  1. now I have a question....why can't you use any kind of oil that you would like to add to it, i.e- jojoba or grapeseed ??
  2. just wondering....at what temp are you adding your FO, what temp are you pouring, and how long are you curing before lighting?? sorry for all the ???'s. I have used the CB advanced for quite some time and have not had a problem with it, although I know that others here have.
  3. that's a pretty shroom!!! Mine are usually very ugly.
  4. I have used store brand plastic wrap, and haven't had any problems with it.
  5. well, since we all know that the same thing does not work for everybody...lol...lol...... I just thought I'd share what I'm doing--heat to 175, add color and stir, then add FO. I'm pouring @ 125, and covering w/a box.
  6. I'd have to say, that mine are setting up very smooth, some w/a little bit of frosting. I am testing one now w/a scent that has had a poor throw in the past-- just to see if this wax helps.. I'm still finding that I can wick down, even w/9% FO.(lighter oils)
  7. I'm going to make a soy lotion, using the multibase and the butter. I emailed KB, and asked them about it prior to my purchase. I got very prompt replies from them, and suggestions as well.
  8. Well, I've ordered some muti-base, and I'm going to add some of the Soya Skin Butter to it. Kitty @ KangarooBlue suggested adding 1oz to the base.Do I have to have a stick blender to mix it?? Also- what other "basic" equipment to I need?? I don't really want to have to go out and buy a whole bunch of things. I do have a large glass pyrex measuring cup (and a microwave...lol) TIA for the help!!
  9. just wondering--what is the diameter of the container??
  10. May I first suggest that you find out which suppliers are the closest to you. That will keep your shipping costs down. Then purchase a small amt of a few different kinds to "test" and see what performs best for you, and gives you the results you are looking for. HTH
  11. well...I can't help you w/your wicks, 'cause I do not use the CD's. BUT....I am a nuker!! I melt all my wax in the microwave. Just make sure that you don't use high power, and if you are remelting a batch w/FO and color, you only need to reheat it to your pour temp. HTH
  12. Ihave found that the LX series are self-trimming as well. I know that the RRD's are not
  13. thanx for the input. I do want to incorporate some soy into it, to compliment my candle line. I have tried the base from MC and love it! I just hate the parabens in it.
  14. wish I could post pics :cry2:.#1 test...2 -40z dodec. colored navy w/ 6% FO. 1- RRD34..great cold & hot throw. melt pool reached 3/4" deep. power burned, lasted 4 days 1-RRD29...great cold throw, not as good hot throw. melt pool reached almost 1/2" deep. power burned, lasted 6 days. very slight film left on sides. WHICH WICK WOULD YOU USE???...oh BTW- both set up very smooth, w/almost no frosting at all, and no wet spots. #2 test... I'm getting ready to burn it now. 4 oz jj. colored mauve w/ 9% FO, and wicked down a size to see if this ones burns. but 3/4 of it was one big wet spot, although it set up perfectly smooth. okay....#2 test is burning perfectly!!!!! I'm gonna test one more, but I'm finding that you CAN wick down a size, so far anyway...lol
  15. anyone ever use this lotion base?? It has no parabens, and that is what I am looking to use.
  16. Deb-- I am using the Ecosoya PB, and add a little bit of CB to it to soften it up a tad (had a few people suggest this, including my supplier) CandleMan-- I just might have to agree, that there is a bit too much work involved to do votives. Perhaps I'll just stick w/my tarts. Yes, at times there is a tiny bit of wax that gets under the pin, and I do scrape it off w/my nail or a butter knife.
  17. About 1/3 of my votives are not releasing from the wick pins . I have tried putting them in the freezer for a moment, but I'm still getting chunks that break off the bottoms and remain stuck to the wick pins.....then I have to re-melt and re-pour, cause they don't sit flat.Do I need to use that release spray ( is that for soy??). It just really stinks when only one of the three I made are worth a ****. TIA for any other suggestions
  18. I have got it down to using an LX 12. I know that you have to have them in a fairly snug votive holder-- I got a flowerpot one to try, and it worked pretty good. I got almost 12hrs out of it--of course, I power burn . The problem I occaisionally have is that the wax doesn't always release from the bottom part of the votive pin. I m trying putting them in the freezer for a few minutes. I got 7 out of 10 to release "whole"
  19. Hi Deb , I've been using it for almost a year....for my tarts, and just started doing votives. What's up??
  20. I just found them here on eBay ( did a search) http://stores.ebay.com/Bayou-Candle-Company looks like a good price too!!
  21. I would suggest a pillar blend. I made some small floaters once, but didn't have them wicked right. They cracked too. My supplier suggested adding some of the regular soy to it to soften it up a bit. HTH
