  1. I have used the same UV stabilizer from BCN, but have not seen any floaties in my wax at all. I add it when the wax is almost completely melted, then add my dye, and when the wax cools down, add fo to it. Have not seen any floaties whatsoever when I poured it or even after the jars cooled. Just keep trying; maybe you will come up with a solution to your problem. Good luck!
  2. I don't see anything wrong with them! I think they look great!
  3. Your candle is beautiful! I bet is smells just as good as it looks!
  4. I bought the mold on eBay from a very nice lady. The picture she has of the candle created from the mold shows it frosted, but I haven't tried that one yet. If you would like the link to her eBay store, just send me a pm and I will point you in the right direction.
  5. Here are some of the grubby electric candles I make. I have sold quite a few of them to people at work and some at a couple of craft shows. They are scented, dyed, placed on a rusty tin plate with a pip berry candle ring, and tied with homespun cloth. These have become quite popular with the people I work with and it was almost a struggle to keep up with all the orders. I had to invest in an extra mold just to keep up with them! http://www.candletech.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9449&stc=1&d=1165906837 http://www.candletech.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9454&stc=1&d=1165906837 http://www.candletech.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9455&stc=1&d=1165906837
  6. How tall is your candle? The ones I make look about half the height of yours. Looks great, though! Good job!
  7. I ordered labels from them about a year ago and things went ok then. But, I ordered from them again and it took forever to get the labels. Plus, she put the wrong graphic on the label; not the one I ordered. I kept them, but decided not to do business with them again. I am going to try making my own from now on.
  8. I make grubby electric candles, too, but never heard of using a light ring either. Seems like it would be a fire hazard to me. All I use is a light cord with on/off switch and a low wattage silicone bulb. The candle sits on a rusty tin plate with a pip berry candle ring around it. Then, I tie a strip of homespun cloth around the middle for decoration. I have sold a whole lot of these at work because everyone thinks they are the greatest! Tried selling some at a craft show on Saturday, but didn't do well with them. Only sold one! I sold so many of them at work I had to invest in another grubby silicone mold to keep up with the orders!
  9. I can't believe you didn't do very well! Your set up is awesome and you did a great job setting everything up!
  10. I just love Greenleaf's Baked Apple Pie! It has a great throw both hot and cold!
  11. I really don't think it matters which soy you use, but would test one kind at a time. If you are ordering other things besides the wax, it would be best to order them all from the same place to save money on shipping costs. Good luck and let us know how your candles turn out!
  12. I use Greenleaf's Granny's Kitchen, and I just love it!
  13. I used Ky paraffin pillar blend for my electric candles with the pumpkin crunch cake fo and did not have any of the problems you had. I would try contacting NG to see if they can help you with it.
  14. Been working day and night on some grubby electric candles. I have an order for 16 of them for some ladies at work plus I need to make some more for an upcoming craft show in December. I am also making votives and will be working on some wax dipped bears tomorrow. On top of all that, I have to clean house, do the laundry, and go grocery shopping before we completely run out of food! A woman's work is never done!
  15. Boy, that's a scary thought! I would definitely not sell a candle I have not tested myself!
  16. Soy has a lower melt point which could cause the candle to soften too much. I use paraffin with a higher melt point to keep it from softening. I've made quite a few and none of them have melted yet.
  17. You could also try vinegar. It seems to remove a lot of odors in the kitchen.
  18. ICS has a great one called Chocolate Kisses. It smells like the real thing!
  19. I like the granulated wax because it is so much easier to scoop out and measure than the block wax. But, if you are looking for a particular wax for a project, most of the time it only comes in block form and you have to deal with the hassle of breaking it up. I usually put mine in a heavy duty trash bag and slam it on the cement outside my house.
  20. That is quite a beautiful display for your candles! They look absolutely beautiful! Great job!
  21. I am working on my first electric grubby candle using a new silicone mold. It will be scented Christmas Buttered Rum purchased from Green Leaf and will have icing dripping down the sides. I've got my fingers crossed that it will turn out ok! If it does, will be making more for Christmas.
  22. When I poured this scent, I used lavendar. Seemed to fit the description pretty well.
