I'm not all that experienced but had a great recipe with lard. I wanted to play with tallow too so I added some tallow and played with the numbers and came out with a great bar of soap that was harder than my original. I love it because it is a really nice white hard bar with good qualities and quicker to unmold. It is also cheaper than Palm if you don't mind the animal fats. Some mix tallow with Palm also. HTH
Hey, looking good. Hope the divider worked alright. I've done things like that and more. lol I have been trying a squeeze bottle lately to get more control over pouring. It is exciting to learn something new. Great job.
DH made the mold that comes apart and lined it with very thin lexan, glued on the sides and bottom. He used a lot thicker lexan to make the dividers. No lining anymore. Yea!
Something else I figured out by myself and now confirmed by Jeff is: You can't just pull the soap off the dividers or base, you have to slide them off. Along with sodium lactate, sliding or pushing off should work hopefully.
I think you are correct. My first recipe was very basic and although is was a great bar in a wooden mold lined with paper, it was a little softer. I have one now that is about 5 points harder. I have also learned how to do a little water discount now and didn't know how earlier. I bet it makes a lot of difference in these types of molds. I'm so glad you posted as this could help a lot of us.
Sorry to hear that. The soap is so pretty. I wish someone who has acrylic molds would chime in with some tricks or something. Thanks for the update. I had the same problem with the HDPE.
Jamie that is gorgeous!!! O.K. ready to throw out this soy now. haha Some people just poke holes and insert wicks for testing, they don't fasten them to the bottom. :smiley2:
