Aaahhh...you are so sweet Lightmyfire.... Well, to be quite honest, they really turned out so beautiful. I made a few for a prim shop I sell to and she is test burning them for me as well as myself and she is just loving the look. It so fits this shop with all primitives, furniture etc.....I'll get some pictures up in the next day or so.

any pics available yet? I'd love to see!

They still come out rather attractive, the ivory is pretty, subtle and sophisticated.
how many chips/pound do you use?

You know Lightmyfire the only thing I can suggest is try a frosted container or better yet an amber jar as that might take care of the problem. I'm in the process of doing that. Vanilla is one of my most favorite scents but it really bothers me and discourages me when i see them turning "yellow" and I mean yellow in a store I sell to. Now for me personally I don't care when I make for me and I don't even use the uv for myself. But it is a problem.....

I am in the process testing the amber mason jars--you were kind enough to let me know you are using those as well. They are gorgeous!!

Sorry late to this thread....left for the emergency animal clinic last night at 5:00 and didn't get home till 1:30 this morning....Horrible horrible night and then this morning, just devestation.....Well I need to get somewhat focused and get my mind elsewhere..... Gail, you use 464 as me...Let me tell you this about WSP VBN....This fragrance is simply out of this world. I was at a friends house this past week and actually 2 weeks before and when I walked into her house all you could smell was this scent and you talk about strong? Omg.....It's beautiful...It's not cheap, but take my word just beautiful and if I can't smell (which I can't) and I can smell something like this just opening the door to her house, rest assure it's a winner. Get a pound of it....If you don't like it, I will buy it from you..... I never had good luck with very vanilla...guess maybe I should try again. As you know I use Vanilla Voodoo from CC.

so looking back at the original discussion on this, Trappeur did mention WSP VBN which would be the Vanilla Bean Noel!!!!!

No, it colors them ivory, so the yellowing won't show. I've never kept them for an extended period of time, as I either burned them or sold them, so I don't know if the discoloring still happens over time.
thanks! I'll give it a try

I've also added Ivory dye chips to vanilla scents, they look nice, creamy and won't be looked upon as "discolored". I hope this helps?
do the ivory dye chips just help to make the wax even whiter so that the yellow isn't at noticeable? I use 6006 which is already pretty white; wondering if this trick will help? I'm so glad to be learning about the fluorescent lighting drama--I'm glad to know it wasn't something I was doing. Yay!! One more thing we can't control

Are you all talking about Vanilla Bean Noel?
no-Vanilla Bean. WSP also sells the Vanilla Bean Noel but that's a different scent

I was using CS Very Vanilla, and did not feel as if I was selling enough of them. I switched to NG Vanilla Bean, which sold much better, but when sun light hits the candles it turns the wax yellow.
Does any one have a suggestion to fix this issue? Another similar Vanilla Bean scent that doesn't yellow so much?
I ordered a sample in of CW Vanilla, which just smells like Vanilla Extract.
Thanks
I just posted a question on this very topic last week!! Ha! Great minds think alike! I had that happen in my customer's store and I also use CS Very Vanilla. I asked them if the sun shines on the shelf where they display the candles and they said No!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

I cannot express how sorry I am about your beloved Friendly and I completely understand how hard it is to watch your little friend go. The amazing thing is that he had a few moments of what seemed like normal before he left and you were there for that!!! What a blessing to have watched him eat and hear him purr...........
Give yourself time to cry and grieve. I'm sending you prayers and hugs also!

Save on Scents has it. Make sure you buy the ultra or extreme strength. The standard strength is watered down. BTW- I hate that they do this!!!
thank you!! Have you smelled this? The reviews say it is more cinnamon than berry which would not be at all like the Scentsy scent.

So you do a blend Lightmyfire? Do you mind me asking what ratio? I'm going to try that....
Trappeur
I do a 70% lavender, 30% vanilla blend. The Very Vanilla goes a long way

I had a customer request for Vanilla candles, so I got out 3 of my vanilla FO's. Very Vanilla from CS, Fresh Vanilla from Candlewic, and Vanilla Bean from WSP.
Very Vanilla is still hands down my favorite vanilla, Fresh Vanilla smells like vanilla, not bad, but Vanilla Bean from WSP smells nothing like vanilla to me. I looked up the reviews on their site, and most reviews were positive. But a few said it smelled like Root Beer, and a few said it smelled like licorice or anise. I can't pin down what it smells like, but I'm afraid to use it. My daughter says it smells like cough medicine. I bought a couple of 4 oz bottles from a local individual, so I won't be out much if I don't use it.
If any of you have used it in soy wax, does it smell like vanilla?
I might try it as a mixer, but I don't even know if I want to do that.
I agree with you about CS Very Vanilla--it's my absolute favorite vanilla-it's fabulous with CS Lavender. I haven't tried the WSP vanilla because I love this one!!

Got a picture?
There isn't a stabilizer that I know of for candles, but do you add anything to your wax like a UV inhibitor?
I don't add anything, not even dye.

I have made MANY lavender/vanilla candles for my specialty market customer and they sell like crazy. When I stopped in last week to check on inventory I noticed yellow rings around the tops of the candles. I'm assuming this is from the vanilla content; should I use stabilizer in my candles that have heaving concentrations of vanilla FO? I'm using 6006 wax, no dye.

I'd be interested in how much wax is left in the bottom after the wick is spent.

I'll keep you posted; maybe Trappeur can give us her experience with this

Aren't they beautiful! I've made them up already and bought the 32oz quart jars too and poured into them.....my oh my, they are stunning.
I tied burlap around the neck and put a sprig of eucalyptis under the burlap and wow......I'll put up a picture.
Trappeur
Cool! I'd love to see a picture! You always have the best packaging

I have a friend who only wants Scentsy's Snowberry fragrance in her home and she'd like me to make her some candles that have the same scent. Is anyone familiar with a dupe out there anywhere?

In my search for a stunning new container I stumbled on these gorgeous amber Ball 16 oz jars at Walmart and Target---LOVE THEM!!! Walmart had these one piece decorative lids to go with them so I'm all set and I can source them locally in the multitude of Walmart stores. Has anyone tried these yet? I can't wait to pour a candle in this beauty
-
thanks to all for your input; once again I've found a container idea that I love but is cost prohibitive and a hassle It's always fun to have the hunt to figure it out and I'm so thankful to have help on this forum so I don't waste too much time and $$!!

It would sure help me with my testing if I had a good starting point.
I use CD 8 or 10 in the 8 oz tins with the 6006; I use those for my store customer to burn instead of the more expensive jar candles they purchase from me

The top jar is a "wide mouth" canning jar.. Hard to tell but I think it is the 16oz.
The bottom smaller jar is another "wide mouth" canning jar.
Could be the 4, 6 or 8oz jar.
Now the lids used are the wide mouth. Fillmore has all these jars.
They also have the wide mouth lids to fit. Both size jars will take the wide mouth lid.
If they don't have the lids in black which I can't remember but you can easily check on their site, it looks to me like these lids on the jars in your picture were sprayed a black matte finish. 1803 is a big company and I can't imagine they spray all their lids, but maybe they do or most likely have a source. I would also go to 1803 candle company and bring up their site and you can see exactly what size those jars are. When you find your jars, better check to see if they have embossing or not on the jars for the sheer purpose of putting a label on it. Or most companies put a round label on their lid. Those canning jars are nice....I use them often in a couple of store account I have.
Also check out like Flaming and other companie as those jars are pretty popular.
Also too, if you want to save some big bucks, all the grocery stores carry these jars where you can pickup and not have any shipping costs involved. That is HUGE HUGE savings. Ace Hardware has a big selection of them too.
Trappeur
I guess I should have been more specific as to what is actually causing me the challenge and that is finding those matte black lids!! I can source the jars locally (hopefully finding the same smooth surface) but it's the lids that are eluding me. Good idea on going to their website----I'll check it out. Their Halloween label is gorgeous!

I was in a little shop in rural Texas yesterday and saw these adorable candles--I'm in love with the entire look of this product!! Can someone tell me where to find this type of jar (these are smooth sided Kerr jars but they don't have to be a brand name) and these awesome lids? This is exactly what I've been looking for for my line of candles. Thanks for any info you can provide
Does Vanilla Bean from WSP smell like vanilla to you?

Well in order to avoid shipping charges (I only needed to spend an additional $1.70 ) I also ordered up some Autumn Lodge. Have you tried that one?
I'll be pouring into the new lovely amber mason jars with 6006. I'm testing my wick in that container this evening.
