  1. ok...probably a stupid question but what if you add a little soy to soften the palm wax? cringing as I click on submit..lol
  2. I was wondering about this. I have palm feather and palm crystal and I'm done with pillars. I don't want to make them and was wondering if I could just use it to make Melts (Tarts)? That way I don't have to worry about wicking...lol. Can I do this with this wax?
  3. I'm not sure where to post this. Sorry if it's in the wrong place. Is it possible for someone to have an allergy to candles scented with FO's and only able to burn candles made with pure EO's? Or is it all in their head?
  4. I go through that when I do craft fairs. Are these soy? Can I rub it on my skin? I now take B&B with me along with my candles and reply, no you can't rub it on you but I have some wonderful lotion that you can use and you won't risk burning yourself.
  5. Thanks for the feedback! Kim, Thanks for posting such a great recipe. This stuff is addicting. It's all I want to make now!...lol
  6. ohhh...i get it now. I don't mix anything in my presto pots. All I do is use it to melt the wax and yes, I use a long handled plastic spoon when stirring in that. I pour the wax from the presto pot into a pour pot, which is stainless and then add my fo and color. In the pour pot I stir everything together with a stainless steel spoon.
  7. Nope. I do too. Stainless. I asked above about wooden spoon, stir sticks.
  8. I'm curious for the ones that use wooden spoon, popsicle stick thingys, paint sticks. Don't you go through an awful lot of them? If you re-use, don't they hold the FO and color? Maybe it depends on the wax you use? I use 50/50 and add soy. I use stainless steel everything. All I have to do is wipe off with a paper towel and I'm good to go again. I have 1 long handled stainless stir spoon. Just curious.
  9. I'm wondering if it's the microwave way of melting the butters that give you problems? I use unrefined shea in my lotions sticks, lip balms and just yesterday for my whipped shea. I never microwave it and I never have grainy problems. I never measure to 170 degrees. What I do is fill a sauce pan with water about 1/4 of the way. Set a larger stainless steel bowl on top, not down in the water, put the shea in by itself, turn the heat on med to med low and let it gradually melt down before adding anything else. Takes about 20 minutes for this to happen. Its right around this time that I have to turn the heat down so the water isn't bubbling too much. Then I add my other butters, beeswax if making stick or balms. It takes longer doing it this way, but I never have to worry about it being grainy. HTH
  10. Thanks! I wasn't too sure about it. I thought maybe it was supposed to be runnier. I followed Kimberly's directions. I think I had it exactly where it should be and then whipped it once more for 3 seconds and felt it stiffen. I think it would have been just right if I didn't do that. Can you over whip this? It's not emulsified.
  11. I don't know anything about this but found this site a while back and bookmarked it. Not sure if this is what you're looking for or not. Hope it helps http://www.pvsoap.com/instructionsforrebatch.htm
  12. This was pretty easy and fun to make. I don't like the clean up though...lol
  13. I think it'll look nice with the card folded over the top.
  14. I smoke. Never in the house. Never in the candle shop. I'm so scared a non smoker will pick up on the smell that after I've taken a smoke break outside, I wash my hands before handling any products or supplies. Besides, I myself, a smoker, hate the smell of it. Ladysj, maybe start smoking outside? The odor will remain in the house though. You'd have to repaint and thoroughly clean everything to get rid of it. Do you have a garage where you can store your supplies?
  15. This depends. If you smoke in your house and all of your supplies are in the house and you make everything in the house, it's going to smell like smoke. Even if you tape a the box shut because the box itself absorbs the odors. Is your work area in a seperate room in the house? If so, don't smoke in that room as long as the door is always closed. But, I still think the smell will seep into that room. A smoker may not notice the odor but a non smoker definitely will.
  16. Is this what it's supposed to look like? I stood the jar on it's side to show how stiff it is yet it's not hard. The consistency is like the whipped cream that squirts out of the can but a little heavier if that makes sense.
  17. I'm getting ready to make this replacing the Hemp butter with Mango Butter. I was wondering if this would make a good After Sun moisturizer? Thanks
  18. I think you absolutely did the right thing. Your customer service is applauded.
  19. Thanks for posting this link. Very informative.
  20. Stainless steel big mixing spoon from walmart 2.98
  21. I couldn't find a dupe. I was lucky to find that description.
  22. Thanks for the help. Pillars are so much harder compared to jar candles. I'm going to keep trying.
