  1. They look great. I love that color on the spearmint one. I wonder if it will change as it cures. Every green batch I make I end up with greenish/brown soap.
  2. I'm not positive but...German is more for holistic purposes. Although the roman is used this way too it just tastes better. Plant wise they are two compelety different types of plants. I can grow roman here in my garden but I can't grow german..propably cus I suck at growing annuals.
  3. OMgosh Kate you are so funny..santa big That damn peppermint smell gave me a migrane for a week....When I added the fo the pot I was worried cus I couln't smell it all. Then I stuck my face in the pot and took a huge wif. I thought I was gonna pass out!! my eyes even started to water Okay for the record..... Peppermint was not my first choice for this swap but at the time, I was pouring these for my store and I have that cute snowfake mold so I thought what the hell.
  4. I'll third the jb weld. That stuff is just perfect!!!!!
  5. Since this thread was originally about wsp...and even though she/he said not to answer I'm gonna anyway.... I've ordered from them a few times and have had good service. I didn't feel like I got taken on shipping. My orders came to over 50$ each and shipping was never over 14$ They are in OH I'm in AZ seemed pretty resonable to me. And when I run out of lotion bottle I'll order from them again.
  6. My year was a huge compilation of ups and downs. I lost a huge wholesale account that I thought for sure was going to topple my business on its back side..but after picking up two more I was able to make ends meet. I didn't do any shows this year at all. I do regret that a little becuase I saw some really busy shows here the past few months. I opened a small booth in a local market back in July and it took till October to finally start making some money. My candle product line is know perfected..My scent list is the only thing that will grow. I no longer do custom orders or weddings. Last year my main focus was weddings and it damn near killed me. I'm still working on my B&B line. Currently I only sell bath salts, cp soap, lotion and bath bombs. This coming year I will focus on B&B in a big way and get that line looking good. All in all I had a good money year,,,but all of it was put back into my company. I'll be opening my retail store in March....if things go as planned. Now for stats. This doesn't inlclued the month of dec. My retail sales are up 13% from last year My wholesale is up 51% On the flip side I want to add stats on my costs. Last year I could buy pallets of wax and get it delivered for free to my house at a cost of .44 a pound. Now I pay .64 a pound My elctric bill is up 17% from last year And we all took a raping from gas prices. This was a tough one...A few of my accounts are far from me. My phone and internet services both went up 4.99
  7. Boy am I glad I'm not the only one who does that. ... Last year I needed votive boxes in a bad way so I made some using the priority boxes and spray glued gold wrapping paper to em.
  8. I think peak sells the inserts without having to buy the mold. Those inserts make it a whole lot easier...at least for me it did.
  9. Well put Liz. You need to know your market to determine what price your products will sell for. Check local craft shows and candle shops to see what others are selling. The general rule of thumb for retail is 3x or more your cost to make it....but for me selling clamshells is like pulling teeth....most here don't buy them because they don't even know what a tart or wax melt is..so I only sell them for 2.00 but I make it up on my pillars which I charge 5x what it cost me to make it.
  10. Me and another member of the board got in together to order their clams. They where not at all what we expected. At first I hated them but after being stuck with 420 of these things I'm getting use to them. They are just different from what I was used to ordering. They aren't as nice as the ones you can get here https://www.impact-mfg.com/store/
  11. Since comfort blend is gooey like vasiline...i use a large knife and cut each 25 pound block into forths. Cutting through the plastic is very easy. Then I just peel the plastic off and drop in the presto. Oh and to get the crap off your hands..... engine degreaser works really well..
  12. Those are beautiful. I love the ball candles.
  13. I heat em up and then I just wipe it clean with a paper towel.
  14. Yep, same here. It made for an expensive log of soap but it gave me basics of what I needed to do to turn all that stuff into soap.
  15. You could pm Jojo T. He posted some pics in the gallery of candles he made by lining a mold with card baord.
  16. I really like the colors you picked. That tilted layer is perfect.
  17. Well all that hard work paid off. You have some really nice looking candles there. I bet they smell great too.
  18. Definitly dig the snow flake. Love how the light really brings it out.
  19. I've never tried plain hazelnut either..but I'll second the Vanilla Hazelnut. It's yummy!
