  1. I'm going to keep the name of the business and take your advice and change the internet site name, when ready. Thanks again, Mindy
  2. Ok, I'm a bit confused but anyways, I came up with a really neat/funny name for my candle business, I'm going to register it and all but when I looked it up on the internet to see if any sites had it, there was one, but her candle business was another name. She is a .com, but its available with .net but don't you think that would be confusing, since people are so used to entering .com that they would probably order off of her instead of me? I don't know why I'm fussing about this right now because I'm no where near selling my candles yet, but I think the next holiday season I will be. The first of the year I'm going to register a fictious name and all that fun stuff, but has that happened to anybody else, you pick out a name, look it up on the internet and see that name on the search engine, but the candle business is another name. So what do you do? Take that name and put .net after it, or choose a different name for the search engine, domain or whatever its called. Mindy
  3. Every person that I had test the Lick me all over candle, absolutley loved the scent. I think it stinks but 10 people love it. So it's a keeper. Mindy
  4. How would you know the difference, I haven't seen the glasses yet, but she is really pushing all of us to use these. Thanks, Mindy
  5. I posted a few topics in other sections about a candle bingo that I'm going to make candles for. The head of the womens auxilery called me to tell me she went to a store that was going out of business and bought alot of Lenox glass stuff and she was offering it to all of us that are making candles, so we could have fancier candles, I prefer only to use the containers that I have tested but the other candle makers are going to use them, basically what I'm asking is, is it safe to use Lenox glass, I thought that was thin glass or am I wrong??????? Mindy
  6. These are the ones that I have tested and what family and friends like: Banana Kiwi Best Friends Blueberry Cobbler Caramel Apple Creme Brulee Fresh Pear Hillbilly Homebrew Huckleberry Harvest Lick me all over Plum Pudding- which I think they stopped selling it Pumpkin Spice Satin Sheets Mindy :smiley2:
  7. I have had requests for them because around here PL is popular and everybody loves their 3 wicks but are tired of paying $45 for them, well especially my family and friends. I guess thats something new to start testing for the new year. Thanks a bunch. Mindy
  8. When I first started making my soy candles they looked crappy to, but then I started reading up on soy and they say to pour it when its slushy and the tops will come out smoother and also using a heat gun, will smooth out the top. Its trial and error, you'll soon relize the 50 lbs was well worth buying, because now you can experiment different pouring temps. I remember seeing somewhere that you can put beeswax which is natural in soy candles, it helps it look creamier and helps hold the scent. Your just going to have to experiment with the scents, and it definitly depends where you get them, I bought an apple pie off of NG, and had to put 1.5 oz to my 1 lb of wax, because it was a faint smell but the Eucalyptus from NG I only had to put 1oz because it was really strong. Good Luck, Mindy
  9. So many to choose how do you just pick a few??? I'm a very indecisive person, I guess I'm just going to close my eyes and point at the screen and whichever ones I choose, those will be the ones. lol Thanks to all that replied, keep them comming if there are anymore fragrances suited for Valentines Day. Mindy
  10. I'm going to have to take a look at candlewic, thanks for posting where you saw the molds. Mindy
  11. I really like your candle, I never saw a 3 wick chunky candle, you are very creative. Mindy
  12. Thanks those are some really nice fragrances, I just couldn't think of any last night, I think I was just so excited I had a brain freeze. One of the ladies of the womens auxilery called me this morning asking if I could make up to 10 different scented candles for the bingo, she said the vanilla I gave her to test last night was wonderful. Thanks, Mindy
  13. You can use 1 to 1.5 oz of fragrance per pound of wax, I use 1.5 with most of my fragrances because some just aren't that strong. Mindy
  14. Thanks, I was hoping someone on here made one, please keep us updated on how it turned out and where did you get the mold, I remember seeing a 3 wick mold when I was first looking into making candles but can't find it anywhere. Mindy
  15. I thought about Strawberry Cheesecake, chocolate, and Creme Brulee. But I want more opinions. There is going to be a candle bingo at the local firehall, and my bf cousins wife, lol was telling me that they asked her to make all the candles for it. Now I have pretty much mastered container candles, oval hex jars and Mason jars, tarts and orneries. I have been testing the jars non stop since I started making candles and am thinking I'm ready. So I asked the womens auxilery if I could make some jar candles for the bingo, she said the more the marrier. I was going to go with something risky but these are going to be older mountain ladies and I was told by my bf not to make lick me all over or any fragrance like that. So I guess what I'm asking is what other Valentine Fragrances can you come up with?? I was also going to put a bag of hershey kiss tarts and a heart shaped ornerie in a basket does that sound like to much?? TIA, Mindy
  16. I was wondering if we could, I have had requests but never tried it, and I have looked around and have never seen a soy 3 wick pillar candle. Mindy
  17. Ok I'm new and this might not help you but I have 3 different dyes 1 oz and I went through 2 50lbs of wax, and having a few of them leak everywhere. I still have alot left . You figure the most you can put in is 10 drops. I know that might not help but a little can go a long ways. Mindy
  18. I wish I could find my fav perfume FO's but this is what I wear: Spark, Liz Claiborne Sparkle, rue21 beComing Pretty, Avon Brand Head over Heels Mindy
  19. I asked my friends now they are thinking maybe it was called Booty Call, I looked it up and found one company that has it but it didn't state what it smelled like, so I emailed them and never got a response. Now my friends forget where they heard it from, so as soon as I can order some basic FO so I can figure out my own Booty Licious FO. People around here love risky names, I had one lady that I work with test Lick me all over and she tested it when her husband came home from being away for a week, and they both absolutley love the candle. Hmmm I doubt they payed attention to the candle but hey it worked I guess. Flirtation, Satan Sheets and Misbehaven are everybody elses fav scents, when I first started I wanted to name my candles after my familys favorites like pap pap cookies or something like that but now I think its turned into something else. lol. Thanks everybody for helping me, Mindy OH and sorry if I mispelled anything, my computer wont let me do a spell check.
  20. I checked around and they suggest you charge $2 per ounce for their candles. Mindy
  21. Basically these people want you to join, so you can buy their kits then want you to recruit more people to buy their kits. If you sign up on the website you have, all you will see is a slide show of a woman making candles, they say at one point if you can boil water you can make candles. The kit contains: wax, containers, FO, dye, wicks, double boiler, thermometer and more. It talks about how soy is sooo much better than paraffin. I have actually had the chance to see and smell one of these candles, this was the ladies first try to ever make a candle and she stopped at one of the convience stores I was at to try to sell them. I could barely smell it, the wick was to close to the side of the jar, not centered and she never tested them. I told her that she was basically crazy and what she is doing is very dangerous, I was shocked as heck at what she was doing that I didn't even see how much she was charging for them. She then tried to recruit me, and went on to say that the way to make any money with that program is to recruit. I told her that making candles isn't a get rich program, it might seem easy to somebody that is told thats what they will get if they buy this and recruit this many people but in reality its not. I told her I rather take forever and learn the ropes than sell candles that are dangerous. Lets just say the manager of the store was there and he told me whenever I feel that my candles are ready for others to buy that I have a spot with all his stores. Mindy
  22. I'm sure I could come up with my own mix and call it Booty Call, lol. Everybody loves lick me all over and satin sheets, I really wasn't thinking about going in that direction when I started making candles, but I have noticed when they have daring names people can't get enough of them. Hmmm now I have some experimenting to do, need to order more fragrances Thanks, Mindy
  23. Thanks I didn't even know that fragrance finder thing existed. I learn something new everyday. Thanks again, Mindy
