  1. Thank you Shar! I'm taking it out of the cart right now. OMG Boudior is so nasty to me, I almost gaged. I like forest nymph, but the winter festival sold a little better for me. I am looking at thier lush twllight, bob's flower shop, and sweater weather. I also wonder about the new ones, anyone tried them and have feedback especially for soap?
  2. Thank you Candybee, I have a bunch that I want to get from FB, the moonworks dupes & lush dupes that I have purchased from FB have been my best sellers. I am trying to think what I will do with the 7% vanilla issue, maybe an in the pot blind swirl, with some of the batter being unscented. At 7% there isn't really any point of fighting it. I wish there would be more reviews on his site, I have Celtic Mist, Coffee Bean and a lush dupe in my cart. At least if I wait awhile I can go through some of my FO that I already have.
  3. Well you make me feel better, but seriously I have a ton of color mostly mica some oxides. I blame the conservatorie for a hugh portion of my colors, they have that $50 minimum purchase, and they package in 3.5 oz sizes, but even without a coupon their prices are amazing. I usually can get nine or ten 3.5oz packages for the minimum purchase. Then I sneak a couple from Nuture in, so I am guilty too.
  4. I would enjoy the weather and give myself a few days off, if you can force yourself to measure out the oils in the evening then you will be ready to soap when you are more inspired. I understand that you have to make it, but I do so much better when I am not dreading it!
  5. They discontinued most of the cosmetic safe neon type mica that I had ordered. If you end up going for the Tomato red there are two and you will want the concentrated, it is non bleeding, cosmetic safe, and stable; so their code NCS would be on it. I think they have a very small bottle, it comes in a glycerin mix. I think you will end up fine with mixing the really red and oxide. I was happy with the mix on Soaping 101 and think you have a head start with the really red.
  6. I have read that the tomato red from TKB trading is really red, just last week I needed a red for a rainbow soap, and I didn't want to make an order for just that. So I used Soaping 101's recipe and it is the closest to red I have ever gotten. She had a video showing the recipe, I don't want to quote the wrong amounts, but it was a neon pink, ruby red from the conservatorie, and red oxide. Ialso think you could use that mica with a little red oxide, and if you have any darker red mica maybe throw that in too. The Red Vibrance is similar to ruby red.Oh and that is very pretty soap, just not what you expected.
  7. I also love the 2.5" width, I think they are perfect cut at 1", unfortunately my cutter is1.25" and I only use the mold for special gifts. When I get a single wire cutter I will use it all of the time. My mold is from Nurture, love the silicone liner, the mold does the job, but I am not crazy about the wood, for the price I can't really complain though.
  8. Has anyone tried the WSP shea butter and aloe lotion, or the satin and silk lotion? I really don't want to order the entire sampler kit, I really like the description and feedback on the shea butter, but I have heard such good comments on the goat milk..... any suggestions?
  9. I think that Jcandleattic and myself probably represent the two most common ways people make beer soap. I let mine go flat, add a little salt, and bring the beer to a boil, then simmer a few minutes, let it completely cool, usually overnight. I really don't know if the alcohol would survive the lye, but I've always done it this way. I don't think the end product would be that much different. The beer will make it move a little quicker even added at trace, but nothing crazy like a seizeure. I don't make my beer soaps fancy, so there is enough time to color, and do a simple swirl.
  10. Oh all of those 'beer' fragrances sound so good! i know your beer soaps will be very popular, the yeasty smell will go away during the first week. Some fragrances are strong enough to mask it, but many are not. But with curing all you will smell is the FO. My nephew and his friends cleaned out my beer soaps, so time to make more. The most time consuming part is preping the beer. Everyone has their own method for making beer soap, I don't mix the beer with the lye, but cook it down a little to get rid of the alcohol, let it go flat, and then add it at trace.
  11. Burbon vanilla sounds yummy! Do you use their Nag Champa in soap, or just candles? I always used WSP and the last time it was different, and now I need a new Nag Champa. I also need to make more Lavender Sage this weekend so that I have enough on hand..
  12. I just finished up some Lemon Verbena, Beer, Peach Necter and tomorrow I will be making a six color rainbow in the pot swirl for a festival at the Russian River in late May. The Rainbow soap is kinda of a PIA but people love them. Candybee I am using the Peach Nectar from CS, you had mentioned the Peach from them, how does it hold up through cure? I would love to be able to stretch the Peach Nectar a little with the peach, and was worried about fading. For me Candle Science FO does well in cold process, some candle suppliers fo's just don't make it through being dumped in a bunch of oil & lye.
  13. OMG that poor woman; they say a picture is worth a thousand words. I am so sick of these crazy YL people, they seem to target soapmakers as potential recruits, and drive me crazy. I hate being rude, but that is almost the only solution to getting them to move away from my table at a craft fair. When I ask about the FDA problems, and false claims they do usually leave me alone. I don't know why some people think that just because EO is natural, that it is all safe to use, so many can cause issues with high blood pressure, pregency and other conditions. I love using EO in soap, but I check out every new EO that I use for possible interactions.
  14. Yes I used to love the Nag Champa from WSP I felt it was the best by far; hoping I just got a bad bottle, But now I am looking for a replacement, since everyone asks for Nag Champa and I need one that is good in soap.
  15. I am loving CS Lemon Verbena, have a question about the CS Nag Champa...has anyone used it in soap, and how did the scent hold. It has one review from a soaper and that review says no scent! I keep forgetting to select it as my sample, so if anyone knows. I used to love the WSP Nag Champa, but feel that it has changed, I called and they assured me it hadn't, but it is not the same to me. My sample from CS this time was Fig & Rhbarb and it is very interesting, haven't tested yet, but smells nice and strong.
  16. My favorite EO is Litsea Cubeba mixed with almost anything! Candybee if you are planning to use Wintergreen in soap take a look at the description on Wikipedia regarding toxicity. I still know people that use it in soap, and soap is a wash off product, but the information is important to know.
  17. Sea Minerals is a beautiful fragrance, and I also think upscale. I wouldn't say briny out of the bottle it is strong, however it is very very weak in cold process soap, I used one ounce per pound and you can hardly smell it a month later. I am so disappointed since I love the fragrance, would make a beautiful candle though. I think the Moonworks Sea Witch is briny, I haven't smelled the Celestial Sea
  18. Maybe they are having problems with the website, they just posted on Facebook new fragrances came in on March 24, so not sure what is going on. It seems they would say the site was down on Facebook.
  19. has anyone used the Lavender Vanilla that was discontinued from Candle Science? I have an 8oz. bottle, but if it smells like play dough I guess that I could use it for wax melts. I purchased it for soap, and know it will go dark brown, but that is OK.
  20. love the colors! They don't look at all washed out to me, I think that is a Flicker FO and I have been wanting to compare it to WSP Fresh Ginger Lime, which is one of my very favorites.
  21. Candybee are you planning on using it for soap? I never got around to trying it in soap from MW, and now that Fragrance Buddy has ordered more MW I am anxious to find others that work in soap. I had a middle of the week craft fair yesterday and the MW dupes from FB were very popular.
  22. Thank you Moonshine I love the lavender sage, patchouli passion, winter festival and gypsy rose. I tried the sea witch in a sample and it is still on the curing rack. I was just hoping to get another great one for soap. I was debating between the ancient incense, earthen oak, and Merlin's forest. I have heard that Bella is weak, but don't know if that is true, so I kinda put it on the back burner.
  23. Just added Ancient Incense now too! Must be working on the site right now because it wasn't there a few minutes ago! Any feedback???
  24. Oh no he has added more, just added Merlin's Forest, Celestial Sea, and Earthen Oak. Any feedback on these? Especially in soap? The Earthen Oak says no vanilla, but I wonder about that. Also I have tried Sea Witch, is Celestial Sea stronger? Is is nice? Dawnmichelle I tried the Boudoir in soap it wasn't something I would want, but that might just be me. It might be nice in a candle, I am sure others here have used it for candles.
  25. I tie the end pieces up with some nice ribbon and they sell really quickly, I always run out. The price is reduced, but usually $5.00 a stack. I know areas vary, and I don't know how much a regular bar goes for in your area, but the stack should sell for as much as a bar, unless they are banged up. I don't like the idea of naked soap, and was reluctant to do this, but they are usually gone so fast people aren't handeling them. I get the ribbon at Papermart, and it is high quality ribbon for a very low price.
