  1. I am assuming it is 100% soy? If so, others that might work (round about for starting points): two 51 cottons, eco 12/14, cd 12/14, rrd 47 Those are the ones I have used/tested in a jar with the same diameter.
  2. Good ole 7. Have not made the jump yet. Thanks for the "action" term...never heard of it. Off to Google.
  3. Can I just say I have her beat? I have a 13 step pouring process. That is approximately the number of times I was interrupted by my children yesterday while making candles. Sometimes it is more...sometimes less. Off to add it to my web site!
  4. Here is what I am doing: Opening the picture converting the background to a layer using the elliptical marquee dragging the marquee around the area of the photo I want to keep Using a feather of about 25 Then click the "add layer mask" button on the layers palette. I have also done this with the same result: Made a duplicate copy of the background image and turned the background layer off. Did the whole marquee thingy as above. Went under the select menu and chose inverse Got to edit and chose clear Where the checking vs. the white comes into play seems to be in how I am saving it? When I view the above effect in photoshop, I see it as I want it to be...with the "check" symbolizing that the photo at that area is transparent. But, as I said, when I go to save it as a jpg or giff for the web, the checking turns to white. It remains checked (transparent) if I save it as a png24, but the file size is HUGE! I have had someone help me via pm and I am going to try that tonight and see if it works (not at home right now). If it does, I will post the solution. Of course, if anyone has any more ideas, I am all ears!
  5. Okay, I am sure there is a simple fix to this, but I will be darned if I can figure it out. I think I have searched for every tutorial known to man and been playing in Photoshop for three days now! I have a very soft faded background on my website. I am wanting to do some vignette style (faded edge) oval shaped photos to put on my site. I figured out how to do a vignette photo in Photoshop, but when I save it as a jpg or gif file, it does not look right on my site. When I do a jpg or gif, then put it on my site, it looks like a white rectangle with a faded edged oval picture inside the rectangle. Basically what is happening when I save as a jpg or gif, the "transparent" area that i removed turns white. So I figured out if i save it as a png-24, it will look the way I want it to on my site. The only problem is the file is HUGE! Over 3 megs. When I try to save it under 150kb, it looks terrible. Any ideas?
  6. Very helpful. You have a LOT of networking opportunities. I never did get a lot of traffic from their website because they STILL have not updated it with my info (mental note to email them again). But, I go to their mixers/meetings and have gotten a lot of business that way. I met two local realtors and now sell them cases of candles at a discount for them to give to their clients, which in turn, gave me even more business.
  7. KYs hot chocolate is yummy too and throws really well in soy.
  8. Thanks Top. Nice to know I am not going nuts. (Debatable by some, I am sure)
  9. Like I said previously, I know they used to test CD wicks. That is of course if their pictures were accurate. They had CD written on the side in a sharpie along with various sizes. I will say I hope I am remembering the company. It was a soy based one out of the Dallas area that made it really big with the exact same packaging/containers/etc. I am 90% sure it is ergo's site that I remember seeing. Of course sometimes I cannot remember my own name, so don't bet the house on it.
  10. Wait a minute, Tart. Is there a price on your head? Will it cover my room rate? If so, let's get adjoining rooms! No really. You will be safe. (And in case big brother is watching, no, I am not really planning on taking Tart out, unless it is for a drink.)
  11. As politically incorrect as this might be, I have to say that made me chuckle!
  12. Top said That is so true. They have the advantage of having the capital to have people work FOR them making oils FOR them. Kind of like having a personal seamstress who will taylor fit your clothes FOR you instead of having to buy clothes (oils) off of the rack and trying to taylor them yourself for your needs. It has been so long since I have read about them. I think their site changed a lot since I visited it last. Does anyone remember their story? I am sure they were much like us, although I have to say they found the market niche and filled it. Packaging/marketing IS the product, and they hit that one on the head.
  13. I think it is totally possible. I use 415 and some of my oils which will blow the doors off of you house. I admit, it is a love hate relationship, though. For every 10 oils I try, only one will work that way. It is harder to find great throwing oils for 415, but it can be done.
  14. I am impressed with their candles! I could be mistaken, but I am almost positive that they use straight 415. I remember seeing a picture of their testing, maybe on their site? I will have to go hunt for it. It has been a while so they may have taken it off. Anyway, they had a table full of candles which were being tested and I remember seeing CD 20 and CD 22 writted on a few of them - single wicked tumblers. Okay, went to the site and could not find the pics. Drats.
  15. They get a five page packet! I ask them to list times of burns, measure melt pools, give opinions on throw and scent, etc.
  16. I use two from JBN. As mentioned, Rosebud is really good. To me, it is more like a tea rose and very delicate. They also have Gypsy Rose which is so good. It has more of the green smell to it and reminds me more of being in a rose garden and getting the full effect.
  17. So don't you find it ironic that the owner emailed someone saying: Ironic because when you TRY and do what the owner suggested, you are not even given the option to do so! In order to "place larger orders at a time and save on shipping costs" it would help to be given the option of holding off until the other oils are in stock instead of seeing "REORDER" on your invoice. Again, using THEIR words, how can "candle makers to place larger orders at a time and save on shipping costs" when you DID but they did not let you know the oils were out of stock?
  18. Phostoshop is SUCH an awesome product but very intimidating as well. Heck, I know how to do a lot with it, but feel like I have only scratched the surface. I used the Sans 24 hour series. The books are broken into 24 one hour lessons/chapters. It was great for me - the way I like to learn. Check half.com. Since you have an older version of Photoshop, I bet you can get an inexpensive copy. Another thing I did was keep an eye on their website under the training area: http://www.adobe.com/training/ They have lots of on line training classes, and other items of interest. Also, they occasionally will travel around and give free seminars or ones that are pretty cheap. I went to a Photoshop "tour" which was free. (Wait, thinking - it was either free or only like $50. If there was a cost it was minimal) I learned so much and got a lot of cool freebies and ideas.
  19. :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: That is TOO funny given all their claims about box pricing! I hope they see this. I hope they realize that it is not just the handful of people who have replied on here that will never order from them again, but the large number of folks who have viewed this and not replied.
  20. ...AND use silicone for your wicks, do you have a problem with it gooping up? I thought I remembered hearing that somewhere but could not find anything with a search. Also, when I set my double wicks, I set them a certain way (turned opposite ways so the wicks will curl out in either direction). When you use the wick setter, does it set the wicks straight down, or does it somewhat move the wicks as you set them down in the jar?
  21. Okay, that has to be the most RIDICULOUS thing I have ever heard. It is simply laughable. First of all, someone who is choosing a $15 shipping box just is not very business savvy, eh? Second, the way they include it in the communication, it sounds as if they are charging you, as well, for the labor to move the "paper wads". Those dang paper wads. I know each time I have to remove "paper wads" from my boxes, it takes all day. Wednesday are usually "paper wad" day at my house. I block out the whole afternoon. Those "paper wads" are just so time consuming. Dang pesky "paper wads". Can you tell I just like typing "paper wads"?
  22. This one is just for you, from one of my favorite movies: He's bona fide! (or she in this case?) Congrats!
  23. I will have you know the authorities have been alerted.
