  1. Did well in Soy for me too, just wasn't at all popular. Oh well. It is a nice combo though.
  2. YEP, another stinky ol gal here . Haven't broke a one. And never really have that much wax left over to have to "melt" out though. I just wipe it w/a paper towel, wash it w/lots of soappy water, and re-use it. Sometimes I'll run it through the dishwasher.
  3. I haven't found a one of their FO's that wasn't top notch!!
  4. I have a "Spa Scent" line in my candles, that I am also going to use in a lotion base: Sage & Citrus Lemongrass, LemonGrass Sage Lavender & Sweet Basil Cucumber Melon Baby Powder Rain Ocean Meditaion Citrus Musk Lavender Cucumber Sage Chamomile Cotton Blossom
  5. I have never been disappointed with anything from CandleScience. I have also used a few WYW from BCN: Perfect Pumpkin Buttercream Crunch Perfect Storm Snowberry Mulled Cider
  6. Dixie Cup votives???? Pleeeese tell me more!!
  7. I have a potential customer who does 1-stroke painting. She has painted paraffin votives, and they are beautiful. She lives right down the road from me, and I met her at a show I did this weekend. She wants to be able to get "mini pillars" in large quantities, as she cannot always do so when buying them in the store. Has anyone ever painted soy votives/pillars??? I know that when you prep a paraffin candle, you wipe it w/alcohol first. Please advise.....
  8. hi, I tell people I make Soy Candles. That usually opens a big door, since there are still alot of people that don't know about them yet. I believe the "tecnical" term is Chandler.
  9. Hmmm....I'm a CBA user too. I like it the best out of all the waxes I've tried. What kind of FO's are you using?? I always had a good hot & cold throw, as long as I was using a top quality FO. Just asking, and as we know-- we all have different results with the same things. I am learning quickly about "the joy of soy"...lol If you'd like to try a different wax, may I suggest that you see what is available the closest to you (shipping costs). That way you are not spending a fortune on testing.
  10. Additives if any? none Preferred dyes? none, I use this wax for my tins and my Cobalt Blue glasses Preferred wick (Not sizes)? RRD, but I've found I have to wick up a size w/this wax Pouring temp you recommend? slushy, ~100 What you do to prevent frosting? not concerned What you do to prevent rough tops? not really a problem Do you do anything to prevent wet spots? not worried about them
  11. Hi all, Just thought I'd share my test results w/you. I have also sent these to Jason. Waiting to hear on suggested temps, but couldn't wait, so I did what I found posted on the boards. I received samples of 3 of their waxes. 402,GW444,449. (pictured L-R) I used my most prone to frosting combo, and one of my favorites too. FO- Cranberry Marmalade from CS @ 6% 1/4 reddiglo cranberry die chip, ea. RRD 37 jars- 4oz, 12-sided. heated to 180, poured @150. I have to make my pics smaller to upload them(as soon as I can figure THAT out...lol ) I'm new to this digital camers thing.I will describe what they look like: 402- looked like colored curdled milk!! but had a great cold and decent hot throw. had too deep a burn pool, so I'll wick down?? GW444- a beautiful looking candle. no frost. no wet. smooth top. bad cold throw, so-so hot throw. hung up a little on one side, but nice depth to pool. 449- part of one side looked like the 402, the top looked crystalized, and it had slight frosting on the bottom only. had a great cold throw and a decent hot throw, nice pool. Looking forward to thoughts/suggestions/comments.
  12. Hi Anne, Not sure if I can be of much help, as I have never used any of those waxes before. Just wanting to make sure you are using a container blend, and not a votive/pillar blend because of the cracking. And also make sure that you are following the suggested melt and pour temps for each....all soy wax is not the same. All I know is that if I use a wax that says to pour slushy, I do not warm the jars. Oh- and did you wash your jars first?? I also find that I have to "play" around w/pour temps to see what works best - (I can pour warmer when the temp in my house is warmer and it is warmer outside ). And some waxes are more prone to frosting than others, and some color/scent combos can increase the chances of that also. I am relatively new myself....so by the way...welcome  I cure w/the lids on, so I can put them away.
  13. I have been using the Advanced for quite some time now....I don't recall a single candle ever frosting on me. What I am still trying to work on though, is the wet spots.
  14. not quite sure about this....but you might try rubbing an ice cube on it :undecided
  15. I want to thank you all very much for the input. But most of all.......I ahave to thank everyone for all the laughs. You all are very cool. :whoohoo:
  16. okay, I keep "hearing" about these heat guns....I apologize, but I gotta ask......why do you use them/what do you use them for?? :embarasse I did a search on them, and they come in different "sizes" . How do you know which one to get? I appreciate the input.
  17. Type of Soy or Soy Blend you use? CB Advanced. Have also tried others, but like the Advanced the best. Additives if any? None Preferred dyes? Have only used Reddi-Glo chips Preferred wick (Not sizes)? currently using RRD's, but would like to change?? Pouring temp you recommend? 125 when it's warm outside, 115-120 when the weather is cooler What you do to prevent frosting? don't have a problem w/this wax What you do to prevent rough tops? re-pour or hairdryer IF neccessary Do you do anything to prevent wet spots? Still working on that....I have cleaned and warmed the jars, and it still happens, but not all the time
  18. I use a soy pillar wax, and the metal tart/floater molds. Them babies pop right out. I call them tarts, and most of them you can smell through 2 layers of plastic. (I individually wrap them in saran, then put them in a ziploc)
  19. I'm relatively new myself- been doing soy since last summer. You should received instructions w/your wax, as they are not the same. What type of wax did you get?? I use my microwave, so I have a few candy thermometers handy. Do you have some small jars to "test" with?? I also use empty margarine/cottage cheese/sour cream type containers for mixing. I live in FL, and have found that I have to pour at a cooler temp right now w/the weather being colder. Hope my opinion helps . I'm sure that everyone has there own little things that work for them. I've gotten some very good tips from here. Everyone is so helpful.
  20. Hi Darla, I have gotten mine from WholesaleSuppliesPlus before. Your best bet is to check on shipping prices to where you are at....now that costs have gone up
  21. thanx for the replies so far . I'll be checkin' them out.
  22. Hi B&B ers, I currently make Soy candles, and I'm thinking of adding a lotion to go with my SpaScents. Don't really have the time to mix everything from scratch, with doing the candle thing. I want to use a base lotion with as few preservatives as possible, or at least without a bunch of chemicals.....and preferrably paraben free. ( perhaps I'm asking for too much :rolleyes2???) So far I have found Millcreek, Soywholesale, and Moonglow. OPEN TO ALL SUGGESTIONS Many thanx to all in advance!!
  23. wanted to say HI , as I am in FL too. Did you get your wax from CandleScience? I have used this wax alot, and like it for the most part. It can be a little touchy when the weather changes though. Most of the time makes a very pretty candle. Feel free to contact me if there is anyting I can do for you. I am new here too.
