  1. I use toilet paper too. Got that idea from Sliver a long time ago. I have about 12 pour pots but...I have probably 100 different scents too. I pour what is left of my parasoy into the metal tart molds. I melt them myself or give to my daughter and a couple of close friends.
  2. I used to pour Woodlands from SC and then found it from another supplier who has since gone OOB. It was really strong in my parasoy at 8%. One of my best friend's...her daughter loved to burn this scent.
  3. One of my best friends from high school lives in Chandler, AZ. Hell...she moved there with first hubby...they divorced and she is remarried. She's bragged it up so much that several years ago her oldest son and his wife (who used to be my son's girlfriend when they were young) that they moved there too. I'll take the weather there over PA's weather ANY day.
  4. Like 8 Gran-ones I have used both the reduced and regular priced from SC and couldn't tell the difference. Then I found Interlude from AH/RE and had one of my best friends burn a candle to compare...since she always buoght the candles I made using Angel from SC. She said she couldn't tell the difference. JMO but I had tried the one from BCN a long time ago and while it threw okay...it wasn't as strong. That was back when I used straight paraffin...now I use parasoy.
  5. Yikes. I thought they were too expensive before. $25. for the medium...that's ridiculous for candles that burn poorly and have little throw.

    M&P question

It's been about 2 years since I made any CP soap. But I always used micas and mixed it with a little bit of glycerin. I usually used liquid dye for M&P that I bought at NG but if I didn't have the liquid color that I wanted, I did use micas. I think a lot of CP soapers use micas. My first batch came from a kit I bought from a lady in GA and she suggested if I wanted to color my soaps to use micas. Hopefully, more soapers will post and be able to help both of you more than I can.
  7. $27.00 at Target...WOW. I wouldn't pay 27 cents for those candles. IMO the flame is way too high and burning too hot. The only thing that impressed me in those pictures was the pack of Marlboros and lighter on the table. lol
  8. OMG Barbara...what gorgeous soap...as always!!! I loved watching the videos. That hanger method idea is fantastic. If I EVER get back to CP soaping I will have to try it. Someone mentioned your accent...I hardly detected it. I WAS going to say that living in AL, your southern accent isn't anywhere close to all of my cousins who live in TN and northern GA. The first time I saw them I couldn't understand some of what they were saying...and then I tried to teach them how to say Daddy like I do. That was a hoot...but they finally WERE able to say it.
  9. I used to pour in the 9 oz. hex jars with the lug. I DO think they look nicer but the only drawback for me was...people at shows opening them and not putting the lid back on tight. I would have to check every so often to make sure it was on right. People have a tendency to pick up jars by the lid...especially when you have them displayed tight together on your shelves. I didn't want to hear "whoops-the lid wasn't on tight and it fell". But...I have found even in a more controlled showing...like my Christmas open house here in my home...some people don't put ANY of the lids back on right. I use Fillmore's Madison jars now with the fitment in the silver lid. And I also use the shouldered jelly jars with the antique pewter CT lids.
  10. Usually I don't wash them. But I did buy one style of glassware from C&S about 7 or 8 years ago and it had that slippery/oily film on it. I use the glue pot and my wicks would NOT stick to the glass. So...I had to wash those jars. But...so far all of the glassware from Fillmore that I have used, no oily film and the wicks stick right away. I DO wipe the inside and outside of the jars with a cloth because of dust particles and cardboard dust in them.
  11. That looks really nice megandgarr. Heck, you could make something for each season and each holiday. July 4th would look really neat with some red and white striped letters and maybe some could be blue with white stars. Maybe find a wooden flag and put it between the words somewhere. For Easter you could put a bunny between Happy and Easter. All kinds of neat things you could make. I used to love doing wooden crafty things...and a lot of other more craft stuff. Now I am addicted to my sewing machine.
  12. I use my turkey roaster when I am melting my container wax. But I have had my presto for at least 10 years and it's not peeling at all. I have used it for the wax dipped bears...and when I sold those I did sell a LOT of them. My presto's main use is for pouring votives and tarts. The inside still looks brand new. When I dip out the wax I use an extra large heavy metal cup...looks like a measuring cup but it's not...can't remember now where I bought it years ago. Anyway...I never let the wax get so low that I am scraping the bottom of the presto. I melt a lot more wax than I am going to use and after pouring let it cool and put the lid on it. Then it's ready to go for the next batch of votives or tarts.
  13. I am fairly new at quilting but am a member of a quilting board. Posters there have done this. I'm assuming that you will be making blocks and then putting some kind of borders around them. I'm also new at doing appliques on quilts. Not sure if you cut out a picture if it woud be possible to attach to the block with fusible and then do applique stitching around the picture...like if it's Mickey Mouse or whatever. You would probably need a stabilizer since the T-shirt fabric could stretch when you are sewing around the edges. Sounds like a great idea though. I'm sure you will come up with something. Good luck with it!
  14. LOVE the scrub label. I love the orange candle label too...but you are right, the lettering needs to be lighter. The one in the middle...JMO but it really doesn't stand out. Maybe it's because it's an empty jar and with colored wax it would pop.
  15. You can melt the wax out of those containers and measure out the "rest" of the fragrance oil and pour them again. That's what I would do. I melt wax in either a roaster or presto and then add to my pour pot that is sitting on my digital scale. I have the fragrance oil already weighed for the amount of wax. I used 8% fragrance oil in my parasoy container wax.
  16. In case you don't know this...Vickey from KY works with Amy at AH....not exactly sure what the relationship is but Vickey posts on facebook about it. You could probably catch Vickey on there and ask her...if you are a member of facebook. Otherwise maybe email or call AH and ask. I never used that wax from her so can't help.
  17. I KNOW what you mean. The post office in my town is a nightmare. For the most part the emplyees at the window/desk are nice but...if you have a problem and have to see the guy in charge...he is a bastard. I was waiting for a delivery of fragrance oils that I needed right away from a supplier and it didn't come but...got notice that it was delivered. Went to the post office and had to talk to him. He said...it couldn't have happened. He called the mail carrier and she specifically remembered putting it in OUR mailbox. I said...well it was NOT there. Then he proceeds to ask me if I had checked the rest of the mailboxes...we live on a private road so mailboxes are on a cul de sac at the entrance. I said no...but I will check. He then said...NO...YOU CAN'T DO THAT. I'm thinking what an idiot...he just asked me if I HAD checked them but now says I can't do it. Long story short...mail was delivered that day and guess what was in our mailbox? Yet the carrier specifically remembered already putting it in our mailbox. LOL Had to mail out the invitations to my Christmas Open House and was going by a really small town post office. Went in and bought stamps and the lady was as sweet as pie. I told her...from now on when I have anything I have to do at a post office...I will come here. She said, thank you.
  18. Merriam Webster online dictionary says PLOP is a word and gives the definition. I won't c/p all of the info or go into details. lol
  19. Those are adorable...love them. But I have a question. What size votive container do you burn them in? I've used embeds in jar candles but never votives.
  20. WOW...those are awesome. I started a big scrapbook for my husband about 10 years ago...and like everything else I do I never finished it. I DID give him what I had started though...lol. And I used to do a lot of rubber stamping too. Right now those things are way on the back burner because I have found other interests besides candles and soap etc. But...I really do think that people who are into scrapbooking would love those since they are unique and not availble anywhere else. You better hurry and trademark those or everyone will be copying you. LOL
  21. Beautiful quilt. Fabrics are great and like others said that red really does make it pop. I'm sure all of the quilt shop customers had nothing but great remarks about it.
  22. Those look great. I love the brown with white dots. I should try making a few for myself. Some of us don't wash our hair every day...my hair is so dry from all of the processing (color and perms). I looked everywhere for a shower cap...none of the drugstores around here sell them anymore. Check Target and Walmart...none. Someone took an Avon book to where my daughter works and she found one in there and bought it for me. I really appreciated it but...I like yours a LOT better.
  23. Looks like it HAD to be an air pocket. That happened to me one time using a jelly jar. It's been years ago and I don't remember the wick or size that I used but I DO remember the candle was white. I lit the candle and within minutes it tunneled straight down the middle. I had poured in the regulary jelly jars MANY times and never had it happen before. Now I use the shouldered jelly jars from Fillmore and haven't had it happen. When I was using the Perfect Blend from KY...after it changed to New Perfect Blend I had to use my heat gun because I would get air pockets close to the top. I tried every hint that Vic gave me and nothing helped. That's when I switched to CBL130 from Candlewic and didn't have a problem with any air pockets with this wax.
  24. I used to make these and just called them Pouffy Soaps. I sold quite a lot of them. My X DIL has a hair salon and they sold well in her shop. They are very easy to make but honestly, I got tired of making them. lol
  25. I don't really know anything about either but...I do want to say that Meridith makes the BEST soaps. Great lather and the scent lingers on your skin even though it's a wash off product. Oh...and they are so pretty too.
