  1. Here's what I found: Black Ice fragrance is full of captivating top notes of citrus, lime and mandarin. Mid-notes of rose and lavender fuse with contemporary herbal highlights of basil and bay leaf with a background of infusions of patchouli, moss and red cedar add to the intrigue.
  2. I've been trying to make my first pillar using Palm Feather wax from CW. I didn't poke relief holes in the first one because it looked nice and level at the top and it feathered ok in some areas but not others. Once I lit it, I saw why relief holes were necessary..lol. I was told to melt it down and try again. Well, I've been doing that, I think I'm on my 4th re-melt of this pillar and the only place it feathers now is just on top. The rest of it is smooth. Am I done re-using this little batch of palm feather wax?
  3. Very nice. I love your packaging. Nice finshed look.
  4. I use KY but testing Floridasoysolutions now since we're both in Florida to save on shipping. She sent me samples of her soy.
  5. Lawsuit waiting to happen because you know some idiot is going to do it. Why on earth would they state safe to eat before adding FO. The candles that have the extra wick for dipping and eating, does that candle have Fragrance oil or Flavor oil? Does Flavor oil even throw from a burning candle? I never tried flavor oils in a candle. I agree. They shouldn't even mention it. They're now marketing with a mindset that "sex sells". Light the candle, pour it on your partner then eat it or lick it off. That's what I think when I see or read about a candle like that. Also, if it's the same as eating Crisco, I wouldn't venture too far from a bathroom..lol
  6. I would think any non candle cheap jar would explode on a warmer but I'm not sure. I find it hard to believe that one exploded using the proper jar unless of course the warmer is at fault with regard to it's heat setting? I haven't used a warmer for anything other than my coffee cup since I don't make melts yet. I also don't recommend warmers with my candles. I steer non burning candle customers to my smelly jellies.
  7. My personal favorite is Plumeria. I use NG's. I associate that fragrance with a certain time in my life. Everytime I smell that fragrance, it gives me a very happy feeling.
  8. I use NG's in a soy/para blend. Wonderful throw.
  9. Hi Craig: I haven't tried any of the luxury brands in fact, I never heard about Votivo until last Tuesday. I participate in a farmers market and a woman came to my booth and asked me if I carried them. I told her I didn't and then proceeded to show her my candles. Did the usual speal, took the lids off, let her smell, told her about the burn time, etc. She ended up buying 3 of my jelly jar candles. She told me she loved the votivo but also liked mine now. I guess my point is that since you're the store owner, people will know the name brands and luxury brands, but will also look and smell yours. The advantage being is that you're right their to boast about your product and how well it performs. Am I making sense? Sometimes it's hard to do with typed words.
  10. I stand corrected. I did a light search and found that the kiss "design" was registered in 1983. I'm not sure if you can make a kiss shaped candle, melt or anything like that. You could always alter the mold...maybe bite off the tip of the kiss?...lol
  11. I think you're ok. It's making and selling candy in the shape of the hershey kiss and calling it a kiss.
  12. Do you think they watch the little guys for creative new ideas to formulate and call their own?
  13. In his first post he mentioned a rather "large" space and that he only makes one handmade country style candle. I doubt very seriously that he could fill a large store and flourish with one style of candle. He also stated that he has enough confidence in his candle to offer the "others" right next to his. He's obviously not looking to open a store for his own candle. He's on a business venture that would include his candle. I don't know how many times I've read posts from people who are so sure of their product that they would stand it up against the big guys. Well, this guy is doing exactly that...he's so confident that he's standing his up right with the big guys. If that's not confidence in a product, I don't know what is.
  14. If you add dendritic, you will not be able to put this in the organza bags. Dendritic is very fine. That's why I'm not going to use this for car fresheners.
  15. First, I measured out 1lb of solar salt. I colored it and stirred well. I use powders and mica's to color, not liquid. Then I sprinkled 1TBS of dendritic over the colored salt and mixed thoroughly. Added 1 tsp. of FO. Mixed thoroughly. Added 2nd TBS of dendritic, stirred thoroughly, then added 2nd. tsp of FO, stirred thoroughly.
  16. I made mine this past Monday. Still doing fine. I have mine in a crystal dish. I did use dendritic. I don't plan on offering these as car fresheners so I'm not going to test them out for that purpose.
  17. Yup, me too. I'm in recovery now. I was on a 3 month binge. I bought so much stuff and then one morning I woke up and looked around my house. Supplies everywhere! How did it get like this? I have a candle workshop built on to the back of my house with PLENTY of storage space. All filled. Florida room, filled. Kitchen counters, cabinets and any spare space, filled. I even put plastic shelves up in my bedroom. Filled. When did my house get so disasterous with candle, B&B supplies!? That morning, I listed a bunch of stuff in the classies. Now that I'm in recovery, I stepped back my line. No more B&B for awhile. I'm back to basics. Just candles. The B&B that I have made up will remain till sold out. Oh, and I do not visit the coops or classies anymore. When I read a post about a great supply, packaging idea, or B&B recipe, I DO NOT click on the supplier link. It was a very expensive lesson. As I sit here and type this, I just noticed a brand new bottle of Isopropyl Myristate sitting on my desk. What the heck was I going to make with that? It's tough...but I remain strong..lol
  18. Very nice. I can see the potential. Best of luck and success to you in your new place.
  19. I think you're looking at this as a business venture, not a way to make a living off your own candle. I see nothing wrong with your plan to carry others along with the greeting cards, etc. It does give the customer choices and allows you to make a sale where you might have missed one. Not all customers are into country. I'm sure if you wanted to promote your candle only, you would have looked at a much smaller space or stuck with craft fairs, farmers markets, and explored wholesaling and consignments. Best of luck and successful wishes to you in your new business venture.
  20. You might want to add dendritic salt to your mixture to hold the FO and color.
  21. I don't think I'd waste the time disputing it with paypal. There is no law or rule that states you must specify if it comes from a smoke free house, warehouse or wherever. Most will state it out of "courtesy" to non smokers. You bought it used and that's the risk you take when you buy used items. I do know that walmart sells a spray called smoke away. You can usually find it either in the air freshener isle or in the automotive section where the car fresheners are. It's a water based spray. Or, you can get 2 baggies. 1 bigger than the other. Place a fair amount of baking soda in the larger baggie. Insert the mold in the smaller one. Do not close the baggie that holds the mold. Place the open mold baggie in the larger baking soda baggie. Zip the larger one closed only. Wait a day or 2 and your problem should be solved.
  22. Since I'm using the same type of bags that I use for my bath salts, I can say at least 3 months. That's the longest I've stored bath salts. I use the same FO's since they're also B&B safe.
  23. I made a huge batch of solar salt scented with Pink Pepperberry (remember this from Backwoods). So far I really like the salt. I hear it lasts quite a while. I colored this batch with dark pink Mica, also used dendritic in the mix to hold the FO. When I was through, I added gold mica to give it more shimmer. I'm not putting mine in sachet bags, I'm going to put them in clear bags and sell as room fresheners. I too ordered the aroma beads. They should be here any day so I can't compare yet either.
  24. You can find them on ebay. Search "lawn goose pattern". Other than that, I can only suggest going to a fabric store and looking through pattern books.
