  1. wow so i have been doing it wrong all this time......LOL ah well thats why i read this board!!!! lol
  2. okay guys super confused... I always put my wick pin inside the mold! so what your saying is you stick the pin thru the hole on the outside of the mold? then what do you do put the putty stuff around the wickpin/hole so the wax doesn't leak out? wierd! i honestly thought that you do the same as the votive wick pins and stick them inside. lol
  3. I just bought a new case of the igi 1246 pillar snowflake wax. I poured up some pillars last night for my mom and i noticed that while the molds were still hot to the touch the wax was pulling away from the molds already:sad2: I have actually never poured a pillar that pulled away from the sides of the molds like these and my last batch of this wax didn't do it either. Do you think it could be the weather? It just got cold up here and i didn't warm my molds first.....So i have my repours to do today and its just weird to have to repour them when they have separated from the mold already!!! I know this is gonna get messy.... Also i used a bit more stearic than i usually do with this wax because she wants them for the weekend and this wax tends to bleed a bit so i didn't want to have to mess with that! the stearic wouldn't make it pull away would it? thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. i bought one of those soapstone warmers a couple of years ago at target and it is actually for oils w/the instructions not to light for more than 20 minutes ect... mine is big enough that i can burn tarts in it with no problem and that is what i use it for. so i am willing to bet you could use your oils but of course they need to be cut w/something like dpg so they don't catch fire!
  5. have you tried just regular zinc? i know that they say htp is the best for this wax but i tested (very little testing though) regular zincs in jj's and they worked good for me! i really didn't like the texture of this wax so didn't to to much more testing. i actually just used it for wickless candles:grin2:
  6. hi sorry it took so long to reply! i do like the cd3's better overall! htp31 works well but cd3 is my wick of choice
  7. Yup it can't hurt to try them out. i usually only use 1oz per lb and don't always use deep colors so you may possibly get away with it. I find lx wicks to be very tricky! it also probably depends on what type of parrafin blend you are using. for instance a j223 may need a bigger wick than another blend. also TN candle supply sells all the sizes of LX wicks and they are only $6 for 100 and they come pkged nice and neat and work great =)
  8. Hi Paulette, i have samples of both the 600 and 700 series. i started to test but then got busy so will be doing more testing in the new year. they do send alot of wicks
  9. trish are you using soy or a parrafin blend? i haven't used them to much in soy because i like cottons in my soy but in my parrafin blend i use a lx 12 or 14 in an 8oz jj and alot of times i get away with a 12 rather than a 14! i use 16 & 18 in a 16 oz jj!! hth!
  10. when i used 4786 i tested the honey pot jars and got away with either a 60z or a 62z so didn't have to double wick!
  11. hi there i love cd-3 or htp31 for my soy tealights. i pour these when i have l have left overs when pouring jars...i either pour tarts or tealights!! the cd-3 seems to work with whatever fo i put in there though which is nice
  12. I agree that candlewic is a mixed bag. I have had several problems with them packing my 2 cases of jars in paper not bubble wrap so when i got them smashed into a million pieces i was not a happy camper. i emailed them twice no response....called and i was told that somehow it was me...because they never send out shipments without bubble wrap:mad: ...i took pictures to email it to them...LOL anyhoo after ALOT of pushing on my part i was sent 2 more cases and then received a bill for them in the mail a week later!!! next order was missing 4 items....emailed 3 times no response called and was told it would be fixed and sent out....never sent....called back again and was told well we can't send them because it says here its was in your box....ughhhh i finally got ellen on the phone & it was fixed and my items sent out. I use their wax and really like it but that is ALL i will be ordering from them in the future. its the only thing that doesn't get messed up & when you call they act as if they could care less. Its VERY poor customer service. Everyone says the owner is a nice guy and that is great but he needs to fix his CS problem before he doesn't own anything anymore. I really don't feel like i should have to call 3 or 4 times to get something fixed and get an attitude to boot. oh and i got an oil that had chunks floating in it as well...threw it away...waste of money they told me that is normal but of the 100's i have in my home its the first time i saw that!
  13. good morning! i just made some and put scent, logo ect on the lid on the outside and instructions on the inside of the lid...just something about putting paper on the bottom that sits on the warmer freaks me out!! though i am sure its probably fine..lol
  14. i love the igi 1246 granulated pillar blend...it has an awesome scent throw & you could easily mix it with your container blend! i tried 1343 & 1274 and this has the best throw by far. now you may be looking for a creamy wax for pillars & i don't know one of those..lol here is a link to the wax: http://shop.candlesandsupplies.com/candles/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=Candles&category%5Fname=Pillar+Waxes&product%5Fid=WAX%2D1246 i make pink sugar pillars for my mom all the time and she loves them and the fact that they burn forever! every fo i have tested in this wax has been terrific!
