  1. I don't think I've tried the 4630. Well, after checking, I think the harmony blend is the 4630! I'm trying all sorts of formulas. Right now I'm using 60% soy, 20% 941(soft parafin), & 20% harmony blend. Colors great, throws good, but am having to really wick down, which surprised me. I think I'll bump up the soy a bit. I hate testing, but need to use up these waxes.PamR
  2. thanks guys, I'm using the soy at 70%. I just hated to throw out this non burning soy, lol. Gotta make it work somehow. Thanks againPamR
  3. I am trying to use up 4 cases of soy that won't burn well, so I am mixing with parafin 70/30. Any ideas of what temp to pour this? I'm used to pouring at the slush stage, but this doesn't seem to work well with this blend. ThanksPamR
  4. I've used them for years. Love the grade A oils, never tried the cheaper B grade. We always call him 'Steve, the nice guy". Great service! Had one shipment completely destroyed by ups, Steve knew about it before it was even delivered & replaced the shipment! Love the blueberry muffin, spiced vanilla, black cherry, cranberry relish, & country spice. PamR
  5. It might be the temp you are pouring. I haven't used rubber molds in a long time, but remember the white cast. Try pouring hotter. HTH PamR
  6. I have found that turning the wick pins slightly will give me a better centered wickpin. Try repositioning them before pouring, you'd be amazed how 'off' these can be. PamR
  7. I don't think ky has the toasted coconut, just toasted marshmellow! I'm still searching for the toasted coconut myself. PamR
  8. OOps, forgot to say it will be in soy & parafin, both containers & pillars. I've looked at several suppliers & it seems this is not a popular fo. I'll check out Ky, I forgot to look there. Thanks Pam R
  9. had a request for toasted coconut. Any idea who has a really good one? Thanks so much PamR
  10. I have customers requesting dupes all the time, & I have to explain that there might be 300 different 'versions' of the fo they are asking for. Or they might say I want french vanilla--do you know how many french vanillas are out there? LOL. Drives me crazy! PamR
  11. Welcome, thought I read this wrong, lol. I'm also in Texarkana. All the suppliers listed are ones I have used. PamR
  12. I'm in Texarkana & order from LoneStar & BCS. I don't use that wax, but know that both of these suppliers carry it. PamR
  13. I agree, we need other fuels. And wax prices have been fairly steady in the past. I started when igi's 60#cases were $33.00, so you can see how much they have increased in the past 10 years. It really doesn't matter how high the price of waxes go, the customer is only going to pay so much for a decent candle. Soy is just going to be out of my profit margin for a while. PamR
  14. I've never seen wax of any kind go down in price, lol. Seems once it is up, it stays up. I for one won't be buying anymore soy! When my stock is gone, so are my soy containers. PamR
  15. I would try a cd 16 or 18, it really depends on the fo HTH PamR
  16. holy moly! I can't believe anyone would give 85 for a case of anything, lol. I am just so jealous of you guys that can pick up your wax & supplies. I have to have everything shipped. Oh, well, it was nice while it lasted. Nothing we can do about it. PamR
  17. WOW! bumpin this back up. Just checked c-3 at JBN, it is now 79.00 a case. I can't afford that with almost $22 shipping added. I guess I will have to seriously rethink my whole candlemaking biz. PamR
  18. Not sure abouy that exact wax, but I found a case of ky125 that was at least 2 years old & it was actually better than when it was new. I'd use it! PamR:)
  19. yes, that's them. How the heck did you manage to upload that pic, lol. I think I'll try one just for the heck of it. PamR
  20. hmm, the link will not work, oh well, it's on QVC, in Valery Hills candle selection. Can't figure why the url won't work. PamR
  21. Has anyone made anything like these? I have a customer that wants me to make some, but I honestly don't like the whole idea of them, seems there would be way too much air space in these candles. Thanks in advance. PamR ok, will try to just post the pic,hmm can't do this either. Anywho, the candle jar contains bits of wax to make it look like cookie mix & other ingredients. It surely can't be soy, must be parafin.
  22. The hurricane looks great! There is a somewhat easy way to find the approximate mp of wax. I had to call a wax rep a few years back to inquire about some awful wax & he said this is what the lab guys do to find mp. Melt some of the wax, bring it up to 190 or 200 degrees. Using a regular type thermometer, not sure if the digital type would work, dip into hot wax & withdraw the therm. with a drop of wax on it. This is the only tricky part, try to keep the 'drop' on the very bottom of the therm, you might have to twirl the therm. slightly. As soon as the drop congeals, read the temp, this is the mp, give or take a degree or two. At least you will know whether it is container, pillar, or hurricane wax. Works everytime. Hth Pam R:grin2:
  23. are you double wicking? Sounds like the wax is getting too hot. PamR
