  1. @paintguru Many lines print the nt weight on the bottom warning label as well as their city, state.. website, etc. Especially those using an unlabeled specialty container. Some put the weight on the dust cover, others on the lid... . just some options for you.
  2. It's shipped from a 3PL fulfilment center.
  3. Candles and Supplies, which I pay a small fortune to ship cross country. So, for me, the Lab & Co wax is about 10% less expensive to use.
  4. Today I Iearned that Patchouli is part of the mint family! This fragrance house website has some interesting, informative posts about fragrances ---passing it on for anyone else that geeks out over fragrance info, history and trends. https://www.cplaromas.com/fragrance-trends/perfumers-treasure-trove-patchouli/
  5. lol it seems woodenwick isn't exactly a fan favorite on here. I probably shouldn't talk about how well my tests are going with this wax
  6. If you squint and look really closely you can see Jimmy Durante in that mushroom. It's uncanny.
  7. Ha! I'm not surprised woodenwick's answer to any wicking question is wood, wood or wood. Then again, if any coco wax supplier was able to provide useful coconut wicking info beyond the most general recommendations I wouldn't still be testing every friggin wick in various coconut waxes a year later. If I worked on a cocowax help line and someone asked me what the best wick for cocowax wax I'd just say " a small wick "
  8. No kit, just a 5lb bag of wax. It really doesn't look, smell or feel like coco83. This wax is less greasy/sticky feeling than coco83, whiter, softer and odorless. I am currently working my way down wick sizes on my testers- it's proving to a typical coco when it comes to wicking.
  9. If anyone is tempted, Lab & Co is having a sale: Today only-20% off sitewide with code MAKERS20 @TallTayl
  10. Looking at your pic, you're not that far with the melt pool diameter at the 3rd hour. I'd want about 1/4" of wax left on the sides after burn 1 on such a deep jar..but the ecos are just bad for that wax. If I was wick testing that jar with that wax I'd pour 5 testers with these wicks: CD7, CD8, HTP 83, HTP 93, LX 16, LX18 just to give you an idea of the size range.
  11. I'd ditch the eco wicks asap and get some (small): htps, lx and cd wicks. That eco 12 will only make things worse in that wax. In all my coconut wax testing eco wicks have burned way too hot and too deep, discolored the wax, and to add insult to injury, they often throw off an odd burning plastic/chemical smell.
  12. FYI: the wax ships from DIETERICH, IL 62424 not Laguna Beach as I had hoped. However, if you live near IL... (cough cough @TallTayl) 😉
  13. So true. I really bought this as a temporary coco substitute to blend with soy but it's worth considering the true cost of time spent tweaking and repairing candles made with a finicky and inconsistent wax. Yes this is almost double the cost of my usual blend but if it takes less time, needs less FO and produces a superior finished product it may be worth it. But that's a lot of "ifs"... We'll see.
  14. My usual coconut wax has been out of stock so I ordered Lab & Co's fancy "Virgin Coconut Creme" described as a blend of coconut and soy. It's very pretty, soft, pure white and odorless in packaging befitting a wax one might buy from Neiman Marcus with the price go with it. With freight, it cost me $5.40 lb. Poured at 170 degrees into a 9 oz straight jar yesterday- my tester has perfect adhesion, no sinkholes, a smooth flat top and excellent cold throw. So far, it is exactly as described on the Lab & Co. site. Has anyone else given this stuff a try?
  15. I just noticed @Bia that you seem to be using a 9 oz straight jar which are abt 2.75" and really hold in heat. In 3" tumblers I was using a 5/8" single ply wick. So, you'll need a step down or 2 in size from that, I'd guess, depending on what wax you're using.
  16. That wick sure does look too big. The smaller the wood wick, the less debris I got, but I was using coconut wax which burns easily and and can take a small wick.
  17. @bia I think it's just what wood wicks do. Wax darkening and some cast off of debris and char from the burned wood is part of the package with wood wicks.
  18. right? just what I need (as I google "silicon succulents mold")
  19. My previous coco83 batches were also white slabs. This recent shipment was beads.. stinky beads.
  20. @Laura C I started with all coco wax and now use it only in blends. I haven't been happy with any candle I've made that is more than 50% coco wax, nor have I been pleased with any I've bought. And I've bought a lot of them!
  21. smart veteran move 👍especially since easy beads have been out of stock for a while and candles and supplies.
  22. I am not sure about this. Something is different about them. I've been using easybeads for several months and I used to use coco83. I'm in SoCal so buying coco83 is much less $$ for me. However, the texture and appearance of the easybeads had me convinced it was different and/or a modified version of coco83. To test my suspicion, I bought a few lbs of coco83 from CalCandle last month to compare them side by side. The CalCandle coco83 is now in "bead" form - really, it's just a bag of sticky, lumpy wax but it does look a bit more like easy beads now. However, my new coco83 is darker/ more beige than the easy beads and it has a very noticeable and to me a very unpleasant nutty/grease odor that my easy beads do not have. I can smell it even when burning a finished, fragranced candle. I don't recall it being this bad a year ago but this latest batch of coco83 stinks. I won't be buying anymore of it anytime soon.
  23. I have exactly this problem with the 9 oz straight sided jars. The heavier scents are a real challenge for me in these. I call it tiny flame syndrome. They start out great then around burn 3 or 4 the flame shrinks to 1/4". Then it comes back to 1/2" or so. on the next burn.. then small again.. and so on. I need a smallish wick since these straight jars trap heat so well but they seem to get overcome by FO, heat and lack of air in the middle of the jar..
  24. I bought a case of their SHADE vessels. Nice THICK glass. Very luxe and worth the $$. On the lighter colors the paint defects are pretty obvious when the candle is lit. The silver and black were pretty much perfect. Unfortunately they seem to have sold out of almost all the inventory on those. Same day shipping. Goods arrived to me in CA the next day.
