Daves'sHomemade
Does anyone use an Infrared Thermometer and if so what are your thoughts about them? Thanks, Dave
Buttercup85
Very good question, I was wondering about them too. They are about $50 little too much for me right now, just to find out not applicable for candle making.
Pam
I have one and I absolutely love it, I find it very accurate, and the fast reading that you get from it, is so nice.Pam F
jenscandles
I would think that it would only read the surface temp of the wax? I know the cheap little $10 one my BF has only reads surface temp. Does anybody have an infrared that will read the internal temp of a liquid?
Luci
I've got one and absolutely love it. Mine's not here with me, and I don't remember the brand right offhand. It was about $110.
Brenda (OH)
I have one and it works great. I do comparison tests with all my thermometers to assure they all read the same. With the infrared I usually stir then check the temp.
Craftyone
I have one too, and I just love it! I also stir the wax and then check the temp. It is very accurate, and so quick to use...a real time saver! My husband got mine at a NAPA auto parts store...it is a Raytek MiniTemp. I think it was $60 - $70. Luci
It's definitely a nice tool to have when working with wax. I always stir before checking the temp, too. It's also great for checking the lye mixture temp.
tootie04
I was gonna get one...but I was scared it would not be accurate..but stirring makes sense. I have a digital one and I am happy with it for now...
Jeana
I'm very happy I invested in one of these. Digitals kept breaking on me and I don't have the patience for candy thermometers. I got mine from a place called Harbor Freight for about $39 on sale. They are meant for reading the internal temps of radiators and other car fluids so they are accurate for internal use. They are so fast. I use it for candles, soap, and basically anything that needs a temp reading.
Stella1952
I would love to try one, but I can buy a lot of clip-ons and candy thermometers for the price of the infared...:undecided
candlebug
I love mine, I have 2, one for wax and one for soap. The place I have bought mine has them at $45.00 and free shipping. http://www.instrumart.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=143HTH
