Whitney Houston's Handmade Candle Co. ~ 11 oz soy candle: $65

Recommended Posts

This is the handmade candle company owned by Whitney Houston and her sister-in-law manager, Pat Houston: http://www.marionpcandles.com/ They're soy candles in the Libbey curved square and they can be used as body lotion when they melt. They only have 5 scents. The 11 oz candle costs $65.

I like seeing how they did their website, label, packaging, everything. Very nice!

Oh, and here are the candles advertised on Whitney Houston's website: http://www.whitneyhouston.com/us/news/order-your-marion-p-candles-inspired-whitney-today The candles were inspired by a trip they took to Israel.

And here's a press release: http://popaddicts.com/whitney-houston-endorses-marion-p-candles/

And here are the candles on The Bargainist Gift Guide: http://www.bargainist.com/deals/2012/02/bargainist-gift-guide-whitney-houston-fans/

That's a ridiculous price for candles...even IF they are inspired by Whitney Houston. My boyfriend said "It better AT LEAST come with a greatest hits album!"

I agree, but it's cheap compared to Jo Malone candles, which sell for aprox $350 at upscale department stores. There are many luxury candles on CandleDelerium.com in that price range.

I agree. They could have charged a LOT more & gotten away with it. I was actually quite surprised!

Nice branding etc. too... very polished. Still, if we had budgets like I imagine they would, I'm sure most of us would pull something equally as smart off.

AS we know... up market packaging is always a HUGE cost... & drama =(

Good Luck to them in going forward in such sad & uncertain times... thanks for posting this HorsescentS... interesting =)

I don't consider posting a tiny memorial to be the same as cashing in on her death. I would expect every site having anything to do with her would do the same.

Beautiful packaging. I wouldn't pay that much, but in the overall scheme of high dollar candles, these aren't all that much.

I wonder how they got shea butter in 100% soy candles. That's what jumped out at me. Also, there are a couple of typos.

Hideous music that I couldn't get rid of. I'll usually leave a site without a backward glance if there's music or talking morons of any kind.

I personally wouldn't pay that much for a candle. But there are people who would. Just like there are people who will pay $200 for a pair of jeans, or $400 for a purse, or $200 for a pair of shoes.... Just because I won't spend that kind of money, doesn't mean others shouldn't if they feel it's something they want. To each their own.

Maybe they only have 5 scents because that's all she has perfected so far? Start basic with a few & build up... not a bad plan, if that's the case.

Maybe, but I think they contracted with a candle maker in California to make those candles, and since they're just doing scents of Israel, I think that's the full line. Like, with Jo Malone's luxury candles, I think she only has a few scents too.

The candle and the container are beautiful. But for that much money, I want the website to be perfect. There are too many typos and the grammar is poor. (i.e. Honey Suckle, "Our candles comes in 5 fragrances")
