Candybee
Thats pretty. Looks like a snow covered pinecone. I'd buy one!
cactusladycandles
Thanks. If I had known how easy they were to dip in wax, I would have done them years ago. I just got 4 bags from a neighbor in trade for dipping some for her and dipping some for an upcoming craft fair. I'm going to do the new ones in paraffin wax and sprinkle them with glitter. Darbla
Are you scenting these or just dipping them for looks? I wonder how it would look to dip them in green wax and then put little dots of red or other colored wax all over?I can't tell from your pics how sparkly they are. Did you sprinkle glitter on them? IwantItgreen
What kind of palm did you use? feather?, crystal? TIA!
cactusladycandles
I dipped them in heavy scented cinnamon. I used feather palm wax. You can't see it in the pictures, but they have a sparkly look. I have a question for anyone who dips pinecones. If I'm going to sprinkle them with glitter, does it matter what color wax I use. I have some colored scrap wax in blocks that I need to use up. This would be perfect if the pinecone is going to be covered in glitter anyway. soy327
Hubby just went to the garage to get the bag of pine cones I picked up this summer while camping:laugh2:I think he wants me to dip some too.:laugh2:I have spruceberry in the presto, in GG. Thanks for the clever idea and the pics.

PAgirl89
This is such a great idea! Those are very pretty pine cones! What kind of price do you put on waxed pine cones?
lovemylabs
Soy327...Have you dipped a batch yet using the GG Palm? We have both GG and Starburst, but was wondering how yours turned out with GG. Hopefully we'll get time to do ours this week.
soy327
I did 3 of them last night. Mine didn't turn out like the picture here :confused:I think I needed to let the wax cool more. This is hunter green Spruceberry GG, The color didn't show up but they do have a thin coating of wax and sparkle. Looks kinda sloppy in the pic those are drips on the foil. cactusladycandles
What is GG palm wax? I used feather palm wax. I dipped them once in the hot wax to get a starting layer. Then I let the wax cool to almost slushy to do the other dips. That is how I got the thick layer. I'm going to try paraffin today. I'm just wondering if the color they are dipped in is going to make a difference if I'm going to put glitter on them?
cactusladycandles
I'm pricing them from $1.00 to $1.50 depending on the size. I have small ones I got yesterday from a neighbor. I'll probably price them 50 cents to 75 cents.
cactusladycandles
I googled GG and I guess it is Glass Glow, which I assume is for containers. Mine is not. It is for pillar candles.
PAgirl89
I hope the soy wax I have will be okay to use dipping. Or should I get another kind of wax?Not sure I'll scent mine, just waxed. I was thinking of bagging them up 10 cones per bag and charge $10/per bag.
Johnna
Do you mind sharing what temperature you dipped at? I have tried in the past and basically made a huge mess..lol I have a huge box of pinecones waiting for me to do something with them
cactusladycandles
Since these pinecones don't have a wick, I just melted the wax and dipped the pinecones. Didn't check the temperature. For subsequent dips, I just let the wax get to a slushy consistency. If I were to say what the temperature was, I'd say 180 for the first dip and probably around 130 for the other dips. soy327
O.k. I'm going to do mine again when the wax cools off. But hey they smell really good.GG is a palm container wax and that was what I was doing when I read your post and it just so happened I had Peaks spruceberry in the pitcher. You know just a thought I was following the thread about the CS GG and maybe that would be a good way to use that wax. I know there is alot of disappointed people on the forum over that episode.
Mysticalle
I assume these are for decoration only right? They can't be burned as a candle.
PAgirl89
Some people use them as fire starters in their fireplace.
lovemylabs
No, definately not candles, but make wonderful firestarters. Also, during the holiday season, they can be put in baskets in put in entryways, next to the fireplace (but not too close of course)...and smaller baskets in places like bathrooms.
