Belinda to me WSP VBN is totally worth it. I even smell the candle after it's blown out, it lingers.

Whos MCC ? It's just such a beautiful fragrance imo.

I just noticed that WSP doesn't charge for shipping over $25 in your basket but they charge a handling fee.  I signed up on their site so I can earn coupons so hopefully that will make it less costly to order from them.  Any tips or secrets here?

Just wondering if you purchase most of your FO's from WSP?  Their prices are quite a bit higher than I'm used to paying but I'll splurge if I can use less and get more ROI.

  3. I just think that letting those little buggers sit there for a while and settle in makes for a better candle.  After all you're taking 2 different materials (wax and FO) and bringing them together--always good to let them get to know each other a bit.  I don't have a hard and fast rule on the 2 weeks but it has just become habit.  I do see changes within those 2 weeks i.e. CT that just needs time to evolve.  Patience truly is a candle crafting virtue

I bought some 6006 and 4625 wax for tarts. I wanted to test them to see how they would do, right out of the bag I could tell I wouldn't be happy with the results, but I melted a little of each, and poured them. After sitting for 24 hours I  tested them out, I was right The 6006 with less then 1% FO had a good hot and cold throw, but its so soft. feels like butter plus I hate the oily texture it has.  However the 4625 was like a brick, and barely had a cold throw, with no hot throw (that could be fixed by increasing the FO maybe).

So I wonder if I could mix the 2 for a better result, or mix the 4625 with something else. Not sure if that would be a waste of time, or money. I was going to get the soy tart wax, but I don't really like the feeling of soy tarts.

make your life easier and try the Ky parasoy tart and votive blend from RE---you won't look back.

Well, don't get your hopes up....because this is very disturbing....My gosh the scent from the bottle is so utterly beautiful but in 464 with a 4 week cure...I didn't get anything.   It must be my wax...  This is the 3'rd oil from Oregon that doesn't throw for me.  I had such high hopes for me...so now I'm really bummed.  Can't remember what wax you use Diasymay?   It sure is a beautiful scent.  Why don't you still try it, if you are using a different wax?

I'm going to start experimenting with some other wax like a paraffin and a palm that I got a sample from Candybee.....I'm so sorry to disappoint everyone.  But you all are not as disappointed as I am......:(

Thank you so much for the review!  I use 6096 but I can't afford to waste time or $$ with scents that don't do their job.  Sorry it didn't work out :-((

  6. My favorite fo from FC is Eucalyptus and Spearmint--it is divine and I love it more every time I use it.  It's a great seller in my 6006 candles and my Ky melts.

#2 seller is Tobacco and Caramel

    #3 is Karma.

All are fabulous in their own right.  Just sayin'

As I’ll be going to FC to pick up wax in a few weeks I thought I should check out their selection of FOs and save on shipping. Less shipping means more money for oils. So I made list of the FOs I might want to try. I thought I would ask the board if any of you have experience with any of these. I’ll be putting them in candles of 6006 wax. If you have recommendations for FC FOs I would love to read them.

I just made some melts with the Tarocco Orange last weekend and that is a FANTASTIC scent!!!  Very fresh and true orange scent--love it.  The Lemon Lavender is a different story.  When I went to my candle making journal and found the entry for a test candle with that scent all I wrote was "this stinks-don't buy this again".  There you have it.  I'm glad I keep notes and reviews on scents or I'd forget which ones are stinkers.  :lipsrsealed2:

IMO, JustScent has less than stellar oils.

I have ordered from JS a few times and haven't experienced any glaring problems yet.  I don't want to have to find out for myself so could you please elaborate as to why you think their oils are "less than stellar"?  Thanks!!

I  want to start making vandlesso bought 5 pds of 6006 and sample wicks Premier and Cd

Poured into  2   8 oz tins

Used 10 oz of wax so each had 5 oz filled to marked rim of tin

Added 1 oz of Orange Spice from Flaming to the 10 oz.

I also put in 1/4 tsp vybar

Melted to 180 added FO and poured

Let set 4 days and tested one today with CD 18

very nice burn but No Hot Trow and the cold throw very light.

    What am I doing wrong.

i did the same with another scent Lavender Sandlewood but did NOT put in vybar and it has a light cold throw scent but have not yet used a wick.

I use 6006 but I don't add anything to it so I can't speak to that part of your recipe.

That seems to be a very large wick for that size container.  I use a CD 10 in the 8 oz tins when I make them for tester candles for my customer and that burns great.

Do you all always follow your curing time rules? Especially during the holidays when things get backed up?

I know a candle company who attaches a "do not burn until certain date" notice on their candles

I have my customer "trained" to place orders with me before she runs out so that I'm not rushing to get them poured.  I find that when that happens I feel VERY stressed and I don't enjoy the process near as much.  She knows that I like to have a 2 1/2 week notice for making her orders and she thinks that's just fine-she actually respects the process now that she knows how it works on my side of things.    We are now in the process of determining a base permanent scent list that I can make and store inventory for and then add scents for seasonal/holiday add ons.

    Hi Daisymay,

Yes I did, and no luck....but....I did put up another post of a marshmallow I got from TT from Oregon Trails and need to burn it tonight as I made a sample....This marshmallow is an EXACT DUPE of McCalls I swear..Look under fragrances section where I put up that post.   I will burn the candle in a couple hours.  It's probably a month cured......I just have been so busy and have not burned quite a  few things I have made but I will post my findings.....

Trappeur, I have the Marshmallows by the Campfire in my cart from Oregon Trails and am waiting breathlessly for your review before I purchase!!  :whistling:

two weeks for wax that's only 30% soy?

I like to give my candles the time they need to figure out who they are and most of them can accomplish that in 2 weeks.  :)  When I deliver an order to my specialty market customer I feel confident that the candles look and smell their best and they will only improve from there.

I have been trying/testing 6006, and using the pour with no wick testing procedure.  So I poured a 2.5" glass container, 6% linen scent, no dye and a RRD34 wick. Started out good...good HT, nice quiet flame...but after 3 hrs it seemed to be tunneling.  So the next day I pulled out the 34 and replaced it with an RRD47.  It.s burning real  nice but seems to be following the "tunnel" of the first burn of the RRD34.  Should I start this test over?  I know they say soy has a memory...not sure if 6006 has a memory also?  Thanks for any input.

I use 6006 but I use CD wicks; from what you're saying it seems that your wick is just too small or maybe it's just not the right type of wick.  Have you tried the CD's?

    Hello everyone,

So I finally reordered from Community Candle so I could add Luxe Linen to my cart this time, I forgot last time. It is a nice scent and now I see Candle Science has a Luxe Linen so I will have to order some to compare. But I have to say I ordered 8 oz of Coffee and Doughnuts and I cannot wait to put that in wax today. I love coffee scents and bakery scents and this is a great mix.

I also reordered Tuscan Lemon Blossom,  along with Orange Peel and Cinnamon, Kudzu and Pineapple Coconut.

    Have a great day,

    Karen in MA

So, after reading this post I ordered some FO's from Community; they are my supplier for my 11 oz tumblers so I figured, what's the harm in ordering a few FO's from them to take for a spin?  Well, OOB, the Coffee and Doughnuts is AMAZING!!!!  I don't usually like bakery scents but this is intoxicating.  It's not sweet---it's perfect.  I can't wait to put in in some wax!!  I also ordered: (these reviews are all OOB):

1.) Tuscan Lemon Blossom--also fabulous.  A warm, lemony scent that doesn't smell like candy-more layered and complex than just a simple lemon.

2.) Cucumber Sea Salt--a bit like Cucumber and Green Tea but somehow lighter and fresher.  Fantastic.

3.) Sage and Citrus-the jury (me) is out on this one.  Leans a bit toward "soapy" but a nice, clean scent.  I'll see how it does in wax.

No more ordering of the FO's!!!  Who am I kidding????!!!!  :laugh2:

Someone mentioned the problem of keeping popsicle sticks centered, which is a problem I also have, and that got me thinking. I already had an idea in my head but the problem was what to build it out of. The device below is made from foam board, it may not be ideal but it was all I could think of that was thick enough and that I could cut a curve in, if some crafty person has a better idea I would love to hear it. This one isn’t pretty, but the razor knife I used was dull and a little rusty. It works well, if you bump the popsicle stick it will spin, but the hole stays in the center, and the wick doesn’t move. The wick will need to be clipped with something, a hair clip, cloths pin, or some other clip. I’ll probably cut my wick shorter and use a small binder clip, but something lightweight would be better.

That was my thread regarding keeping the wick centered when cooling.  This is a cool idea!  I use little silver hair clips to hold my wick in place.  I'm going to think about your contraption and see how I can use it.  Thanks!
