Ugh! or Why I don't like Crunchy People
CBeardly replied to CBeardly's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
@glasllyn Do you get that ill when burning scented candles, esp. ones that you did not make? Perhaps if you do or even if you don't maybe you shouldn't be working with FOs at all since they make you so sick. I'm not saying that to be snarky. I don't think anyone should unnecessarily risk his or her health. I love the environment as much as anyone but I also understand that nothing is chemical free. That being said, maybe we should stop using vanillin too. Most people aren't chemists & would still have no idea what was in their FOs if it was written on the bottle. It would scare them even more. Dihydrogen monoxide sounds terrifying to some people. Also, it is proprietary information that companies don't want to share. I don't want to hurt aquatic animals or any animals. (I'm a vegetarian for Pete's sake. My meat & potatoes husband & I get along fine, thanks.)- 54 replies

@Shari Thank you!

@Shari How long does it usually take for them to respond?

Have you been in a wax "appreciation" type of group? I accidentally joined one on FB once, I thought it was about making wax, but it was about melting & enjoying wax. I learned an awful lot. Some people won't touch any wax with glitter or embellishments & some people won't touch it if it doesn't have anything "special" added to it. Wax people can be downright nutty.

There's a huge difference between making wax products with the concentrated FOs & burning a candle.- 54 replies

For those who use the oval shaped portion cups; how do you display them? I like the look but I'm not sure how I'd display them at a show.

I was doing a search about wax stuff & this nonsense came up. I don't like fear mongering. I don't like it one bit. https://wellnessmama.com/22656/dont-use-scented-candles/- 54 replies

I think you're confusing weird with awesome.

@TallTayl Seriously. I have several fragrances that are skin safe but only at percentages well below what I would normally use if I didn't know any better.
-
Do you have a link? I've never heard of Dazzle Dust.

I'm using them for oth soap & wax. I'll request the IFRA info to be safe. I wish they'd have it posted already. Oh, well.

Thanks @kandlekrazy, I ordered a mold off of etsy a few days days ago. They're about the size of regular strawberries, too perfect to look real but that's okay. I didn't want to fool with embeds, that's why I was looking for a larger sized mold, but they'll have to do.

@Sponiebr I understand. I have a long list of things I want to try but I keep not doing them for one reason or another. I'm my own worst enemy though. "I need this ingredient or that thing before I can finish this project". I order it & before it even gets here I've added something else to my never ending list of things to do & of course I need supplies for that project too... Ugh. It's a sickness.

I just saw your post. I've been thinking about how to make silicone molds, probably not a strawberry though. Thanks for sharing the video. Have you tried to make a mold yet?

I've never used FOs from Peak before & didn't realize they don't provide IFRA info. I didn't pay attention when ordering, obv. Do you go by their guidelines they have posted or do you request the IFRA sheet? Thanks!

I do agree that looks like an awful lot of work. I'm curious to learn how to make things for special occasions or special gifts... maybe. I'm far too lazy to imagine doing all that detail work for an entire loaf.

Has anyone tried either the soap dough or soapy clay recipe? Or both? I'm thinking of trying one but I can't decide which one.

How much do you believe scent reviews ?
CBeardly replied to Incendia's topic in Fragrance Discussion
I wish there was a way to block the "I got this product for free/at a discount in exchange for my honest review" reviews. Those are the ones that always have the maximum number of 5 star reviews on Amazon. I avoid those like the plague. I think multiple places don't post negative reviews or reviews they don't like. I've posted a less than 5 star review on one site & it's no where to be seen. Another place I'm pretty sure I did post a 5 star, but I said it smelled differently from the name & it didn't get posted. -
Hi, does anyone have a suggestion for labels to use on mini nail polish bottles? Thanks!
-
I know which ones you're talking about @Moonstar. They are pretty small. I'm looking for something the size of an average bar of soap. I've scoured the internet, at least to my abilities, but I haven't been able to find such a thing. Thanks though!

Hi, does anyone know where to find a strawberry shaped soap mold, preferably with multiple cavities, or even a silicone imprint mat? I have some tiny ones about the size of my thumb, but I need some that are soap sized if I can find them. Thanks!

Would powdered egg yolks work or are fresh eggs really best?

I will have to try out Fruit Slices & Green Apple from Peak's the next time I order from them. I'll try the pear too. I've been looking for one. Thanks!
