  1. I had no clue, that the terds had tarts trademarked. How the heck can they do that, like example they use Honeydew Melon right, I bet that is trademarked to, but that is the word for that, they didn't come up with it by themselves, somebody else did years ago. I guess I'm going to have to brush up on my trademark info. Thanks for the heads up, Mindy :rolleyes2
  2. Not the one that smells like vicks, or the speirment Eucalyptus. I am looking for a true Eucalyptus scent. My mom has been bugging me since I started making candles for one, and I have bought samples from Natures Garden Candles and Early American Candle Supplies, and have come up with the speirment or vicks. Help me Please, I don't care how far away they are, I need it. Mindy
  3. I had a hell of a time wicking this jar, I use 100% soy flakes, and I have used the hemp 1400 wicks, which i was sort of ok with it, because I had tested several and that wick was the best. So now with this post I'm going to test some more but double wick with hemp 838 and htp 52. I had no clue you could double wick an 8 oz jar, or tin. See you learn something new everyday. Thanks to whomever posted this, and whomever posted about double wicking, Mindy
  4. Ok, I get it, those suppliers aren't going to be there. So what else is there to do at the convention other than meeting you guys, lol. Is there going to be people there selling their candles/ soaps??? I am sooo confused. Mindy
  5. I use 100% soy wax flakes with a little beeswax. Because I have noticed if I don't use the beeswax, my soy tarts flake. And I call them Tarts, I put them in a small clear cello bag, and tie them with a ribbon. They look perty. Mindy
  6. Yes, you have to test them. You have to test every candle you make. Just because they have the same diameters doesn't mean they will burn the same as the others. Heck, I use 2 different wicks for one jar, because of the FO. I really like the Honey pot and Bulb Jars but they are to expensive for me. Good Luck & Have Fun, Mindy
  7. I just did this 2 weeks ago, just to test it out. I made up tart bags, 1 tart in each bag and labeled it. I left a little heart $1 store basket with a note Free Tarts. I did that in 5 different places, and the orders have been comming in non stop. I'm not saying to give away all of your products but I have had multiple orders from the same people and their friends, so Word of Mouth Rocks. Example: The first lady to call ordered 20 tarts, she wanted fruit scents, so I made up 2 of each fruit scents, then she called back for her 2 daughters, they each want 20 tarts each, so I made up and mixed the scents I gave her and some different ones. So the lady could smell the ones I didn't give her. Have a Candle Party, invite friends, family, people you work with, neighbors, etc.... I like the car decal thing, that is neat. Flyers are good, you can put those up at any local bulletin board, usually grocery stores have them when you walk in. Are any of your Firehalls having any bingos, or gift basket bingos, ask the women auxilery, I'm sure they would love a donation. Good Luck, Mindy
  8. I'm definitley going, but have a question, lol. How much money should I think about saving up to go there. I see a whole bunch of suppliers I would love to buy stuff from. Mindy
  9. Have you gone to businesses around you and give them some samples of your products?? Like Spas, Hair Salons, Craft Shops, Real estate agents, Welcome Wagons, or anywhere with a lot of employees?? Mindy
  10. I use garbage bag ties to hold my wicks, works good. I tie it around the wick then bend the sides down on the side of the jar. I also use clothes pins to hold my wicks but I think that has already been mentioned. I have also used old ice cube trays for tarts and that's about it. Mindy
  11. Is there any sort of Tubes we can put our Tarts in? Mindy
  12. Thank You, maybe I worded it wrong, but thats what I meant. I'm soooo new to this type of thing, and nervous. Thanks again, Mindy:)
  13. I need suggestions on who can help me with a logo design, I am soooo lost when it comes to this sort of thing. Mindy
  14. I started making candles after my dad passed away, I needed a hobby, something to help ease the pain and keep me busy. Making candles is good therapy. Especially after going to court hearings, and getting absolutely no decision who the executor of my dads estate is. To come home and make candles, its great. How I got into soy was, so many people where I live make and sell paraffin candles. The ones that made soy, their candles looked awful on the tops, and they were really expensive. I remember I bought an 8 oz mason jar for $8. Boy did I get ripped off. Don't get me wrong the candle smelled awesome but I make the soy with the same type of jar and I sell mine for $5.50. Mindy
  15. Downstairs smells like Cucumber Melon, upstairs smells like Best Friends. Mindy
  16. Well on my list of Fragrances I put 8oz jar, Tarts, and ornerys down. I have tested the 4 oz but can't find my notes and totaly forget what wick and everything so I would have to test those over again. I want to move onto bigger things but still have to test test test what I'm doing now which is 16 oz jars. Which has been a nightmare since I started testing them. Thank you for all of the support that everybody has given me, Good Night, Mindy
  17. I filed for my name just the other day, but I wrote out a few different names and had all my friends and family vote on them. My name is associated with the people around me, its silly but everybody remembers it. Mindy:)
  18. Thanks guys, Yep I better go file for my name now. I love this group, you guys are awesome Mindy
  19. Oh my Goodness, the lady loved the candle, and so did alot of other people. My friend put up the list of fragrances, I have 10 orders for 8oz jar candles, and 2 orders for orneries-I know I spelled that wrong. I am sooooo excited. I also had a lady ask me if I could make up tart bags for her daughters babyshower, she wants them pink and white babypowder fragrance. She wants 4 in each bag, and wants 40 bags . YAY for me, Mindy
  20. I'm still a newbie, but the worst thing I have ever done was, when I was using my dads presto pot, I cleaned it up real good, so I thought I would make 2 lbs of wax in it, all of a sudden smoke was everywhere, I had to open all the windows and doors because my smoke detector was going off. If that wasn't bad enough somebody must of called the fire department and I had several fireman in my yard ready to hose my house down. My bf is a fireman, and ran in the house, full gear and looked at me and then looked at the pot. Went outside and said false alarm, Mindy is just making candles. Everyday, I have to hear about it. Mindy :embarasse
  21. My friends and family are my customers, they like lavender, everytime I pour it, I have to run and find my inhailer or stick my head in the freezer so I can breath. Mindy
  22. I just asked a question about jelly jar lids, I know they have the rustic at fillmore containers and Early American Candle Supplies. Mindy
  23. I just figured out that its my ex's weekend with my son on June 3rd. I hope he doesn't want to switch it again. If not then I'm there. Now to figure out who to take that isn't a drag, who wont get lost and how I'm going to save some money to spend. I can't wait to meet all of you, Mindy
