  1. I bought mine from Millcreek...as Carol said...the price isn't bad for 100. I wasn't sure I wanted to use them so of course I bought 100. LOL I was only making tarts for special orders but have decided to start making them in the clamshells and start selling them again...NOT just special orders.
  2. Those look great. Did you use a fragrance or decide not to use any for your first attempt. I like them both but I love the pattern on the round pillars.
  3. That is just awful. I sure hope that poor 14 year old boy does survive but it doesn't sound good. With all of the warnings at the link that Luminous posted...I don't think I would even want to buy one of these things. Hell...when my hubby decides to use charcoal instead of the gas grill...and the damn coals take forever to get hot...he squirts more fluid on them and I keep telling him NOT to do it. Scares the crap outta me when the flames flare up real high.
  4. That soap is gorgeous. It reminds me of peacock feathers the way it "fans out". You column swirlers are VERY talented.
  5. Gorgeous soap e. I can't wait to see it cut. I LOVE the colors...and of course you always have beautiful swirls.
  6. You took the words outta my mouth. It DOES look real...and I LOVE brownies. Great job!
  7. Janet, Have you spoken with Keith at Fillmore? They are so nice over there. Heidi that is in the office makes you feel right at home. I haven't been there for a while since I slacked off on candles after Christmas. But I will have to get over there and pick up jars at the end of summer. I don't use the jars that you are talking about so I don't have a clue.
  8. I just have to agree about Fillmore Container. Keith and his staff go above and beyond. No matter what size of order...they will load it in your vehicle for you. Really nice warehouse and showroom area. I haven't been there for a while because I've been kind of lazy with my candle business. But when I get back in my shop and start pouring all of the fun of it comes back. I definitely will be making a trip over there late summer because I am out of the Madison jars. I'll have to look around on their website..maybe there is something else I might like to replace the shouldered jelly jars. I was pouring all of my food and bakery scents in those...everything else in the Madisons.
  9. The best peach IMO is no longer with us...lol. I finally found it at A Garden Eastward...and then she went OOB. I could have cried because she had several scents that customers loved. One of them I can buy at Sweetcakes but it is a lot more expensive. I can't GIVE Coconut Cream Pie away. But I did like KY's. It was really strong for me in her Perfect Blend. But...now that wax is gone too. I've always poured Sugar Cookie from NG. Good to know that Filllmore has a good one since I pick up my jars there. I'll have to give it a try. I LOVE the Pumpkin Pie from The Candlemaker's Store. It smells and throw just like Missy's did. I don't know if it is soap safe though. When I made some pumpkin CP soap I used Whipped Pumpkin (I think that is the name) from Candlewic. I gave up on a good Cotton Candy for candles. I couldn't get any of them to throw well.

    fragrance gels

Thanks Sharon. I see in you other post you had a link but I didn't click on it. lol So...it's poured into the bottle...and then you pour it into your warmer. Interesting! About 5 years ago a friend and I went to a little art gallery in our very small town...she was looking for a specific picture. I was just looking around and I found these jars of fragranced gel beads...we each bought one. They were not the same kind of beads as the aroma beads. These were like jelly and you poured them in your warmer and they melted into a gel. There was no information on them except the name of the scent and the person's name that made them. I never used mine and only God knows where they got to in this house. I probably couldn't find them if I wanted to...but...I am sure when I'm not looking for them I'll find them. In the mean time good luck with your testing. I think it's a really neat idea.
  11. Natures Garden has a new website April so it's not in the form that it was back then. lol I know you from another board too. You did a butter co op for us. And you gave us a delicious pumpkin cheesecake recipe. Anyway...if you go to their website and down the left column on the main page...click on candle support and it brings up a lot of categories where you can read a TON of information. Glad to see you back...it's been a few years. Maggie...aka Linda M.

    fragrance gels

I am curious. Are you trying to make something similar to those solid air freshener gels like Glade etc?

    fragrance gels

Scented...I did a search because I never heard of this and wondered what carbomer was...lol. Anyway...found this on Southern Soapers website. Maybe that is where you found it... http://southernsoapers.com/tools/pnc/PNC_Definitions.pdf
  14. Since it's a one pour paraffin wax I would back off on the fragrance oil to 1 oz. per lb. of wax. I bought a 25 block of 4627 to mix with soy several years ago but never poured it straight. But I used to be a J50 and J223 user...plus other types of paraffin and never went over 1 oz./lb. I used zinc wicks back then but did switch to HTP when I starting using a higher melt point paraffin with vybar to prevent mottling. Hopefully some others that use 4627 can give you more advice.
  15. I haven't been to their site in years. Now I HAVE to go check it out.
  16. I don't have a solution to your problem because I am a sun worshiper and use very low SPF rating sunscreens. But...my dermotoligist was telling me at my last visit about something they sell in their office. He says it's the best there is and it comes from France. It's somewhere around an SPF60...that must determine the price because he said it is $60. I wanted to tell him to stick it because I would NEVER pay that much for something that I wouldn't use much...if ever. I figure at my age the damage has already been done. lol My mother was a sun worshiper too...from a young teenager till just about a year or so before she died. She never had any type of even benign lesions. I've heard pros and cons about sunscreens. Some people say all of the chemicals in it are bad for you...so I'll believe them. LMAO! Good luck in your quest. I don't go back to my dermotologist till the end of September so wouldn't be able to tell you the name...and...it might not be available in your area. My doctor is Russian...lol.
  17. I am sure someone said they would be report back here on the open house.
  18. I have to agree with Candybee and Carol. I used to make them and always used apple pie/vanilla/blueberry. One year I did try sugar cookie and it smelled pretty good too. I wouldn't mix a clean scent with bakery.
  19. OMG....what a cool looking swirl. Between you and Barbara AL I am so jealous...lol. j/k If I practiced more I could get the hang of it someday. I would need layered soap dishes in my bathrooms to display all of the gorgeous soaps you ladies make.
  20. I agree with ChrisR. I used a lot of WYW oils from Doreen before Doneen at BCN started supplying them here in the US. Anyway...every one of them threw great in paraffin...straight paraffin with additives that I blended...and one pour container wax. And I could get away with using less than the standard 1 oz./lb. Citrus Peel and Pine was super strong using 3%. I would have to check my notes to see IF I tested them in the first soy/soyblend wax that I was using...KY's Perfect Blend. I am glad that I read this thread because honestly...I forgot how great WYW oils were...lol. The only ones that I tested that I didn't care for the "smell" were Snowberry and Mulled Cider. Couldn't give away the Snowberry and the Mulled Cider literally smelled like crap to me and my testers...lol.
  21. Hopefully, you see this Bernadette. I took tarts to their shop this morning. I got there shortly after my X-DIL got there and she had just turned on the melter. So I walked to the back and put the bag of tarts on the table and told her to try them and see if they melt in that melter. If not...take them home and use them in the punched tin melter she bought from me. All of my melters came from Irvin's Tinware here in PA. So...the bottom of the melter was getting pretty warm but the bowl was barely warm and the orange colored "bars" had not melted yet so I lifted it off and saw the lightbulb. It's not the candleabra bulb like I use...it's the small fat bulb and it was 25 watt. I checked my bulb yesterday...it blew out and that pissed me off since I didn't have another bulb the size that mine takes...it IS 40 watts. I put a 20 watt in my melter and it softened my tart but after 3 hours it was NOT melted. So I will be anxious to see what Cathy's results are. And...whatever scentsy scent was in the melter today...again...no throw at all unless you were right there by the table. Cathy said the girl that hosted the party gave Kristin catalogs so she said...here...take one. I said well I am certainly not going to be buying anything and she said...I am not either...way too expensive. I the catalog it says 20 Watt for mid size warmers and 25 watt for full size. The bulbs are $1.00 each. I'm looking right now at the Scentsy Brick. It says net wt. 15 oz. and it is $8.00 the break apart bars are $5.00 each. The bars say 3.2 fl. ozs. and the net wt. is 2.6 ozs. Looking at the melters that have "bars" in them...every one is showing to melt 2 pieces. I sell my 1 oz. fluted tarts for $1.00 each. I have the 6 cavity clamshells and only poured in a few of them. I was asking $3.00 each since I figured you sould have to use 2 cubes to get a good throw. I haven't had a chance to check out their fragrance selection. But...I did see Black Raspberry Vanilla. I checked out B&BW's website and they DO have all of their products trademarked and copyrighted. And it says that no one can use them and they WILL prosecute. Scentsy doesn't even give credit to them or say anywhere that it is a TYPE. So...still not at all impressed with Scentsy.
  22. WOW! That is so cool looking. I can't wait to see the cut pictures also. That's another soap that I would put on display...too gorgeous to use. lol
  23. If it is still there on Thursday...I will check. If it's turned on though...I know I will take potholders with me. lol The bowl and the warmer were HOT I am taking some tarts with me too. I found a huge stash of tarts in boxes in my garage that I poured years ago. Probably 8 or 9 years...lol. So...I opened the packages and have been using one of each scent. These are over powerful...you can smell them all over my house. Upstairs is just as strong as downstairs. My punched tin warmers were from Irwin's Tinware. I sold a LOT of them but stopped for some reason that I can't remember. I don't know what size bulb is in theirs but I will check that too. I also used to sell the T-light warmers but people stopped buying them once I started selling electric. I normally turn mine on when I get up...usually before 7am. And turn it off at 8 or 9 at night. I am home all day so I trust it. But I DO turn it off if we are going away for a length of time. Did you buy any of Scenty's bars or whatever they are called. The tarts I am melting now were straight paraffin with vybar. I'm thinking it had to be 3035 from CW. So...I guess I will see if they melt in their warmer. Now I use the 3035 but add 20% container wax...parasoy. Gives them a creamier look that I like better.
  24. I keep coming back to your post to look at your beautiful candles. I love the palm wax pillars. I've poured a lot but...didn't go any further than pouring straight in the mold with one color. I think I will do some experimenting. Of course...knowing me...they will look like crap. lol
  25. Yesterday I got my hair done and my X DIL said that her business partner had been to a Scentsy party and bought the electric warmer that was sitting in the back of their shop. I gave them a punched tin...MADE IN AMERICA...warmer about 7 years ago and they have been using it everyday. Kristin was not in yesterday but Cathy said she brought the warmer and "tarts" in the day before...spent $30. on the warmer...I thought it was ugly but that is my personal opinion since I wouldn't have bought that particular color and style. I walked up to the table where it was sitting and sniffed...couldn't smell a thing. I had to stick my nose almost in the bowl to smell it...and OMG...STINK. It was Newborn Nursery. I was at their shop 3 1/2 hours and never did smell it except to stand over top of it. Oh...and I thought they said how cool their wax is. That tart burner was so hot I couldn't touch the bowl where the tart was melting...it was that hot. Cheap imported shit that I wouldn't waste a penny on. I was looking at their website...$8.00 for a 2 oz. bottle of room spray. LMFAO!!!!
