Oh please do share I am working on my first wholesale account and really really need some guidelines :undecided
  5. BCN is Bitter Creek North www.candlesuppy.com. I just checked their site and Cool Water doesn't show up unless you go to the shopping cart section then it is there. Guess I didn't notice that before but BCN does have it.
  6. BCN has Cool Water (Type) as well as Southern Scentsations. I just finished testing both and they were very comparable in throw. I have just ordered a sample of Eucalyptus from Keystone but haven't gotten it yet. I haven't added either to my line yet, since I am in the testing phases. Don't know if the Eucalyptus will move well, but I have had a couple requests. HTH
  7. I have bought my 12 oz frosted metro jars from FancyCandleJars.com and they have held up nicely (don't seem to thin). The quality is good and the price isn't bad either. I am quite certain he has both the clear and frosted to choose from. Customer service is great too.
  8. IMPRESSIVE !!! Your statistics remind me of my "past" career :lipsrseal and very helpful in current one
  9. I am finding the same issues with the last few cases of J300 :undecided In addition to the changes you stated I am also finding that it is throwing black soot when burning Edited to add - hot throw has changed too!
  10. J300 once completely cooled will pull away from the sidewalls of the container. And fits the description of Blend 1 above.
  11. I also use J300 and I don't need a repour. I pour into the wide mouth pint and half pints and once cooled the wax starts to "crawl" up the wick the kind crack away (if the makes sense), but no dip. I hit them quick with my heat gun and it takes care of the problem. About J300 being discontinued . . .I have been researching this issue since I LOVE this wax. From what I have gathered so far it seems that the IGI 6006 is supposed to be the replacement (???) A couple of suppliers have told me (per IGI) it is the same wax formulation and since IGI bought out Astorlite they won't be making both. I haven't tested the 6006 yet in a side by side. But will be soon! I am hoping they are the same since testing is tedious for me. Sorry sawdustcottage to get off topic and hijack your thread . . .
  12. Oooh - I got so excited when I seen this post - I have been eye balling the WixWax 50/50 for awhile now since I order frequently from AWE. I used to use the paraffin blend WixWax for quite awhile but I switched to a soy blend before they had the 50/50 available. I am going to keep an eye on this post - and yes I will grab a slab to test when I place my next order. I'll keep you posted . . .
  13. OH poodydoo !!! I ordered yesterday . . .Go figure . . .
  14. Michi - Yes I have got some great ideas on how to label or shall I say "not label" these jars A heartfelt THANKS to everyone who has replied I got my jars from FancyCandleJars.com. They too only offer the 8 oz and the 12 oz size. The 12 oz only holds about 9 oz of wax in order to be able to get the lid on. I didn't get the 8 oz size but am thinking maybe it would only hold about 6 oz of wax? Maybe someone else can chime in and say for sure. I am thinking it may be worth getting a couple samples to test. I am pleased with their prices, quality, and customer service. It may be worth a try for ya.
  15. That is a wonderful idea . . where did you find a place to professionally print on the ribbon? and how would you affix it to the jar? Sorry if it is a dumb question.
  16. I feel much better now knowing that I am not alone in thinking how nice these jars look without any outside labels, and that you also agree. I was torn between picking the frosted and the clear. Chose the frosted since they are unique to my area. I can only imagine how pretty the clear ones would be. And yes, THEY ARE EASY TO WICK
  17. I have considered that . . I have on hand the 2.5" round in white and kraft. I could play around to see if I can come up with something appealing. I just don't know . . .even the lid is pretty I was thinking that maybe a clear label on the lid might work but I don't want to buy them if they detract from the jar. (Call me cheap )
  18. This is a picture of the jar before pouring . . . It was quicker than getting my camera out. The empty jar doesn't do much justice to the beauty after poured but gives you an idea as to what I am talking about. I think some suppliers call them status jars too.
  19. I am currently testing the frosted metro jars and I LOVE the looks of this jar My dilema is they are so pretty without any labels on them and I am at a loss as to whether or not to label at all. I don't much care for hang tags so I would rather not go that route. Would it be against the norm to just have my product info on the bottom warning label and leave them plain? I have played around with colored string and charms and they really look pretty but is time consuming. I guess my concern would be my company info isn't in clear view for re-orders. Any suggestions?
  20. Your chart would be so handy In the meantime I have found this link in my favorites http://www.rusticescentuals.com/wickchart.html#top Brenda
  21. The high temp didn't quite work quick enough for me (I'm a tad impatient ) anyway the pipettes worked great! I ladeled out most of the wax then sucked up the water. Back to pouring
  22. I put a warning label on them letting everyone know to hang the bears to scent a small area - in cars, gym lockers, closests, etc. Also state that they are not a toy and to be kept out of reach from children and pets. After squirking them with oil I let them dry a bit before packaging. I sell them along side my sachets.
  23. Please don't spare us . . I am taking notes! I love all these ideas !! Keep 'em coming . . .
  24. Yep - It's already kinda exploded once Freaked my DH out - It was funny I'll try the high temp method if it doesn't work then I will be dipping it out . .
  25. I know I have seen a thread on this but I guess I am not good at "search" words 'cause I came up with nothing :embarasse I have a presto pot full of melted wax and water bubbles popping at me - What is the best way to get rid of it or do I go ahead and use the wax until I get to the bottom of the pot to remove the water?
