Yes, you have been a big help with my Campfire scent combo dilemma!  

I'm making melts this weekend with a bunch of my samples and scents that I have multiples of.  I will conquer the stash!!!!  BTW, I'm a former quilter so I'm a stashaholic from good training 😊

The Sandalwood and Suede is one scent so that makes it easy!  I thought that scent with the Smoked Vanilla sounded great too.  OOB next to each other it's nice with the hint of smoke.  I'm thinking this vanilla might be the answer to my Campfire dilemma also!!

Hi everyone! I've been posting some questions on the site but here's my official hello!

 My husband and I moved to east Texas a year and a half ago after living in the Austin area. We love the beautiful lakes and mature trees in this part of Texas.

I've been making candles since 2013 and I love it!  I've settled on a blend of 6006 and Calumet 5961 (a 70% paraffin/ 30% soy blend); the 5961 creates a candle that isn't as white as strait 6006 and looks more like soy.

I'm so thankful to have found this site because it has moved me along much more quickly in my craft because I feel like I'm part of a big team now!  I admit I've had to start a notebook with all the great scent suggestions and I refer to it frequently.  I'm trying not to buy them all but...............

When I'm not making fabulous candles on the weekends I'm a pharmaceutical sales representative and my husband is a merchant mariner.  He goes to work for 75 days at a stretch then he's home for 75.  Those 75 days out would be even more horrible for me if I didn't have my little candle business.  I throw myself into working with new scents and making inventory for my one customer-a specialty food and wine market.  This works out well for me as I have little free time during the week after working, working out and taking care of everything when my husband is gone at sea.  

I look forward to learning more from everyone.  You are a wealth of information and a fantastic source of support.  Thank you!

I just got my order from FC and it included Smoked Vanilla as well as Sandalwood and Suede.  OOB these are terrific scents.  Anyone have experience with the smoked vanilla?  Any good blends with this?  I'm working on some scents for Father's Day candles for my customer so something more on the manly side would be helpful.  Thanks!

I would do 2 parts cedar to 1 part cinnamon broom to 1 part campfire. My thoughts are to mellow the cinnamon and campfire and bring out the wood notes in the cedar.

 

Personally I would not stop there and add a drop or two of either a good pine or balsam, maybe CS Frazier Fir or Fillmore's Christmas Tree (balsam type). That should enhance the wood notes by giving it a bit of camphor from the pine/balsam notes. Or maybe I'd enhance the wood with some nice eucalyptus notes from CS Mistletoe instead.  Awww.... so many possibilities!

This is 6006 wax, 11 oz tumbler, Salty Sea Air FO from RE @ 8%.  I can easily reduce the FO to 7% on this scent.  

This is my 3rd, 3 hour burn with a CD 8 wick.  Is this too much hang up after this many burns?  The flame is great and the HT is right on.  I'm afraid a CD 10 would create a flame that is too large.  

I'd appreciate any feedback on how this looks and if a wick up to 10 is necessary.  Thanks!

I use 6006 but I don't use any coloring.  I heat to 185 then pour at 165.  I have never had any bubbles so I'm wondering if it's the color flakes?

I absolutely love the Wood Sage and Sea Salt and it actually does well in 6006 for me.  I used 7% since these type of scents are usually soft--perfect HT and CT.

The Shampure dupe is nice.  Great HT and CT in 6006; may need to wick up one.

I used both of these scents for a Spa Series for Mother's Day 🌿

I used Eco wicks in my 6006 initially but I quickly converted to CD wicks after much reading and research that said that Eco wicks are better suited for straight soy.  I can only speak from my experience ☺️

I've been reading all of the replies to this topic and I'm finally going to add my 2 cents (or scents?!)  I can totally relate to LittleMissSunshine regarding her frustration.  I think I can equate candle crafting to learning how to play golf.  Seriously.  You think you have a decent swing one day and the next you turn into a shankapotomous.  I truly believe that with either you never become the master of the game that you want to be BUT you learn how to adjust and make corrections to get back "in the swing".  Neither of these hobbies will stand for you becoming cocky.  I've learned in both instances that I need to put my big girl pants on and do the work to improve and I also laugh along the way.  Keep it in perspective..............life is grand 

Thank you Candybee--I'm going to try this out next weekend when I'm back in the kitchen candle factory.  Darn work always gets in the way   Is it crazy that I dream about making candles and trying out new scents?!  I'm thinking you'll say no..............

I sure will try that---I appreciate the suggestions!  What percentage would you recommend of each scent?  The Campfire is pretty pungent so I know that will be lower on the %

I did a whiff test on FC Campfire today next to a cedar fo I have; just oob it smells fantastic.  I'll give that one a whirl.

I agree about the Christmas Hearth--that's a staple in my fall/winter lineup.

It's felt and stick on velcro tabs.  I find these completely stop wet spots and are a huge help in the winter.  

Ha-yes!!  That helps a lot!  Even when I'm not in my kitchen "candle factory" I'm thinking of my next awesome scent to tackle and master.  I'm now really trying to stop buying new fragrance oils but like most of you,  that "ain't" going to happen  :-0  

Great-thanks for the replies!!  Call me crazy but I have designed a candle cocoon that I wrap around my candles as they cool.  Sometimes I wrap it a bit lower on the tumbler and that's when I see the shrinkage.  Since I work with small batches this process works for me.  Obviously if I were pouring huge batches this would be crazy to try to do. 

Thank you for sharing this information Candybee.  When you are blending the drops what do you mix them in?  

Between work and working out and taking care of the day to day chores my week days get pretty crammed.  I have started planning more during the week so that my weekend time for candle crafting is more organized and productive.  I know which scents I'm going to pour whether it's for an order or for a new scent test candle.  Busy people get stuff done!!
