  1. If you are not renaming the scent, then I would with the color of waterfalls. Blues, greens, whites.
  2. I didn't do candles last year. But this year I renamed some of the FOs that I want to get rid of that did not sell well and people are buying them now. I have found if I take anything to do with Christmas or Holiday out of the name and change like you did to Cottage or Grandma's or Cozy, they sell better. I sometimes think if they have '___ holiday' in the name, they won't burn it after the holiday.
  3. I would call them again. I just ordered from them on Tuesday. I did not order that wax from them but they have it listed on their site. 6006A Does not mention that they are out of stock. I think there must have been a communication problem. HTH
  4. I receive The Country Door catalog about twice a year. They are pricey. Can't believe someone wouldn't have looked at that candle a little closer. It shouts problems.
  5. Wax and some new scents will be in tomorrow. Melts and testing the new scents and about 100 votives to do this weekend. I hate making votives but the customers like them.
  6. Good question. I also have wicked both ways. While the pin is easier and stays centered better, it does leave a sloppy hole. I do use wick tabs. Hope there is a lot of input on this.
  7. 1/8-1/4 inch. Cute kitty in your avatar. I've been going to put my kitty up, but he takes ugly pictures. It's like everytime I get the camera out he puts his ears back.
  8. I personally like a flickering candle. I would wait longer into the burn. Is it getting a full melt pool? Should have at about 3 hours. Is the jar if it is a jar getting too hot? I determine more on wicks with the 2nd and 3rd burn rather than the first. Hope this makes sense.
  9. This is my first year back to candles. I didn't do any last year. So when I got my new supplies I ordered some para/soy blends. I can honestly say I didn't like any of them as far as great ht like I used to get with paraffin. Went back to comfort blend. and J223. ETA My heat gun is always on my table. I can deal with sink holes more than I can with poor scent throw.
  10. Very pretty. Palm is on my list to try after the new year.
  11. I do the same. Whatever I have extra laying around. Container or even soy. Though I also agree with the one poster about the ripples not bothering. I do not repour my melts - too much bother for something so small.
  12. I really like them. Love the little rose. Very nice.
  13. Ditto to this. I have 5 cases of tureen jars that have just sat because I hate to double wick. But it seems the only way to get this jar to burn right after testing about 10 wicks to single wick.
  14. I have found when USPS ships that the package can take up to 7-10 days to receive from ship date. I don't know what the problem is there. I have yet to have a tracking # actually work. Go to PO and have them track. PIA but it usually works.
  15. Although I have had a lot of hit or miss from BCN, I poured Happy Holidays a couple of weeks ago. I really like this fragrance. OOB it had a lot of fruity tones. In wax the spice really comes out. It really reminds me of Christmas.
  16. The gooey stuff that you rub on the chest.
  17. I mix equal Eucalyptus and Peppermint and about a tablespoon of vap-o-rub into tart wax. Makes a stong melt for the bedroom. HTH
  18. I love this scent and would like to make in a candle. For those of you that have used cashmere scents and may be familiar with this store brand are any dupes out there. I went to frangrance oil finder for cashmere. Comes up with 15 plus listings. All listing a different variety of scents. Any help would be appreciated. TIA
  19. I ordered from them a couple of years ago. Since they are fairly close to me and I needed wax. I ordered a few different fos from them. Weak. I found it didn't pay to save on shipping by receiving weak fos. JMO
  20. I will also be testing this wax this weekend. This is a new wax to me. I have been away from candlemaking for a couple of years. Past preferences before were 223 and 4627. I do have these waxes on hand. Unless they have changed alot I will be able to not have to do much testing with using my old notes. However I do have some new fragrances to test. Anyway, I will be testing LX, zinc and HTP in the 6006. Since the 6006 has some soy/vegetable wax in it and I am not familiar with soy, is this a good start point? What is the % of veggie? Went on IGI site. No #'s. Not trying to butt in on your thread, however, it will be interesting if we have similar results. I have no CD wicks. Not planning on purchasing. I have two drawers full of everything but CD. I will hopefully also take pics comparing burn every three hours. Sometimes what I think at first is a crappy wick turns out to be the best for mid and end burn. Catches up to itself. Also why I do not test by poking a hole and inserting a different wick. Never has worked out well for me. Goodluck with your testing.
  21. Well, I am back to making some candles after about an eighteen month sabatical. I see 4794 is having some issues. So back to retesting. I suppose this means I will have to throw out all of my old notes and start over. Thank goodness I did not order full cases of anything of my old stand bys. Time will still be limited for me as far as much candlemaking. I have 6006 and J223 also. Any issues with these?
  22. They actually look better than the real thing in some of our local bakeries. Nice job.
  23. I strive to also have my pillars consume themselves just like the containers I make. I try to have a burn that leaves approximately 1/4" on the outside. I will burn for about 3 -4 hours. Extinguish and hug. Trim wick when completely cool. Repeat the above process. A too large wick will probably blow the side after the 2nd or 3rd burn. A too small wick will tunnel and the candle will not consume itself. I realize we do not want to blow the sides-resulting in a big puddle, but a good burning pillar should also consume itself like a votive or a container. JMO
