  1. Thank you @Trappeur! I really appreciate the detailed instructions. :-) Sorry for the lateness of the reply! Andrea
  2. Does it take a long time to make the little Christmas trees? I have never done a multi color mold before. I presume you pour or "paint" a little into the mold (the red part) and then pour the green once it is set. Is that how you make them?
  3. We make both colored and white candles, and find that the sell about evenly. The biggest selling point for us is scent, especially when we sell at events (rather than online sales). Scent is definitely king, and at the event we just participated in Saturday, our brand new fragrance that we love (which we kept white) sold just as many as our previous best seller, which is a very pretty teal/blue.
  4. We just got this new one called Apple and Clover from Candlewic. It smells amazing, just like a freshly picked apple! It's like you can smell the apple and also the apple skin.
  5. Do you have to whip the wax and is there a special kind of wax you use? I have never done decorative wax before and was reading about it, but it seems daunting! Your sweetheart roses are gorgeous!
  6. Thanks so much for your responses, everyone! I think I get overwhelmed because we keep expanding all our social media platforms. I think scaling back might be a good idea, as was suggested by a few of you. Facebook and Twitter are our two biggest social media sites, so keeping those would definitely be important. I would love to be able to have a brick and mortar, but we are in an area that wouldn't be conducive to that. Again, thank you all, I will take your suggestions to heart!
  7. Hi All, Our candle business has been up and running for 7 months. We do pretty well at craft fairs and the like and have sold a little online, but online is definitely slower than we would like it to be. We have our website www.wishuponacandle.com, etsy, and Facebook where we sell, and we also have a presence on Instagram, Tumbler, Twitter, StumbleUpon and Pinterest. I recently learned you can sell on Instagram as well. Does anyone else here sell on multiple sites and if so, what have been your experiences? Is it worth the work maintaining all those separate sites? Thanks!
  8. I use soy and add the fragrance oil between 140 and 150 and stir really well for about two minutes. I think as long as it is hot enough to incorporate the oil it should be fine.
  9. Hello everyone! My name is Andrea, and I live in Southern Maryland (I know it sounds strange, but it's like a whole other country!). I'm 37 and I've been making soy candles for about 8 months. My friend Melissa and I decided to start making candles last April. We were talking about needing to earn some extra income, so Melissa and I decided that making wish candles would a great way to earn a little money and put a little positivity into the world. The longer version of that story is on our blog :-) http://www.wishuponacandle.com/#!How-it-all-started/cum0/1 In addition to candle making I work as a freelance writer and actor. I'm really looking forward to chatting with you all as well as getting and giving feedback about the craft!
