  3. I think if you do open houses and have local wholesalers you will do well, my wholesalers are buying up a storm because they feel everyone will be doing their holiday shopping close to home.
  4. Yes this is normal for them, it usually takes about 3 weeks to get your mold, they make them to order. HTH:)
  5. Hmmmmmm is it very soft when you are cutting it. Also don't worry, once it get hard you can polish it up, just use a nylon stocking to lightly polish or try misting with alcohol and wiping it off. They will be fine.

  8. I haven't done it with soap yet but I did a whole batch of candles all colored pretty pretty and forgot to add the scent. I was pretty bummed about that. I think we all do it at one time or another.
  9. When I make bath bombs i use the tiniest bit of color or no color at all, I am in the testing stages but all of my bombs a very light in color. For coloring I am using gel tones from Bitter Creek.

  11. It is so funny that you bring up this subject, I was just thinking today, people have no idea how much work this is. I have like 6 new scents I am testing plus pouring like crazy for the fall and holiday season and the orders keep rolling in, if I hear the word votive again I am going to scream LOL I have been trying to get a batch of soap made for a week but I just keep pouring and pouring. LOL

  18. Yes I would lightly heat them, very lightly, mix you lye and let it cool for 30 mins and then lightly heat the oils.
  19. Yes you can or a piece of wood.
  20. I get frustrated sometimes but you have to learn in bits and pieces, I was lucky to find an accountant my first year that did my books and also helped me learn the ropes , I am attempting to do my own books this year, and I hate it but I have learned so much it is well worth it. Go slow as Robin said you may not want to do it as a business, I think that thought crosses my mind 3 or 4 times a week. Then I remember what managing a company with 30 employees was like, I am at a point where I think I want to get a part time job as I get to feeling very isolated at times.
  21. Good Luck, have a good stiff drink and go to bed, I bet you are having a hard time sleeping. Can't wait to see pics and see how it goes, just forget about everything else for a couple of days and dream about all that money you will be making for the holidays. Take Care, at some point you will just pass out.
  22. I agree with foxhill, I always have a basket with votives and tarts and offer them while I am writing up reciepts, people don't usually take advantage, 2 or 3 votives or tarts each and I alway insist they try a different scent. it is a way to get them to try different scents and people love freebies. I also make soap so I will cut those funny looking unsellable pieces into two inch or so sizes and give those away as well. Now if someone spends 100 or so I become very generous. LOL If there is a hostess I always make them a heart container of their favorite scent as a welcome gift in the beginning and usually charge her wholesale prices on what she purchases. I have tried a lot of different things and find that this works best.
