Oh, so the CS one is good ? I should have tossed that in my order yesterday, lol. I placed a small order of samples from there, too ! Thanks for the heads up, I’ll add that next order. I’ll def review my Northwood oils when I get them ! They seem to have a lot of unique scents, so hoping they’re good, fingers crossed !

They currently have both at Swan’s ! I ordered a case of Coconut 83 yesterday & it already shipped ! Super excited to work with it. Anyway, just thought I’d let you guys know, since these two waxes are so hard to find lately. ETA - I put this in the wrong forum, sorry !

Hi guys ! Just curious if any of you have ordered FO’s from Northwood Distributing & what your thoughts are, if so. I placed a small order today, because they have a candy apple scent ( Old Fashioned Candy Apple ) that isn’t a Winter Candy Apple dupe, which is very hard to find, for some reason. With the exception of Old Fashioned Candy Apple ( 4 Oz ) I got all 1 Oz bottles in the following : Tropical Vacation Sugar Banana Pudding Pineapple Sherbet Pumpkin Cider Sea Salt & Coconut Autumn Magic Ice Cream Party They have some really nice sounding scents, it was hard to narrow it down, but I do try to not go completely crazy with a supplier that’s new to me, lol. Especially one that I haven’t seen mentioned much here. I can do OOB reviews & also review them in wax when I receive them / get them poured, if anyone is interested.

You must have gotten into my head because I’ve been ordering lots of pumpkin / fall scents ( in sample sizes ) the past couple of days, lol. I wanted to do a mini update - Key Lime is AMAZING blended with Vanilla Voodoo, omggg... I know that a lot of you here love VV, so figured I would throw that out there. I also blended tangerine dreams, lemon slices, & key lime together ( in equal parts ) & they play together beautifully, too. This key lime, in particular, in amazing in wax & an awesome blender. I want to do it in cotton candy soon ! Cotton Candy Dreams really does have that nice candy store smell & really good throw in IGI 6006. The cocoa butter cashmere is TDF in wax !!! Even much better than OOB. I absolutely, 500% prefer it to VA’s. It’s way more rounded, a much better balance of the notes, IMO. I really wanted to get more of these poured & tested, but I’ve been working lots of midnights in a row lately & I just don’t have the energy for it, but hoping to get more poured tomorrow & the following days. These oils are just great, though ! They are quickly moving to the top of the list of my fave FO suppliers.

That’s a good idea !! I have a batch of coconut apricot wax on the way to me, not sure what I was thinking ? 😂 I’ve been dying to try it, but this is the worst possible time lol

Yes, agreed. I work with that, along with IGI 6006, & my candles have had very melty tops lately, almost looks like fragrance oil seepage, but I know it isn’t that because I used 6% on most, & literally every single candle I’ve made, even from last winter, started looking like that lately, so I chalked it up to the soft wax.

I actually went down to check a bit ago, & sure enough, my package was there ! AHHHH, I LOVE this order !! Here are my OOB impressions so far - Key Lime - spot on ! Just straight up, fresh lime. Super bright, very summery. Can’t wait to blend with coconut ! Actually, I’m thinking of blending with my Pineapple Smoothie ( pretty sure that’s the name ? ) from MMS, which reads very pina Colada to me. I feel like it’ll be great with that. This will also be amazing with vanilla, I think. White Cake - love this ! I remember years ago, ordering a white cake from another place, I think it may have been Indiana candle supply ? But not sure. And it was pure almond. I was so disappointed, I haven’t tried another until now. This is perfect ! To me, it smells more like white cake BATTER, at least OOB. And that’s fine by me, lol. Tangerine Dreams - I can see why this is so raved about on their Insta page ! Very juicy tangerine scent, with something in the background that I can’t quite pinpoint ? I know it has papaya & other things, but it’s not that. Love this though ! Cotton Candy Dreams - I got this because one of the reviews said that it smelled like bubbleliscious to them, not Cotton Candy, to me, it smells like...neither of those, I can kind of make out a bit of Cotton Candy in there ? But I really like it, regardless ! It’s just very sweet, very ‘ pink ‘ if that makes sense. I feel like someone could name it Candy Shop ? It puts me in the mind of Candy / sugar, in a general sense. Lavender - straight up, not too herbal, doesn’t seem to have that medicinal note that a lot of lavenders have. I got this to blend with a few things, & I think it’ll be perfect for that ! Fresh Lemon - this really does smell like a freshly sliced lemon, & I’m not sure if it’s supposed to smell like sugar too, but it does to me ! Really liking this. Fresh Mint & Eucalyptus - smells like it’s supposed to, mint & Eucalyptus ! I got it with the intention of blending with fresh lemon for a refreshing type scent, but I may also try it with the key lime, I feel like that’ll blend together beautifully. With a much smaller ratio of the lime, I feel it could easily take over otherwise, it’s nice & strong. Espresso - oooooooooh, this is absolutely my fave coffee scent so far, even over MMS’s Java Java ! This takes me to Fall immediately ! Very realistic, strong coffee & I can’t recall if there is cinnamon or maybe nutmeg ( or both ? ) in the notes ? But that’s what I’m getting. This is amazingly delicious ! I think it would blend well with chocolate, or with some pumpkin for Fall, but it is also absolute perfection on its own 🥰 Fireside Marshmallow ( Type ) - This, much like their Strawberry Pound Cake, is an identical dupe of the B&BW scent ! I would know, because my daughter is obsessed with that one, lol. Cocoa Butter Cashmere - I have a 1 Oz from VA candle supply & loved it, so I wanted to try it from here. Just like I prefer Midwest’s vanilla waffle cone over JS’s, I absolutely prefer this Cocoa Butter Cashmere to VA’s ! I can’t really explain why ? If I absolutely had to, I would say that it’s softer & more rounded, somehow ? It has that beautiful blast of cocoa butter with cedarwood, vanilla & other notes adding depth & sensuality. I know it has coconut but I can’t really pick that up, I couldn’t in the other version either. I just think that these notes all blend so beautifully together. So, this entire order was a huge win ! Definitely going to be ordering from them a lot in the future !

You know, I was * thisclose* to throwing Cinnamon Buns in this order & didn’t, kinda kicking myself now, lol. But, it’s not like there won’t be many, many orders in the future. I’m glad that isn’t all in my head, with the waffle cones ! My order is actually coming in today, not tomorrow, got that confused with Candle Cocoon, so yay ! I’ll try & do an OOB review later today

I can’t believe how late I am with this, sorry ! 😩🤣 I poured all except the Pink Guava, but I do plan on pouring that one soon, it just doesn’t excite me much, lol. I can honestly say that I love ALL of the ones I poured ! Lemon Sugar Cake is definitely much more appealing to me in wax ! Blueberry Pecan Waffle is just...too good to be true, omg. Strong thrower, too. Vanilla Bean Nectarine still comes off very ‘ orange vanilla ‘ to me, with heavy emphasis on orange, but I am not complaining, it is magical. I like her Vanilla Sugar Waffle Cones even more than Just Scent’s, because I feel this one is much richer. Could be in my head, lol. But it’s luscious. Strawberry Poundcake is just perfect. Exactly like the B&BW version. I never want to be without that one. I ordered another batch of oils to try Sunday night, woke up to a shipping notice yesterday morning, so that was really nice ! I love fast shipping ! My package should be here on Thursday. I ordered 2 Oz bottles of White Cake, Tangerine Passion, Cotton Candy Dreams, Espresso, Fresh Mint & Eucalyptus, Key Lime, & Fresh Lemon. 8 Oz bottles of Marshmallow Fireside & Cocoa Butter Cashmere & a 16 Oz of Lavender. Super excited to get these !

The bubblegum is amazing ! I get good throw from it, too, in my parasoy melts & candles ! I’ve only tried a couple oils from them so far, the cocoa butter cashmere, gummy bears, & butterscotch bourbon. The gummy bears is okay, not a fave. Haven’t tested it yet ( I made them in some melts ) cause they’re just so ‘ meh ‘ to me, lol. I absolutely love the other too, though ! The Cocoa Butter Cashmere is just beautiful & has some great throw, & the Butterscotch Bourbon smells delicious, very heavy on the butterscotch. I was overall very impressed with their oils. They shipped very fast, too.

Can I ask you if the bubblegum is more like bubblelicious or more like Bazooka ? Most places are Bazooka, & while I don’t mind it, I much prefer the Bubblelicious type bubblegum. I do have Bubblegum from VA candle supply & it’s PERFECT, but someone here made a thread not so long ago saying that her first orders from there, the oils were nice & strong, but the second larger order, they were completely different, so I’m still on the hunt for my perfect bubblegum. Thanks !

JS’s Cotton Candy Super Strong has the best throw in candles & melts out of the ones that I’ve tried. Their Blue Cotton Candy also throws GREAT for me ! I use either IGI 6006 or ProBlend 600 ( both container & tart bless ) for reference. Their Cotton Candy Frosting is also good. My absolute fave Cotton Candy, the one that I find the most realistic, is MMS’s Cotton Candy, but while it does have good throw for me, it requires more curing than the others mentioned & it’s not as strong as the Super Strong. It’s my fave in my sugar scrubs too, when I make them. I probably just confused you more than help you, sorry 😩😂 Cotton Candy oils are my FAVE to pour & to burn, so I’ll be paying attention to the other replies along with you, lol.

I’ve literally only tried one so far, so I probably shouldn’t even be answering, lol...but I’m EXTREMELY impressed with it ! I got Vanilla Lace ( Type ) & not only does it smell identical to the original ( which is great for me because I was a huge fan of it & VS discontinued it ) but it throws amazingly !! Def going to try more oils from them in the future. But yeah, if you like VL, you won’t be disappointed in theirs.

Hi guys ! So I’m thinking of giving soy a real try this time. I do love my parasoy & I’ll always use that, but I just want to try & perfect soy. I’m not going to come on here like “ What’s the BEST soy ? “ because I know how subjective that is & how candlemaking wildly varies for each of us. But I am curious what your faves are ? i’n looking for a good container wax & a good wax for melts. I’m looking for what I think everyone looks for in a wax, lol - nice appearance, great hot & cold throw. I’ve tried the coconut soy from Flaming & each time I did, that has been AWFUL ! Worst wax I’ve ever tried & I just don’t have the patience to keep trying, lol. Plus, coconut waxes seem to be out of stock everywhere, all the time. So, straight soy it is ! Thanks guys !

I probably have those same molds ! Little pink silicone molds ? And the same problem. I’ve tried a syringe type thing & that works but my wax starts to cool too fast & that makes it next to impossible, so I just stopped with those particular molds for a bit, but I’m thinking about getting a heat plate to set my pour pitcher on while I do them ? I feel like that should help ? So I would try a heat plate / syringe combo & see if that works.

That’s terrible 😞 I was hoping that it wouldn’t be like that. Hopefully, they stop buying up all of these companies until they can pull it together with the ones that they already have. They’re really ruining it for us 😩

Just curious, if you don’t mind telling me...how long does yours usually take to dry ? Cause my IGI 6006 came in even wetter, no joke 😩 I mean, the corners of the slabs especially, they look almost mushy. I swear I’m cursed lately or something 😂 I’ve been trying to air out the IGI 6006 slabs for about 4 or 5 days now, with a fan, & the slabs are still very moist. I love my paraffin blends, but I’m * thisclose * to switching to soy, & I never had luck with straight soy, but these wet parasoy slabs are REALLY holding me back a lot.

I’m usually the opposite, very into sweet scents, lol...but...oakmoss sounds pretty good to me, actually ! You twisted my arm, btw ! I’m definitely going to give them a try in the near future. I’m always so surprised at my own self for never trying them 😂 I’ve been doing this for over a decade, like how did I just skip CS this whole time 😂 If they don’t throw well in my wax, I make butter scrubs & butter sometimes too, so there will be a use somewhere in there. I shouldn’t really speak for others, but my take on this is that the lack of helping choosing a wick is due to the vessel being dangerous, ya know ? This is by far the most helpful board that I’ve been on over the years. I think that people just feel like they would be partially responsible if this caused a fire, if they helped you wick a bread bowl. I get that it probably came off a bit harsh, but try to look at it as a tough love kind of thing. None of us want to see you have to deal with a fire, whether it’s at your home ( if this is for personal use ) or a customer’s ( if you plan on selling ). Dangerous candle making practices are unfortunately very trendy these days, & misinformation is spreading like wildfire. Everyone here just wants you & your customers ( if you’re a business owner ) to be safe, that’s all this is.

I’ve never tried that one, but do you happen to have a caramel & a vanilla ? I recently blended CC’s Ooey Gooey Caramel Goodness with Daystar’s Ultimate Vanilla & it came out very caramel latte l- like to me ?

Omg, those gemstones & dried petals. All of the rage all over social media ! I love watching other candlemakers do their thing, so I was on TikTok for a bit, & I finally deleted the app. Ever go on the candle making side of there ? Soooo many of them put those dried flowers on the top, & I mean some of them almost cover the entire tops of their candles with it ! And one lady put these huge crystals on hers, kind of embedded into the wax, but right by the wicks. Yes, they were stunning, but omg. And I made a dumb mistake when I first started years ago ( mine was entire too much fo, I almost started a fire in my house ) but I learned a big lesson from it. When people would try to tell some of the people that these things were dangerous, they would just brush them off, & act like they were crazy. Anyway, sorry to go off the rails, lol. It’s just...this is why I love this board so much. You guys are about safety first, as it should be. OP, please be very careful if you do decide to make this. You might just be doing it for personal use but please be super careful regardless & if you do burn this, please be right beside it. If I wasn’t right by mine when it almost caught on fire, I could have burned my house down or even worse, caused a lot of harm ( or worse ) to my children, my pets, & myself.

Ya know, I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, lol...I’ve never tried CandleScience ! It was always high on my list of suppliers to try, but when it comes time to order, they must just skip my mind, not sure how. I was actually going to order, finally, when I ordered my last batch of supplies, but then I read on the fragrance board that they changed a lot of their fo’s & it seems that a lot of people were displeased by the changes, so that pushed them back out of my mind. I may still give them a try for supplies sometime, though ! Didn’t intentionally leave them out of my post, but I just can’t personally speak for CS yet. Do you have any recommendations for a future order ?
