  1. I'm sure that wax is still good. It isn't a soy. But even if it were, I think it would be fine. I found 2 cases of ky125 that was bought 4 years ago & I think it is better now than when I first tried it, lol. PamR
  2. What type wick do you find works best in this wax? I like the wax, but am having a terrible time finding just the right wick. They either burn small or overheat the votive cup. I've been lucky I guess, no cracking, yet. PamR
  3. Have you burned one all the way down? I have a customer hammering me to make these, but without a wick tab I'm just curious as to how they react when the melt pool reaches the end of the woodwick. I'm sure it would probably just fall into the wax & go out, but how much of the wax would be left? I noticed that wsp has only one size, but c&s has a small & a large size. PamR
  4. Geez, I don't need another supplier, but can't pass up the .99 sale, lol. Any suggestions of samples to try? PamR
  5. I need to make some pillar molds & wondered what the differences are in the MoldMax 10,20,30, & 40. I am clueless. I want a firm yet flexible silicone, not an overly soft silicone. Thanks for any info. PamR
  6. Thanks, never heard of them. They don't carry the votive wax by golden grands, but I think I'll try the enchanted lites votive. Pam R
  7. Does anyone in or near Texas sell the golden brands waxes? I was going to order some from soycandle.com, but the shipping is a killer. I wanted to get some of their votive wax to try. Thanks Pam R
  8. Alot of the wax blends are super white. One little trick I use is to add some opaque votive wax to my pillar wax. I have some wedding cupcake tarts that have been packaged & sitting in the open that are as white as the day I made them. One of the properties of wax is that over time it oxidizes. I used to use BHT to help keep this from happening, but haven't ordered any in a long time. It seems to help some. I think the only place to buy this is General Wax. Pam R
  9. Gee, looks like I'm in the minority! I have shipped exclusively with FedEx for almost 3 years now. Never ever had a problem. In my experiences they are cheaper & quicker than ups. Most of my suppliers use ups & I have always had a great relationship with all my drivers. I can hear the trucks pull up, so I meet them at the back door. If I am not here, the drivers will leave the package on my back porch next to the door. The worst is usps. I have had several packages totally destroyed. But one was the shippers fault. I was in a fo coop & they shipped 4 GLASS bottles in a huge box with absolutely no packing at all! I was amazed that only 1 bottle broke. I now kinda steer clear from most coops, lol. But I also have a great relationship with the postal workers, it's just that they are not all quite as careful as some. PamR
  10. That does look bad, but since they are boxed, the customer doesn't see it til they take it out of the box. But if the candle is super strong, I don't think the customer will care that much how it looks. PamR
  11. I'm not sure I would use it at all. My reason for saying this is that this past summer my son was making salsa & needed a few extra jars. Being a candlemaker I had cases & cases of brand new, unused jars. I gave him a case, he put them thru washing in a dishwasher, but after filling them with the salsa, they noticed that the salsa tasted like candle scent. Mind you, these had never had wax in them, but were stored where I make candles. He had to throw out all his hand made salsa. You might try washing & rinsing in vinegar, put a small amount of spices in it. Leave for a couple of days & check to see how they smell. Pam R
  12. I think some people just can't smell the fuel part. If it has a smell, I can catch it within the first couple of minutes. Sometimes I let it burn & it seems to 'burn off'. Adding vanilla never seemed to work for me, tho. PamR
  13. I just poured this in Ky125. but all I smell is tart orange peel. I kinda like it. I'm going to let it cure a couple more days before burning any further. I was surprised there was no fuel smell. I can usually spot the fuel in the first 5 minutes. Maybe it is your wax or perhaps you used too much fo? I bumped this down to 7%. PamR
  14. Believe it or not, plain soapy water will loosen that hot glue. Then, just flick it off the bottom of the container. Works every time. Pam R
  15. I just noticed on ics site that they have an 'old formulation' cinnamon bun. I currently use the regular one. Is the old formula better? What's the difference in the 2 oils? Thanks a bunch Pam R:D
  16. I haven't had the chance to pour all of my samples, but I do carry the luscious vanilla(longwyck's fo); Hot apple pie (also Longwyck's version); & Little black dress. the vanilla & hap I have used for years & love them. Just wish they were a tad cheaper!! Pam R
  17. Wow, those look great. What price has to go on those? Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I think I need to look into the glue dots! I will also use the crumpled newspaper, great ideas! PamR
  18. I'm trying to put together a candle basket for a birthday gift. I'm embarrassed to say I've never done this! I am going to enclose the basket in cello, but how the heck do I keep the stuff from moving around? I used to do kitchen baskets, but the items were alot easier to stabilize! Thanks Pam R
  19. I make the mini bundtcakes using a metal bundt cake pan. I wick them after I unmold them & fill the center . Before the center completely cools, I stick a wick pin ( I use short pieces of welding rod) in the center. You could also use a wire coat hanger cut up in short pieces. My DH brought me the rods from work. Hope this helps Pam R
  20. I know you would love to find out if this gal is 'with' your competitor, but why not nip this in the bud. Simply tell her you have insurance & are not interested in changing companies right now. If she still questions you, tell her you know what she is doing, lol. I guess I'm just a very cautious person & never ever 'leak' any info I don't want out. Pam R
  21. I totally agree! I had one thermostat go haywire & it overheated the wax. Since the lid was on, I couldn't see the smoke, but kept smelling something burning. When I took of the lid, I realized what was going on. I quickly carrying the thing outside incase it did combust. Also, if you have pets, especially cats, keep an eye on the dial, lol. One of my cats brushed up against the dial & turned it way up. I now keep the cats totally out of the candle room! Pam R
  22. I use turkey roasters, & yes, the initial melting does take a bit of time. But once it is melted, I leave it on low all day, turn off at night,& the next morning it isn't completely solid, so it doesn't take long to completely melt. I have 3 going at a time. I would be lost without them. I never turn the thermostat up past 200 to get the melting going, then down to about 150 to keep it liquid. Keep adding wax as you use it, I try not to let my wax get too low, except when I want to clean it out. Believe it or not, wax has 'junk' in it that settles over time. Pam R
  23. I use turkey roasters & never leave it on overnight. I had a thermostat go haywire once & overheated the wax, so I turn off & unplug my roasters at about midnight. Since I keep them full, they never completely cool overnight & it only takes about 30 minutes in the morning to get it back to pouring temp. Pam R
  24. I knew it was Keystone, but for some reason typed keestone. Duh, I'm ok, I think. Thanks for the suggestions, I hate to order just one fo. Pam R
