  1. The caps will come off easily with an old fashioned nut cracker, the inexpensive type with just two metal bars. Use the nut cracker to squeeze where the two arrows are, and twist. I couldn't get them off without this, their old child prof caps came off, but these are impossible without a little help. I like most of the MW dupes, and some of the Lush dupes. I'm using in soap so not sure which ones would be good in candles, for soap Gypsy Rose, Sun & Earth, Patchouli Passion, and Sea Witch are very popular. Both the Sea Witch and Gypsy Rose do move fast in soap.
  2. Thank you Barb they have many that sound good for soap as well as candles. I will have to put them on my growing list!
  3. I have been looking for a new lavender to soap, anything else from The Flaming that is good in soap?
  4. Henrietta, I do CP soap and have ordered many fragrances from Fragrance buddy, but from your list I have only soaped two, the Lush Sex Bomb, which I love, it is easy to soap, no problems, and it sticks. I also have used the Cucumber Melon which was easy to soap is still there months after cure, however it is more of a straight cucumber I don't smell any melon. I have mostly soaped their Moonworks dupes and the Lush Dupes, I have soaped the Mango Pineapple, and it is a great scent, super strong, and sticks. I was curious about the Pineapple Cilantro, but it has 8% vanilla, and I wanted to avoid more brown soap. If you have any questions about the Moonworks dupes I've soaped most of them, and quite a few of the Lush dupes.
  5. I like the one from CS I've made melts, and CP soap it is nice and strong, I'm searching for one that is a little slower acceleration in the soap.
  6. They are great to work with, but the 10lbs minimum per oil is more than I need of any one fragrance.. I have had some great ones and some bombs. They are generous with samples, but I would still rather only purchase 2 or 3lbs of each fragrance.
  7. No me neither, I've also ordered several times, never any problems with my orders, they ship quickly, and have always been correct even when I've had fragrances with similar names. I've had back ordered items ship out within a couple of days, and clearly marked on the invoice that they were back ordered. My less than perfect reviews are all there, as well as my positive reviews, sorry that you ran into problems.
  8. OMG that liquid soap is beautiful, it looks like honey! I am hoping to make soap again today when I finish work, and hopefully this weekend. The Sun and Sand is getting stronger it is very nice, think people will like it. The Love Spell is stronger than my old one from Candle Science, I had just soaped the last of the CS so I was able to compare. I am loving the Peach Magnolia Raspberry, and it is stronger now too, I also love the Redwood Cedar, strange but I smell cinnamon, which I am sure is just me, the Tangerine Dream is nice, but I would like it a little stronger, will have to see what happens, I am also waiting to see if the Black Cedarwood Juniper changes it seems to have calmed down a little, but still plenty strong. I also have the FB Pink Sugar, and know at 8% vanilla it will be dark brown, so I am trying to decide what to do, I don't use glitter, but have some bright pink glitter that I bought when I first started soaping, might use that or maybe a mica swirl. I've never done mica swirls, and wonder if they wash off when the soap is used. I will have to play around to see what I come up with. My soap curing rack is quickly getting full, so I will need to get creative soon. I know that I will have enough soap for the craft fairs I have scheduled, but hoping I can find one or two more. One of the 5 is juried and I am not guaranteed that I will have a table, I know there is one other soap maker that has put in an application, but our soap is very different. They don't tell you for sure to the end of October which I find annoying, but it is a great fair, this is only their 2nd year, I was too late last year.
  9. I love the one from FB I have only used it in CP soap and it holds very well with a nice strength. I haven't tried any of the others, but believe that BeScented uses the same manufacturer. It has been a very popular fragrance for me.
  10. I just ordered, and you just have to order $75 before the discount, and then the shipping is free. I seriously need to stop, since I just placed my first order with Tennessee Candle too. I have been purchasing from FB for about a year, and have quite a few that I will reorder. I love the: Lavender Sage Patchouli Passion Sun & Earth Mango Pineapple Winter Festival Karma Sex Bomb Sultana Gypsy Rose Sea Witch To me the Bella, Sir Dorian, and Ancient Incense were weak.I ordered a bunch of new ones and will post as I get them tested, I am making soap, so I don't do many food scented fragrance oils.
  11. I am so curious about the Lust scent, I wanted to use it in CP, I know it is supposed to be super strong, how do you think it would be OK on it's own? I have on the Lush site that people that love jasmine, and strong scents rave about it.
  12. The only ones that I have tried is Winter Festival & Sea Witch, I love both, although I use them in CP soap. I think they would be nice in a candle or wax melt too. I have tried many of the Moonworks, and some of the Lush. Dark Knight has a lower usage rate, and it is very strong, and holds well in CP soap. I actually used less than the maximum amount, and mixed a little bit of another FO in with it.
  13. Yes if you are getting holes it can be because the heat gun is too hot, and possibly too close to the shrink wrap. I find it easier to start on the sides, I use shrink bags from Papermart that are thin enough that the bars do breath, I have bars that are two years old without any DOS or sweating. I find that the shrink wrap holds the scent. I always cure at least 5 to 6 weeks before wrapping. I think the bands might be a little more difficult. You might try holding the top surface down while you do the sides first. There have been a few youtube video's on how to do shrink wrap bands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvLXZIgL21w Those are the bags (in the video) that I use, but I don't cut the end off, I use a wrap around label that covers the one end, and I just tape it, some people use a heat sealer. These bags are way less expensive, about $6 for 500 bags. They sell out often, but always get them back in stock. Hope this helps.
  14. woops! I meant hope the Lust smells better in soap. I am wanting a real strong jasmine.
  15. I have soaped the Lush Dupe of Orange Blossom, it is not a sweet orange blossom scent, smells like an EO combination to me and I think it would be a great mixer. The rosewood comes through, as well as the ylang ylang, and neroli, I don't know that I would use it alone again, but my friend loves the scent. It just is not strong like a FO. I am hoping that the Lush smells better in soap than your oob testing. It is supposed to be super strong which I was hoping would make a good CP fragrance.
  16. I was hoping that Lust would be a good strong Jasmine for CP soap, it seems to be very popular at Lush, and hope it works well in CP. Please let us know. I purchased the Lush Orange Blossom, and will be soaping with it tomorrow.
  17. Yes it is frustrating, I think they are trying to avoid trouble with the original designers, because there used to be more information. I will have to take my honey patchould and patchouli passion out to compare the two side by side. I love the Patchouli Passion, and stopped ordering the Honey Patchouli, since it didn't make sense to have both.
  18. Candybee the Gypsy Rose moves fairly fast like many florals, so I just soap full water, and cool. The Merlin's Forest isn't slow, but since it has a high vanilla content you probably won't be doing anything fancy. Dark Knight was super easy to work with, and they changed the IFRA amount from 3% to 4% right after I made my batch. I had used 2.5% Dark Knight and .50% another FO for a blend. Considering the low % it smells really good, I may bump it up a bit though since the IFRA is higher now. If you like Elements Honey Patchouli you should get a sample of Patchouli Passion to compare. The Lavender Sage and the Sun & Earth are both great in soap, they are two of my most popular, but I think that can change by regions.
  19. I love quite a few of their scents, many of the people here worked very hard to get their original Moonworks FO to Fragrance Buddy to be duped. I am grateful to them, since these fragrances had a chance of being lost. I've tried many of the ones from the Moonworks Collection, I really like Lavender Sage, Gypsy Rose, Merlin's Forest, Patchouli Passion, Sun & Earth, and Dark Knight. I also think some of the Lush Dupes are good, I have had good results with, Karma, Sex Bomb, Sultana, I am using them in soap, so they may translate differently in candles. Just like any other fragrance supplier there will be some that you may not care for. I like the free shipping after $75, and the Holiday sales too. I am very picky about fragrances, and would have never guessed that I would love so many of their fragrances. Being strong in cured soap is not always an easy thing to accomplish. Edited: Typo
  20. Candybee it is at NDA (New Directions Aromatics) last time I looked it was $22 a pound. It is very strong, and can overpower other EO in a blend. If you want the lotion to smell like citronella, and want it to repell bugs, then you are good, but a fragrance oil might smell prettier.
  21. Lemon Eucalyptus is a good inscet repellant the Lemon Eucalyptus (China) from NDA lists: Main Constituents: Citronellal: 82.1% It is stronger than any citronella that I have used, and very affordable too.
  22. I have been wanting to try their Vanilla Sandalwood, and Dragon's Blood, and a couple of their Lavenders been waiting to use up a little more of what I have on hand. Anything else I should add to my ever growing list?
  23. That is a nightmare for sure, on the bright side you will have some nice mica that works well in Cold Process soap.
  24. I would love to know, I think strawberry is more difficult than coffee, vanilla, or peach, and most of the strawberry shortcake types have a high amount of vanilla in them, which would create a color issue. I recently attended a Strawberry Festival, and with 5 weeks notice, and not having ever tested a strawberry I decided that I would just bring my regular soaps, and some Summer fruits. The strawberry and lime sound really nice for Summer.
  25. I have never used the hobby lobby base, but I think it won't compare to the bases offered by soap supply companies. With melt & pour it isn't really a question of adding more ingredients, it is a ready made product, and there actually is a limit to how much you can add to the base. I have very limited experience with melt & pour, but used to make full size cupcakes, and used the no detergent base from WSP. There are lots of other options out there, I mainly used WSP because this can be a heavy item, and the shipping was free.
