  1. Yep - it has a spigot. It is a Masterbuilt brand. I have been pricing them for sometime and jumped on the Ebay auction band wagon - BUT Tony's deal is much better than mine Way to go Tony - Hope Dad doesn't need it at Thanksgiving
  2. I am glad you pointed this out . . .We built a new home 2 years ago and sometimes I still have a hard time trying to find the right location to burn testers due to air flow and the layout of our home. In our other house testing was not as complicated. In this house I can burn a tester and get nothing. Take it to work to get rid of it and it throws like crazy.
  3. This supplier is absolutely awesome !!! I have been a regular with them for about 3 years. Customer service is top notch! Quick shipping! AND fabulous fragrance oils. They test in soy and rate each scent on their scent page and the ratings are very accurate. (No I don't work for them ) These are what scents I use from them: Banana Nut Bread Coconut Lime Verbena Christmas Past Drakkar Hazelnut Cappuccino Lemon Pound Cake White Spring Lilac Love Spell Mango Papaya Pearberry Pink Sugar Sweet Chestnuts Vanilla Lace Winter Hug
  4. I just got mine too :yay: and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Found mine on ebay . . .You all really MUST do a search there! $25.01 - turkey fryer $14.95 - shipping $39.96 - PRICELESS
  5. My local Walmarts are discontinuing the fabrics for sure. I don't know if the entire craft department is going yet or not. My DIL is works for Walmart mangement I will have to get the scoop from her. I hope the don't discontinue the glass line.
  6. What is Tri-State's web addy? Blessings ~ Brenda
  7. Grandma can you guide me on what size LX wick to use for a 3" diameter jar using a 50/50 blend? I am currently testing LX and CD's against my notorious zincs. So far I am finding that LX wicks are way off on the recommended sizes. I am about ready to give up on them :undecided I would be forever grateful ~ Brenda
  8. I have found that pouring cool is the best for my workshop environment, so I pour around 130*. Pouring any higher my candles cool to quickly and will crack since I don't cover them while they set up. Also, pouring hotter than 130* I was still getting frost. HTH ~ Brenda
  9. This could be the culprit - I am a wick dipper too! I didn't think of this. I typically dip all my wicks but don't usually make triple wicked candles without color so I have not noticed it before. Thanks for your insight.
  10. Hmmmm - I usually use a lighter and didn't know this would cause wax to blacken it has never done it to me before. All I can say is this is
  11. Thanks for replying Holly . . . I used 8% fo and there is no soot on the side walls of the pail. I have LX and CD wicks here I can try to see if that helps with the problem but I'm not so familiar with those as far as sizes to use for triple wicking. Oh mercy - another dilema for a cute pail Edited: Forgot to mention I am blending my own 50/50. J50 & 464
  12. Hello all I know I read a post about blackened wax or soot in wax before but after searching for almost an hour I have given up trying to find the right search words. So I am hoping someone can help me with this. I am testing a metal pail similar to those found at Walmart with the exception these are painted. I am using a 50/50 blend, triple wicking with 44-24-18z & no color. The melt pool is black once it reaches a FMP but not apparant once it has re-set up. My question is do I need to modge podge the inside before pouring or should I try smaller wicks even tho the MP and wick size looks and burns good? The fragrance oil is White Lilac from SS and I have not ever had this happen before. I'd like to use these for spring shows coming up if I can figure this out. Any suggestions?
  13. I am so glad to see this post - I have been testing 16 oz apothecaries and experience the same situation 1/2 way thru the candle. Great burn & hot throw for the first half of the candle then weak, wimpy flames until it drowns out at the bottom 1/2. I have been making candles for over 5 years and still have not successfully tackled double wicking. My last failed test was 2 - 51z's. I never considered wicking down but after reading this post I am going to try it. At this point I have nothing to lose. (Sorry if I hijaked the thread)
  14. Sorry about the delay in replying - I was out of town all day yesterday. I have currently gotten my 50/50 blend to satisfaction using zinc wicks. The cold and hot throw is wonderful curing 48 hours - better if I am patient. I will be working on testing upping my soy to either 70/30 or 75/25 since soy is cheaper than paraffin AND I can drive to pick up soy rather than having it shipped. My biggest battle was finding the correct pouring temp to eliminate the frosting. I am getting nice smooth tops and a clean burn (typically) using 8% fo load. I am hoping to experiment more soon with higher %'s of soy. BTW - I am using J50 / 464.
  15. I just placed my first order with Alabaster today so I am glad to see this post. I got a few 1 oz samples to try, mainly VS dupes but also the Vanilla Grapefruit and Birthday Cake. I wish I knew they would send free samples :undecided I ordered 7 to test for quality before ordering larger quantites. Oh well, I still can't wait to get them
  16. If your fragrance oil is known to throw in soy then it will typically throw the same if not better in paraffin or a parasoy blend IMHO.
  17. My current favorite is Dream Weaver from BCN Best seller is Butt Naked from AWE
  18. For online newsletters. Sorry I didn't make myself quite clear in the first post.
  19. Can anyone recommend a good free newsletter template website? I have been seaching but thought I check here for ones you all have had good luck with. TIA ~
  20. How funny you may ask this . . . I just unpacked an order from them where as I had asked to get samples of the thick soy lotion before committing to buying a gallon. They sent me samples of the THICK soy lotion, a regular soy lotion as well as goat milk lotion. Me and my DIL were applying all three and all were great! Now I'm not sure which I want to further test in larger quantities :undecided I also got a whole gallon of their body mist. I will be testing that out yet today.
  21. www.atwixend.com Awesome oils & customer service
  22. I have tested a few of their oils and they have done well. I have a couple more to get into wax. Their "HIS Essence" is awesome. One of my favorites. I also tested Cappuccino Brulee it was very good but not what I was looking for. One I can't wait to test is Vovito Red Current. OOB it is very good. I have heard good reviews on their Black Raspberry Vanilla also.
  23. I have been to the Libbey outlet in Toledo and was very disappointed in the price of their glassware. They do run deeper discounts on holiday style containers but for the consistent glassware it was cheaper for me to have it shipped from a supplier. It was a couple of years ago that I went there and haven't been back since. I believe they have a toll free number you can call before making a trip. HTH
