  1. Those look like keepers to me. The kind I enjoy for myself.
  2. I think it looks great and with a new recipe too. As a new soapmaker, I drool over all the pics.
  3. I had a parrotlet die from a zinc twist tie, didn't know it was made of zinc. I have a macaw and burn candles but not in the same room. but I've known breeders who burn unscented in the same room. They do have sensitive respiratory systems but not as bad as some people believe. I was told not to use fabreeze around any pets and I'm careful about cleaners in the bird room.
  4. WOW! Beautiful soap. Are you sure your new at this B&B thing? LOL We shouldn't have kept lurking over here. It is more addicting than candles. Keep posting, I love it. Can't seem to stop either :rolleyes2 Billie
  5. Ohhh That is beautiful and the shells are so clear. I love it and happy anniversary to your parents.
  6. Thanks everyone, I think I'll give it a few weeks and see what it does. :smiley2:
  7. Hi castor oil 10% crisco 20% cco 10% oo 60% I left the soapcalc as it was, water 38 and superfat 5 It was 41.8 oz. water and 14.61 lye. I did add titanium dioxide which was different than the other batches and I used my water softener water instead of distilled. It was my version for sensitive skin to save on OO and it worked fine for 73 oz. oil. I was going for 110 oz. of oil this time but I ran it through soapcalc again. Thanks
  8. I have made 7 batches of soap since my first one posted, no problem. I made a double batch of OP 7 days ago, cut after two days and it is still soft. Don't know if I goofed on measuring or what. It looked gelled and I did the taste test and it seemed fine but it is still really soft. Do I cook it again or is it a goner? TIA Billie
  9. Yea How great is this? Looking good, can't believe it is your first. Now where's that money we had saved? LOL
  10. I love them. Were the stones embedded in the cane or put on after? You don't have to answer. I would understand LOL Love the pictures too
  11. I am speechless! Absolutely amazing. I don't know how you did that but I waaaant it LOL
  12. Mine is from Mill Creek, I did the OHP , not sure if that makes a difference? Haven't tried CP yet
  13. Thanks everyone. It is scented with sweet pea. I used the 15x6x2 drawer liner and kept reading through all the tutorials. I saw how to measure the box but it took me awhile to figure out the soap calculator. LOL It came out to 45 oz, I'll try 2 lbs. next, it was pretty thick. Thanks everybody for being so helpful and sharing your recipes :whoohoo:
  14. OMG! Stunning!!! How do you do that. Class please, pweeeease
  15. Thanks everyone, Maybe I shouldn't be encouraged. I feel a new addiction coming on. LOL Now I need to read, read and did I say read?

  17. I came from the candle side and have been lurking[drooling] I saw other newbies making AJ's soap sooooooo. Its my first and I used a drawer organizer because I didn't have any supplies and the color that left specks came from Hobby Lobby. It is an ugly beginning but I loved it.
  18. You might check this place out. I don't know where you live, but they have a warehouse in Indianapolis. They are based from Lafayette Indiana. WSP has 1260 hurricane wax http://www.newtonoil.com/ Billie
  19. Wow! Great hurricane. Nice looking family too I can't believe this is your first. WTG
  20. Thanks Satin D. I have used 4045 with no problems but I'm having problems with this one. I use stearic and pour hot for mottled, cold for rustic and vybar for smooth. I'll keep experimenting. Maybe not enough stearic? Thanks for the reply
  21. Hi everyone. I am using 1239 for the first time because I can get it local. I pulled up a page in the search section and still confused. This page says not to use additives except vybar for smooth candles. http://www.candlesupply.com/IGI1239.html First pillar poured hot at 1/2 ounce, came out mottled but was oily and used a paper towel. Second pillar, added 2 tbl. stearic per lb and poured cool for rustic and it came out smooth with pinholes but not oily. Anyone have experience with this wax? I am clueless. Thanks everyone Billie
  22. I'm not sure I see it either. Is she facing to the left and sucking on a banana? LOL I'm serious.
  23. I put a slab of wax in a plastic container and wack it with a hammer. The first slab is the hardest because it is laying flat. All the others slabs are easy and and I do them one at a time until all broken up, then keep covered with the lid. What ever works for you.
